Chapter 2: Danger in Kindergarten

Ashley

Matt signals us to get down, They left me in-charge of look out down the stairs in case they came running up while we moved the wall to the stairs. Grey left to help fix it up but one of the rope snapped which made the desk drop ,The building echoed.

Footsteps turned into a crowd of them, Matt who was nearest to me dragged me by the wrist. We hid in a cleared out classroom while the others uses the emergency exit to drag their attention.

Catching my breath I whispered, "I should have taken cardio" Matt laughed and flicked my head.

"You skipped PE often too" I held my forehead, His flick did hurt too.

I looked up to check and it was nearly cleared the zombies were at the corner being disposed by the back-ups, Matt got up and started to help with the desk to get it done faster. Fastening up they nodded so we can go to the next step.

"Ash. Ocean, You can go now. They'll clear out the zombie so you can use the entry way there". He pointed to the fire escape and started giving instructions to the others.

"No, I'm staying". Ocean agreed to stay as well, I even held onto Grey's shirt which made him sigh

"I'll go with Ash, We'll take the other building. Just make sure the bridge is cleared". Grey reassured him and Ocean agreed.

Matt shackes his head and sighed ,he did agree but had us look out for the building on the other side. The School is big with a whole building for the college, Highschool, middle school, and kindergarten. I dread to know what happened to the younger kids. The idea crawled into my throat but I shake my head from the imagery forming in my brain.

I held onto my pole and followed Grey. He held me by my sleeves and he kept making sure that the corners were safe. We crouched and moved quietly as possible to not grab any attention. We went inside a classroom and started looking for things and maybe food. I noticed something on his arms which made me stop mid-salvage.

"Grey, your arm." I pointed out but he covers it by pulling on his sleeves. "It's nothing. I have to say the same to your ankle, I think you've been limping every time we crouch" He said while slumping onto the wall. He looks at me and patted his left side, I obliged.

"I'm guessing we both got our luck thrown out the window" I mumbled, intertwining my fingers above my knee. My mind suddenly wandered to my home. Did they even think of me? or did they even know what was happening?. My eyes started to tear up.

"I want to go home, but I don't think I even have one to go back to" His hand slipped onto my clasped one. My cries turned into mumbling and he just didn't let go. "I don't even know why your being so nice to me" my voice cracking while I continued "your not much of a people person in class and your just with Maison all the time" my forehead landed on his hand on top my knees.

He opened his mouth and closed it, He was just being quiet beside me while he listened. I don't remember even half of what I was mumbling about when a loud growl echoes the corridor that was clearly close to us. HIs calloused hands swiftly shifted to my mouth, sobbing he manages to muffle the sound, and then....that sound.

Chimes and a nursery ryhm tune.

My eyes wondered onto his hand, Black veins crawling into his skin. I grabbed it the moment he lets go.

"Leave it"

"What do you mean leave it?"

His injury wasn't that bad but it was spreading faster. It was just as infected as mine.

He ignored me and went out in the open. I followed him and the child in front of us wasn't a child anymore.

==========

My heart is beating like a drum. Flashbacks of the poor little bodies crying blood and dragging toys. We had to take care if it. They had to atleast die in peace.

Grabbing the bag filled with things didn't feel right to me. I sat down by a wall closed off by Grey the same tingling on my ankle started to burn. Pulling down the high socks to my ankle revealed the same black vein running from the scratch as the burn suddenly turned into icy cold. I tried cleaning it with some water but it doesn't help either. The thin black veins on mine was hardly visible thanks to the socks but concerns ruses from my guts.

Will I turn like them?,My idea plagued my mind

Grey knocked on the door and I pulled the socks just as he got in and immediately has us move. I guess I will never know until I die.

Grey suddenly pulled me to his side whilst walking down the stairs.

"If you keep of daydreaming the faster you'll die" He said taking my hand, my face heated up.

My heart suddenly took a big hit. Like I couldn't breath and was palpitating. Grey held onti my hands as my body crashes down onto the floor.Looking up he was screaming but my ears was ringing and it blocked the sound of him. Suddenly he was hugging me ,pulling me up to his chest. My fingers are twitching and my eyes felt heavy, his voice somehow reached my ear just as it went dark.

Hot air caresses my cheeks. My legs are burning and my stomach felt like it was being pulled apart.

I tried opening my mouth. I couldn't hear anything come out but the hot air on my skin. My eyes were still shut and wouldn't budge at all.

In between the darkness the heat on my cheek moved onto my neck, between sounds all I could hear was something similar to static sound.

"Don't go"

I don't want to go yet, My parents. No, My friends? They're gone.

If I die now? Will Grey kill me?

Please let him kill me. Don't let me turn into a monster. Don't let me harm anyone. My thoughts continued in a spiral abyss
