Chapter 2

I've been texting Diego ever since I escaped that angry mob back at Tia's. When I checked the time I noticed how late it was decided I at least have to be productive if I'm actually going to succeed.

Currently I don't have a job because Lucian keeps sending me large amounts of money even though I never asked him to. And he said I quote 'I'd never let my future wife starve and be homeless in this rechet realm.

I texted Diego that I gotta go and he said that he that's he got a meeting in a few minutes anyway.

I headed to the kitchen to make some food because I was hungry. Then saw that it was getting darker outside so then I went to my room to take a shower and get ready for later tonight.

I curled my hair, put on some makeup and wore a short black dress and a pair of black platform boots. I headed to Ecstasy.

The owner, Mathias, is Diego's boyfriend who also knows me as well as the Cassaverdes and staff at Tia's Cafe.

I walk up to the door where the bouncer, Mike, standing at the door. I walked up to him. He unhooked the velvet rope and I walked in the building and blew him a kiss.

I headed to the bar and got a drink and looked around if anyone was a potential enough.

"Hey pretty face..." said a man with a disgusting smell of alcohol on his breath. But alas I flirted back. I was really desperate this year.

I wonder what Dee is doing right now. I wonder if Mathias is here... Or maybe Dee ditched me for him. That sneaky bastard! I giggles in triumph knowing I figured out his scheme. Since when does Tia trust Dee to actually attend meetings.

The creep in front of me's smile widened. Oh shoot! He thought I was giggling at him.

"Hey..." I responded.

"How 'bout I buy you a drink" he said while taking out his wallet.

In my six years of experience with men I've learned to notice a few things here and there.

This one here has absolutely no interest in a relationship. Just looking for a good time. And at the rate he's drinking it means he's stressed and stress means he's married. To prove my statement I notice a ring band outline on his left ring finger. Took it off for the night I see. Believe me, I'm desperate but I'm no homewrecker.

"Nah... My husband wouldn't be too happy about that, now would he" I said to him with a smile.

"He doesn't have to know" he said leaning closer.

"Doesn't have to know what?" a voice I wasn't too anticipated to hear at this current moment said.

The man in front of me eyes went wide in shock. I looked up to see who had saved me from this very gross man.

It's that jerk!

From the library and the Cafe. What's he doing here? And why is he helping me?

"T-t-that I haven't seen her s-since she was little. How adorable she was!" the man stuttered and tried to reach for my cheek to pinch it but I slapped his hand away from my face.

"Right well... I'm going to go" he said and quickly scurried away.

I watched him walk away then proceeded to leave the club. I'm so over with this night.

"Lucy!" yelled a voice when I stepped outside into the fresh air. I decided to ignore it and kept on walking.

"Lucy!" they yelled again. It was beginning to agitate me so I turned around and snapped.

"What?!" I yelled back. Then I saw it was jerk from the library.

"You! How do you know my name?!" I demanded.

He raised his hands in defense.

"When the entire staff of Tia's Cafe screams your name upon entrance one is bound to catch on" he said.

I narrowed my eyes at him. Okay what he was saying was true but I wasn't going to let him win.

"What are then... Following me?" I accused.

Ha! I got him there!

"Am I not allowed to go clubbing once in a while?" he said with a smirk.

"I don't believe you" I said and crossed my arms across my chest.

"Okay fine. I may have asked that cashier at Tia's where I might find you" he admitted.

"Why?" I said furrowing my brows in confusion.

"So I could make it up to you for the coffee thing this morning" he said.

"Yeah well don't" I said and turned around and started walking away.

"C'mon please?" he begged as he walked up to me.

"No" I said and continued my walk.

"But I can't just move on with my life knowing that I owe you something" he reasoned.

"Not my problem" I said repeating his words from earlier today. I smirked in victory when he stopped.

"Okay. You win. I just wanted to ask you for your number" he said and caught up with me again.

I raised a brow in question.

"It's true! I swear it on my dead pet goldfish from 5th grade" I said crossing his fingers and waving them in the air.

"Your pet goldfish?" I asked then giggled.

"Yeah... I loved Gilly" he said with a content smile on his face.

I giggled again.

"You names a fish with gills... Gilly" I said.

How dumb could this cute jerk be.

Hold up.

Cute?!

Since when did I think he's cute. Holy shit! Am I saying any of this out loud. I looked at him to see if I said anything inappropriate. He seemed like he's waiting for something.

"What?" I said looking away.

"Well I did ask you for something" he said while raising a brow.

I rolled my eyes and folded my arms in challenge.

"C'mon. I told an embarrassing part of my 5th grade life and you still won't give me your number?" he said while inching closer to me.

"Do it for Gilly" he reasoned.

"Ugh! Fine. I'll do it for him. Give me your phone." I said while taking it from him and typing in my number.

"There... Happy?" I asked.

"Hold on" he said and my phone vibrated in my purse pocket. I took it out to see who was calling me to see and unknown number.

"Just checking" he said and began to walk away.

"Wait! I don't even know your name!" I said.

He turned around and flashed a charming smile.

"It's Donavan" he said and continued his walk.

Donavan.

Donny.

Interesting.
