Chapter 8

Lucinda's POV

Seconds turn to minutes and minutes turned to hours and I still haven't figured out how I got into this stupor cycle.

Though I suppose it isn't really a stupor since I'm technically thinking but still. The paint on the ceiling of my roof hasn't changed since I started staring at it a couple of hours ago as if it'd magically change form and become something interesting.

Realizing that I've pretty much wasted a lot of time just sitting and not soul hunting I got ready for the club. As much of an occurrence that I visit that place many might accuse me of loose behavior.

And yet it seemed as though my mind has strayed far from the opinions of others. I am doing this for the freedom I was denied at the age of five and will trample on anyone who gets in my way.

Me and Chase have been talking ever since our double date and honestly I'm willing to give him a shot. He seems like a really nice guy with high morals and a great perspective on life.

Most of our conversations consisted of intellectual properties. Not that I minded, having someone who is as much of a brainiac as me feels nice.

Learning about ever small bit of information I could get my hands on since I arrived in this realm was a thing that baffled me to this day. Melissa tell me that I have a curious nature and I always look at life like a science experiment.

Absorbing everything new that I learn like a dehydrated sponge was a hobby of mine. Can sponges be considered dehydrated?

I suppose the live ones that live in the oceans of this vast realm. I fixed my hair in my vanity as I took in my appearance.

Curly is always best...

Lips painted as red a blood... The color seems to attract men's attention.

Short and skimpy but not so much you flash someone when bending.

Fruit scented body mist with just a hint of vanilla...

And preferred weapon incase things get out of hand... Not that I need one considering that I'm half demon but still there for safety measures.

With everything sorted I made my way to the club and was let in without a second thought. It helps being best friends with the owners boyfriend.

I was engulfed by darkness and I welcomed it as though it were home but the unwelcome smell of sweat and alcohol flooded my senses as I held back a gagg.

Navigating myself through dancing bodies grinding to some upbeat song that encourages them to move their already tired bodies faster I made my way to the bar.

I placed myself on a stool and ordered a Long Island ice-tea. I sipped on my drink scanning the crowd for my future target.

I bit the inside of my cheek when I couldn't find anyone suitable. I turned my attention back to the bartender when someone beside me cleared their throat.

I looked to that direction and saw Mathias beaming at me. I smiled back at him and gave him my full attention still enjoying my drink.

"You know... If you keep coming here so often I might as well just give you a job" he said sliding in the seat next to me.

"Getting sick of me already?" I asked pouting.

"Not that I don't enjoy your company but I'd prefer you bother Diego instead" he said.

I furrowed my brows.

"What is this? Turn on Lucy day!" I exclaimed.

"I was actually hoping I could ask you a favor" he said looking into my eyes.

"What is it?" I asked.

"Well... As you know Louisa's birthday is coming up" he began.

Ah Luisa.

Diego's little sister who I love to hell and back. I nodded for him to continue.

"And her only request from me was to find her a princess for her birthday party and I tho-" he said and I cut him off.

"Absolutely not" I said firmly.

"But Lucy please..." he begged.

"No" I said putting my empty glass on the counter.

"You're the only person I trust around Luisa and hiring a princess to come to the party will be too much of a hassle." he said.

"Mathias... A princess!" I whined.

"Please..." he begged.

I rolled my eyes. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for that kid.

"I have conditions" I finally caved.

"Thank you so much!" he exclaimed and hugged me.

"You haven't even heard my conditions yet" I murmured against his shoulder.

He pulled back from all the excitement looked a bit embarrassed but regained his composure.

"Right" he said and took out a note book and a pen.

"No pink dresses" I said firmly.

"It's a winter wonderland theme" he clarified.

"I'm not getting a magic wand or staff" I said.

He looked hesitant but jotted it down on the note book.

"I'm not doing any superficial performances" I said.

He groaned but wrote it down either way.

"And..." I said with a smirk.

He gestured for me to continue.

"Your limited edition 'Landscapers' T-shirt" I said.

His face dropped in horror.

"Nope. No deal" he said.

"What are you gonna tell poor Luisa, that you ruined her birthday?" I smiled innocently.

"You are a cruel woman Lucinda"

He let out and angry huff and jotted it down.

"Fine" he said and walked away.

I've been wanting that shirt ever since they announced the merchandise release and Mathias just happened to be in front of me in line and got the last one.

That'll show him.

With a satisfied smile and light buzz of alcohol in my system I made my journey back home.

I walked in kicked off my shoes and got into something more comfortable. As I was about to begin a binge a knock on my door disturbed me.

With a groan and a silent curse at whoever was at the door I made my may to it and opened it.

"Chase..."
