Chapter 15: Evelyn, Part 3
My heart pounded deep within my chest as I ran cleverly through the woods as fast as my feet could take me. I knew they wouldn’t give up the chase, there wasn't a safe enough distance between us yet. My garments fought with my knees, and I harshly kicked as I dodged every potential trip. My long, braided hair hit heavily against my back, the hair around my head loosening and escaping the braid. Chestnut brown strands streaked across my face when I'd turned to check behind me. My cheeks burned, and sweat ran down my neck, seeping through every layer of cloth. My breathing came harshly, and I feared my legs collapsing beneath me.
