Clayton's POV
I am at the village playground watching Cassandra plays with her village friends and Tryce. I want to let her out everyday but its just that there are no one to look after her. Caspian is rarely home since he hunts outside often, and I can't ask Cora and it might work her out more. Her wet nurse is out and Cassandra is afraid of the guards because they look big to her.
I was just sitting on the bench not far from her when one of the guards came to me.
"Sire, I have something important to report sire." He stated. We do have a lot of guards roaming even in the day but I'm sure that this guard is suppose to work at night. I decided to divide the nights into two. Those who work in the day and those at night. This guard works at night since he had a blue cape. The guards who worked at day wore a yellow cape and seeing him here, something must be going on.
"What is it?" I asked and looked at Cassandra and make sure she can't here me.
"While I was roaming around at night with my partner, I notice someone was suspicious and ran outside of town. I asked my partner to stay while I chase down the man but I lost him in the forest." He reported. I'm not sure but I sure have a bad feeling about this.
"Do you know who it was?" I asked while scratching my wrist. It's a habit when I'm anxious.
"Sorry sir but it was dark and it was wearing a cloak sire." He reported with his head down. I'm starting to get worried. What was that man up to? Why does it have to be one of people? Did Crosreseon sent a spy? Are they planning to ambush us?
I was continually thinking of the possible thing of what was about to happen when I suddenly someone grab my arm from scratching to much that I didn't know it was bleeding.
"Clayton!" Cora shouted. When did she get here? "What is wrong with you? Is something wrong? You're wrist are bleeding and you are still scratching it. Someone get a nurse." She demanded and looked at me worriedly.
The nurse arrived with the med kit. She took my arm and treated it. I didn't mind the stinging pain as she treated as I was clouded with worried thoughts of what is going to happen. As soon as the nurse was done and left, Cora sat down beside me and held my hand. I looked at her and saw her worried eyes and it was something I never want to see.
"What's wrong? Is something going? Is something bothering you?" She worriedly ask. I opened my mouth to tell her when he belly caught my eyes. Right, she's pregnant. I don't want her get stress of other matters. I want her to think of only her child and nothing else.
"Oh it's nothing. Don't worry about it. It wasn't that important at all. Everything is fine. Just think of your baby. I'll take care of the rest." I told her reassuringly. I was about to scratch my wrist when she grabbed it.
"You better tell me or I am going to find it out myself. You've been scratching so much that it started to bled and you didn't even notice it. you better start talking now Clayton Keir Dixon." She warned me. Though I am not sure how but I know she will find it out sooner or later. And one thing for sure, she is really mad since she completed my name.
I wasn't planning to answer when I heard Caspian from a distance.
"What's going on here?" He asked and looked at me . I averted because I know once he found out about it, he won't be pleased.
"I was about to go to visit Ellie when I saw Clayton scratching his wrist, again." Cora reported to Caspian. Caspian may be a goofball sometimes but he can get serious when it comes to family matters and something about the kingdom. He's sunny looked changed to a gloomy serious one looking at me.
"Kier, start talkin." He demanded. He never calls me by my second name not unless he's mad or serious. And when Caspian Kline Dixon gets serious, you might as well do as he told you to.
"Uhmm, well..." I hesitantly respond. But when I looked at him, it felt like he was running out of patience and demanded to answer him right away. I couldn't looked hi or answer him straightly so I asked the guard to tell them what was he told me.
After they heard it all, they were worried as I am. Caspian was seriously thinking of what could it be and his reason was. Cora was silent and held her belly. The one thing I wished not to happen was causing trouble for Cora and Cassandra. After a moments of silence and thinking, Caspian coughed and spoke.
"As of now the only thing we know is that there is something big going on and that we have to stay alert. We don't know who he is or where he went for last night or who he might be working for. Let's not let them know we know they're presence let's just act natural not to alarm them." Caspian ordered.
We were talking on some changes for the village when we were interrupted by Tryce's aggressive barking. We turned around and saw Mr. Ben, one of the village bakers, standing fearfully at Tryce barking at him. I stood up and went closer to them and I held on to Tryce as he was slowly getting closer to him.
