Vincent's POV
My name is Vincent Greg Ward, Youngest child of the ward family who owns the biggest farmland n Aimosan. I had an older sister and brother who are working at the royal palace as the maid and the butler. My sister Veronica Geneva Ward is the personal maid of Princess Cassandra while my brother Gilbert Elvin Ward was the butler and the personal assistant of Prince Caspian. While I am here in the farm helping. I'm not jealous that they both get to work at the palace. I kinda like working here and I am also not away from my parents. I planned on working here soon enough dad will pass it on to me when he retires.
I am currently feeding the horses when someone was pulling my apron. I looked down and it was Princess Cassandra and her dog.
"Can I ride one now?" She asked. I nodded and took her to ride a horse.
She laughed and enjoyed the fresh breeze as we walk down the city. Now you ask why is the the youngest child of the royal Dixon Family doing in the farm? Well, I am babysitting her. My sister is supposed to be here but there was an emergency at the palace and she was at the park watching over Cassandra when it happened. They needed every help they get and I happen to be there to deliver some fruits and vegetables to one of our stalls in the city. I stayed at the royal garden where there are horses that we sold to the king before.
"Woof woof." I was startled when the dog suddenly barked from behind. I looked around and saw that he was fallowing us. He's lucky he's my friend. I checked if someone was watching us and whispered.
"Notice something buddy? Should we go back?" I asked and he nodded. I looked at the princess and was having thoughts if I should tell her that we should go back but she seemed to be having so much fun. Among the Dixon siblings, only this one gets to rarely come out for safety measures. I breathe deeply and speak to the princess.
"It looks like it's getting dark your highness and it seems this horse is also getting tired. Shall we head back now?" I asked. It was a half lie. The horse is completely fin but it was really getting dark.
She drooped her head and nodded. If it were me I would really like to bring her out more but not now. Not yet. It is dangerous for us to just wander around and we have no guards with us so it's best that we head back while there is still light. When we arrived, my sister was already waiting outside and took her to their table for dinner.
I took the horse back when I turned around Tryce was there. He stared at me and walked away. I followed him to a dark place where there's no one that could see us. When I checked and see that we were alone. I looked at him as light starts emitting in him and he changes back to his old self.
"So what is it?" I asked. I've always know who he was and that I am the one who let him in our kingdom and let him through the palace. I wasn't easy but luckily Cassandra was smart and we manage to let convince her and took him in. It wasn't easy keeping it to her as a secret that he was no ordinary dog but we manage to pull some strings to it.
"I san Ben starring at the window of his shop at us. Like he was monitoring to see what we were doing." He stated. I knew what was happening in the kingdom. An ambush was happening but we don't who it was or when is it coming. Good thing I was friends with the Preacurins.
"Well did sense something else from him?" I asked again. The only thing we know right now is that he always went out to the woods at night when no guards are roaming in his area. I gotta say, he's quiet sneaky and clever.
"Well I can smell fire and another smell from that wasn't his. But it's kinda fading since the smell of bread is covering it. But there is one smell that's bothering me." He said as he was remembering what he was. Since this dude is a prince, he is most likely to have magic in his hands and only the royals have the most magic out of all magicians. Except for the Preacurins, every one of them even the low-borns are able to hold such magic but there are limits to it for safety.
"It's kinda weird that you can smell him and that I am gonna let it slide. So what is it that you smelled in him that's been bothering you?" I asked.
"I know bakers hold lots of equipment when baking and a knife is no exception but it's weird that I can smell iron in him. unlike his other co bakers, the smell of iron on him is strong and that it seemed like he had knife with him. I am afraid he might be up to no good." He seriously stated. That is weird. I Know bakers and even cook have a different varieties of knife for cooking but if he said that the smell of iron doesn't fade that is quiet odd. He must be planning a to murder someone.
We had small discussion about this matter before he was called in by the princess. We said our goodbyes and headed on separate ways. Something big is coming and I know it. I just hope I am prepared and that I am able to protect everyone I love.
Third person's POV
He slumped to the couch as he catches his breath from running back and sneaking to the guards. A woman came out of the kitchen and was surprised to see him there.
"Goodness! Where have you been? I thought you were in bed. What are you doing here?" The woman asked as went closer to check on him.
"Oh I'm fine. I just went for some fresh air something caught my attention so I went after it. I dodn't notice I was getting far so ran back here." He answered. "Anyways I'm getting tired so I'm going to my room and rest. You should get some rest too it's not good for you and your baby to stay up this late." I replied and leaned down to kiss her womb. He stood up and smiled at her before heading back to his room.
The woman caresses her womb and smiled. "He still worries about me." She whispered as she stood up and went back to her room as well.
Meanwhile, as he sat down on his bed counting the gold he collected today, he hid it back under his bed and lied down as he was thinking.
"Soon we'll be living this place and starting on our own for real. No more errands and no more treats just us as a family." He murmured to himself as he fell asleep.
