Chapter 28: The Worse Part of Quiet

Jake had been punching a bag filled with wheat for the better part of the later afternoon. His body burned from the over exhaustion and his muscled begged him to stop- but his mind was on full steam and brimming with thoughts.

The woods around him rustled with movement and his senses, previously tired from exhaustion, came back to high alert. From the thick bushes behind him a large wolf emerged, and he let out a sigh of relief.

“Amoux,” Jake greeted, “What are you doing here?”

Jake had seen Amoux a handful of times since he had parted from the pack, but never as close to the manor as now.

“I came looking for Accalia, she hadn’t been at the den in some time,” Amoux greeted, “Though I see she’s not with you.”

“No we…” Jake hung his head in shame as he scratched the back of his neck, “We had a bit of a disagreement a few days ago and we… we fought. I might have said some things she didn’t deserve to hear.”