"Are you okay sir Ben? He didn't bite or anything did he?" I asked as I checked at him in a distance if Tryce left something.
"No not really." He replied in a relief. "I saw that the Royal family was here so I dropped by and thought of giving you some of our warm bread." He continued as he shows us the basket of warm bread where the smoke was visible to see.
"I see that Tryce still hasn't gotten used to you yet huh." Caspian. Every time Ben visit us in the castle to give us some bread, Tryce always barks at him. He was never like that to other villagers only to him in which we don't know why.
"Haha, I guess so. Maybe he hates baker." Mr. Ben chuckled. He bid his farewell and went back to his bakery when we heard Cassandra laughing.
"What's so funny, Cassandra?" Cora asked. It doesn't seemed like she was tickled or anything and no one was trying to make her laugh. Cora checked something went in her clothes that make her ticklish but there was none.
"Hahaha, I don't know, hahaha. My nape feels tingly hahaha." She laughingly respond. We checked her end nothing was in it. Oh well, it's not like this had happened before. When she was 5 and playing on the castle, one man came to visit our parents and when he left, Cassandra was giggling and laughing so much. We asked her what was it and since she couldn't speak much she just pointed her nape like she was saying something was making her ticklish there. And strangely, the man who came to visit was caught by our guards. Turns out he was a notorious thief from a different kingdom and was about to steal some in the castle.
It was weird enough when this is the 5th time that it had happened. And every time this had happens, a criminal was caught just as when it was close to Cassandra. Even if that person was just passing by. I looked to see if there is anyone close by but it was just the four of us. I looked at Cora and Caspian and they were thinking of the same thing.
"Someone is here and it's not good." Cora announced. We looked at each other and nodded.
" Let's go inside first then we will discuss this matter. Let's go." Caspian ordered us. We stood up started walking heading home. Cassandra already stopped laughing we're heading home already since it was also getting dark.
When we arrived home, our parents called us and said it was time for dinner. We ate dinner and Caspian told us to wait while he informs our parents first. We headed to our rooms as we wait for Caspian.
When I went out my room, I stared at the window to the outside and watched as the city slowly gets dark and the city lights were lighting up one by one. And while looking at it, Train of thoughts are starting to run to my head as I am gripping my hands trying not o scratch my wrist.
By the time that we were called to our parents room, I could only pray and hope that we will be prepared of what might come ahead of us. Cora was already waiting outside the room And we entered as soon as I was close. We opened the door and saw dad's fierce look and mom's worried face was written all over.
"It seems that someone is planning something grand to ambush us. We are not yet sure if it is the Crosreseons but let just stay alert. So let's talk this through." Dad announced angrily as we listened to what he said.
Third Person's POV
After dinner, the children of the royal family was told to head on to their rooms and rest. Cassandra and their royal dog went to their room. One of the maids assisted her as she takes a shower and tuck her in to sleep. As soon as she notices the maid was far enough she stood up and closed the curtain in her room.
" We're alone now your highness." She uttered to the dog. The dog stood up walked a few steps back as a light was emitting from him ad takes his actual form. A prince.
"Once again, Thank you princess Cassandra Keene Dixon. I owe you a lot." The prince stated as he completed his true form.
"No need to thank me prince Trystan. As long as you keep your promise to protect my family and to marry me when I get older." The princess replied. The prince chuckled and went close to her to kiss her hand.
"Of course I will but are still hung up on the promise to marry you? A very young princess thinking of such thing." He chucklingly asked.
"Of course. It is said that a princess must marry a prince and my brothers and sister always say that I can marry any man I want. And also I am not that young I am 10." She declared while pouting. The prince laughed at her adorableness and put on the serious face.
"It won't be long till I return home but till then I must protect you while I am here. You must stay away from that man named Ben. I can sense he is no good at all. I can tell he's danger." The prince warned the princess. The princess nodded without hesitation.
It wasn't the first time that the prince had warned the princess. Even when the princess was young, he warns her of the dangers that may come, even the man that had visited their parents once. After a few chats and stories he red, the princess had slowly fell asleep. He stood up and looked at the window and muttered.
Just a few more days and I'll be home dear sister. Just wait for me." He stated and change back to a dog and slept.
