Chapter 7

"Georgia Golden Black! Are you still on the fucking line?!" Kayden bellowed, and succeeding in forcing me to pull the device away from my ear.

Good thing I didn't use my bluetooth else I would be picking my damaged eardrums from the floor...

"It's George " I growled right back.

"I thought you we're fucking dead or something. Don't scare a man like that" he muttered causing me to roll my eyes.

Drama Queen.

"Thank you. Thank you very much Kayden. You didn't even think of I fell asleep due to jet lag or something rather than death" I reply.

"You are insomniac, Baby" he deadpanned

"Shut your mouth" I growl again and the buffalo had the nerve to laugh.

I strolled lazily to the balcony of my room, the room I always begged my grandfather to let me stay in but he kept telling me to wait till I was older.

Closing my eyes, I breathed in the fresh air and some flower whose name I know but can not remember, I wasn't a big fan of them. They weren't roses and I made little to no effort trying to remember.

"I need to shower and sleep, Baby" I mutter rubbing my forehead and cursing him in my head, "or try to sleep. Hopefully the jet lag would provide enough fatigue that would knock me out and are you going to stop laughing anytime soon?" I ask sarcastically.

After a few controlled chuckles he eventually stopped.

Hallelujah.

"That is very insensitive of you, George" he began dramatically. I could picture him grabbing his chest in an over exaggerated manner.

"Thou must goesth into thy loo and haveth a bath" dramatic pause "but thou must remembereth to calleth me when the sun has risen"

"It is called bathroom Baby, not loo. I'm in Los Angeles, in America"

"Shut up, Georgie. You never support me" he mumbles.

"Can you not call me that" I demand.

"Georgie?"

"Yes, uh. That" I reply.

"Why?" He queries. A pause then- "oh because of that clown movie, uh IT"

"Yeah" I whisper into the night.

I listen to crickets noises, getting more tired by the seconds that pass but still wide awake, wishing, hoping, for sleep to come.

"What are you thinking about, Baby?" Kayden's question brings me out of my dazed state.

"The fact that marijuana is legal in LA" I joke and it earns me a chuckle.

"For adults over twenty one. Now tell me what you're thinking about" he demands, with enough dose of sass.

"The fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger was voted twice in this state" I laughed when I heard him whine and decided to tease him just for the fun of it.

"Or the sole fact that you are extremely nosey"

"I swear I'll come to California and kick your oversized butt" He threatened making me roll my eyes. I decided to satisfy his curiosity.

"Not thinking, Kayden. Just wishing for sleep to come." I reply; a mere whisper but he heard me anyway.

"It gets better, you know that right?" His words didn't do much to calm or reassure me, or both but at least he is only doing his best to help.

"Does it?" I ask monotone, running a hand through my hair.

"George-" the warning was clear as day.

"No negative thoughts. Got it"

There was a pause, probably because non of us knew what to say, then I broke the silence.

"How are your parents?"

"They are your parents as well, Baby" he drawls, "they are fine. I think Hayden has filled them in about your disappearance-"

"Great"

"-worried sick, but fine. And what the fuck were you thinking? Just leaving like that without a goddamn note or anything to show you we're alright or-"

"Would it have been better if I left a note?" I cut off his angry ramble.

"You're bloody unbelievable" he scoffs.

"I'm sorry, Baby. I didn't know what I was thinking"

"Give me a break, you definitely weren't thinking"

"Hey, come on. I said I'm sorry" I try again and he refuse to reply, "man-child". That did the trick and he cracked.

"Fuck off" he grumbled and I laughed, walking back to my room and spreading on the bed like a starfish.

"Forgive me?"

"Hell no. Not until you give me a good enough reason for leaving like that"

"Wait. Three of you threatened Robin, correct?" I ask.

"Uh... Yes?"

"How come Hayden and Jayden aren't fighting you for the phone?"

"Well it is my phone, and they're probably still mad at you"

I sigh. I definitely out did myself. I think, massaging my temple.

"Good night Kayden" I mutter. Feeling defeated.

"What? No, wait. I didn't do anything wrong! And it's not even night yet"

"Baby, you're in a different continent. Hence, the difference in hours" I explain like I'm talking to a toddler.

"I know there are 8 hours difference. Stop speaking like that I'm older than you" he snaps, clearly offended.

"I know old man. Have you gotten your new dentures yet?" I tease.

"Fuck. You"

I laugh

"But seriously I haven't gotten that shower I have to go, like now" I inform him, feeling the sweat on my body become almost unbearable. I already forgot about the heat in California could also continue at night and I can't believe I miss the bipolar weather at Oxford.

"Okay. Goodnight" Finally.

"Night"

"I love you"

"I love me too" I reply playfully.

"Dummy" he laughs and hangs up.

I drop my phone and drag my body into the bathroom, a ghost of a smile playing on my face.
