Village K

Adler, or in this case, Obcisor opened his eyes. In front of him was a bustling little village. He could see different people of different types. Some had colored hair, some had simple black hair. Some wore simple medieval shirt and pant, while some wore fancy looking armor. Some carried swords on their back, so walked around with a staff. Some had daggers around their waist, some had bows on their black.

Some you couldn't make out appearances because they were wearing robes and cloaks. All in all, you could find a variety of people here. The sound the different people reminded him of those vegetable shops that he would go to every single week outside his town, that would always be bustling with many people as if it were a summer festival.

He walked a little and looked around. The houses were similar to the ones he saw in the promo material the game developers put out. They were medieval mostly made up of wood and mud. Houses made up of bricks or stones seem hard to find.

He saw different people had different colored name. If he remembered correctly, Mikaela said the one with white colored names were the NPCs, while the ones with green colored names were Players. There weren't mane people with green colored name around him, even with so many people being in this village. It seemed majority of the players decided to hide their names.

As he was looking around, a blue screen popped up in front of him saying, <'Mikaela' says 'Are you in-game?'. Reply?>. He looked at the message and remembered, 'They must still be there. I totally forgot about them.' He wrote .

Soon a reply came. <'Mikaela' says 'Okay. Have fun. Complete many quests.'>.

'Quests. Right, how do I get those? Do I randomly talk to the NPCs or do I need to find specific ones. Also how do I open my settings and profile?' He was stuck. Suddenly, something popped up in front of him.

Go to the local chapel and have the priest awaken you. >

As soon as the quest popped up, a green arrow appeared in front of him, seemingly showing him the direction of the chapel. After following the a bit, the green arrow disappeared in front of a small modest looking chapel. He followed inside and there was a small line with players waiting to get awakened.

His turn came up very soon. Obcisor walked up to the priest. The priest held his hand over Obcisor's head and said, "May the goddess's radiance shine on you." As soon as he said that, a notification popped up.

< You are now awakened. Please leave the chapel to check your newly awakened status.>

Obcisor walked out of the chapel. At the corner of his vision, a new icon had appeared that said, 'Obcisor - Lvl 1'. He clicked on his name and suddenly his profile opened up.

Obcisor was quite shocked to see his stats. Nobody mentioned to him that his stats would be viewable in numerical format instead of the normal hunter's rank system. He couldn't argue this was easier to quantify.

At the top right of the screen was a 'X' to close the screen, and just left to that was a '?' button. At the bottom of the screen were 3 different buttons that said 'Skills', 'Equipment' and 'Titles'.

He decided to check what skills he had gotten, but was disappointed to find out that there were none. It seemed he had to learn skills normally, just like in any other games. He decided to check the '?' button. A new screen popped up in front of him explaining him about his stats in depth.

Those were some useful information. It seemed his best stats were Vitality and Defense, while his agility was horrible. By that point a quest had already popped up in front of him.

Visit the village guard Tom, and learn about the different classes from him.>

It seemed he was finally going to start playing the game. But, first he needed to complete the tutorials. This time however, no green arrow appeared in front of him to show where to go. So instead he had to ask around. He soon saw quite a few people asking about Tom to other NPCs and players. It seemed they had the tutorial quest as well.

He soon found his way to a small open ground that was used as a training camp. He saw a few people hitting wooden puppet with swords. Some players were getting hit with sticks instead. Others were running around.

He saw a soldier like guy in a military outfit looking over the different people. Above him was a white name 'Tom' floating. 'This must be the guy.' Thought Obcisor and walked towards him.

As soon as he neared Tom, Tom looked at him and said, "Another newbie, huh. You here to train newbie?" Obcisor nodded and said "Yes."

Ding. A quest window opened up in front on him.

< Mini Quest: Hit the wooden puppet 100 times.

Reward : +1 to STR. Max STR gained is 10. >

Tom took out a wooden sword from somewhere and handed it to him. "Go hit that puppet for a hundred times." Tom said as he pointed to a free wooden puppet. Obcisor looked at the puppet and walked to it. 'A hundred times? That's gonna take a long while.'

He took a look at the puppet and readied his sword. The feeling of the wood on his palm felt so real. He hit the puppet. BAM!. The vibrations of the sword on his hand. He could feel it all the way up to his arms. This feeling. He couldn't imagine how the developer's replicated this feeling so accurately. Or maybe it was to the V-Dive Capsule's merit that he could feel this sensation right now.

Obcisor started hitting the wooden puppet. Every time he hit it, a yellow number popped up above the wooden puppet.

Ding.

He deliberated on whether to stay or leave. On one hand, This was easy stat gain. He got strong just by hitting a pupped, but on the other hand, this was taking way too long.

'Do I have to give my hundred percent for it to count as a hit?' he thought. He simply hit the puppet slowly, but nothing came up. 'Seems I need to hit it at least with some strength behind my attack. I wonder what would happen if I had two swords, would I finish it twice as fast?.' But he didn't have two swords. So he couldn't know. Instead he thought of something else, 'What if instead of stopping after striking, I redirect the momentum and attack the puppet again?'

He decided to try out his theory. He struck the puppet as hard as he could. Instead of stopping and bringing his sword back, he instead made a circular motion with the sword and changed the momentum back towards the puppet.

It counted. He immediately started following this method. He hit the puppet, redirect the sword back towards the puppet and hit it again. He then took that momentum and brought it back to the puppet and hit it again. He did that a couple of times when suddenly,

'Huh?'
