Chapter 7

"Knock,Knock!"

Jack immediately woke up from the loud sound. His head was still spinning and he was in a deep sleep because of yesterday's tiredness. Jack glanced at the clock. It was only 7 am in the morning! Why would anyone wake him up so early? However, he was now a soldier. There must be something urgent.

"Come in", ordered Jack and immediately a guard walked in and knelt before him. "Commander Jack, You are expected to come at the castle gate as soon as possible." Said the guard politely.

Why was he summoned at the castle gate so early? Was there any problem?

"Is everything alright?", asked Jack as he yawned. He was still sleepy.

"Princess Julie is going on a hunt and as commander of Royal Regiment, you must accompany her", said the guard as he bowed politely and left. Jack sighed. Why would the princess go on a hunt so early in the morning? However as he came to his senses, he realised he was now a soldier and in a castle. Soldiers have to stay ready 24/7 !

Immediately, Jack got up from his bed and put on his armour and attached his sword and bow on it. He picked as many arrows as he could and put them in the quiver as he hurriedly headed towards the castle gate.

....

"Forgive me Princess, I am late", panted Jack as he arrived at the gate. All the Royal Regiment guards were already present. There were about 100 soldiers altogether. Jack looked at Julie and he was stunned. She was, as usual, looking gorgeous and prettier than ever. She was looking even more beautiful with her hunting outfit, which showed off her beautiful body.

" Thank goodness you are finally here! Let's not waste any more time and head towards the jungle", said Julie as she pulled the reins of her horse. Excitedly, Jack also jumped on his horse and followed the princess. A hundred soldiers followed behind him.

Jack was as excited as Julie to go on this hunting adventure. It was one of his favourite hobby during his days at the Zang Empire. That's how he learned his archery and sword fighting skills. However, he realised he was not accompanying the princess to enjoy the hunt. He was responsible to protect the princess at all costs. Jack shivered as he thought about the consequences if anything happened to Julie. She was the only heir of Annville Empire! Jack would certainly be hanged to death if the princess suffered even a scratch.

....

"Look! There's a tiger!", shouted Julie excitedly got off her horse and pulled out her bow and arrows. The soldiers looked and certainly there was a big, mighty tiger a few hundred meters away. Jack was also excited. He finally felt like he had gone back to his childhood. Since childhood, he had been hunting tigers and lions and was famous for his archery.

"Archers, at the ready!",Jack ordered the soldiers as he suddenly remembered he had to protect the princess. He also also took out his bow in case the Princess misses her shot and the tiger attacks.

Meanwhile Julie was busy setting her aim as she stretched the bowstring. She looked even more cute while hunting, with one eye closed and her tounge sticking out.

"Swoosh!"

Julie released the arrow, as it pierced the air. To her disappointment, it missed! Immediately the tiger became alert and stared at the Princess and as quick as lightening, charged to attack the princess! The Princess was in trouble!

Seeing the huge tiger charging towards her, Julie panicked. Immediately she inserted another arrow in the bow to try to shoot the tiger again.

Meanwhile, Jack was smiling and was relaxed as he watched the scene unfold. He had his bowstring stretched and was ready to release the arrow. However, he was waiting for the Princess to attack first. After all, she looked even more cute when panicking.

"Swoosh", the princess released another arrow and this time too it missed! It was too late now, she had no time to insert another arrow and shoot it at the animal. The tiger was now extremely close. Without a second thought, the Princess unsheathed her sword, she was ready to defend herself. The tiger opened his jaws, revealing his dangerous teeth.

The princess closed her eyes and lifted her sword to kill the tiger

"Thuck"

Before the princess could lift her sword, an arrow pierced the tiger's head right in the middle of its two eyes and it immediately fell dead, just a few centimetres away from the Princess. Julie opened her eyes and saw the tiger dead right infront of her. She was stunned and her heartbeat was still beating as fast as ever. She looked behind and saw Jack, who was still posing after releasing the arrow. There was not even a hint of fright on his handsome face. He was smiling and as relaxed as ever. It was him who had killed the tiger. Julie was impressed. How can Jack be so accurate? He was too far from the tiger! This man was so skillful!
