Declaration of the New King

King Vulhelm appeared above the roof of the three-floored building. It was just adjacent to the church. He made sure to gather everyone's attention. "People of Lemorio! Hear me out, I will deliver the truth the church nor the Mendovian history has told us."

The people who prayed suddenly stopped to stare at the King. "Is that King Vulhelm?"

"So that old rug is still alive?"

"What a shame."

They began murmuring against him.

Vulhelm sneered. He then yelled. "Why don't you listen you, foolish peasants!" His blood was boiling. If he was still in power no doubt, he already sent these people to the guillotine.

It caused everyone to get annoyed. "That bastard!"

Vulhelm cleared his throat. "As I was as saying, we've always been hated by the 21 countries of Trimperial due to the Dark Summons several years ago that summoned the Demonic Vexus Path. We have suffered from discrimination and deaths. Our land was taken and our freedom was stripped."

He continued. "According to the Mendovian history, it was due to my father, Ferdinand Vulhelm who summoned the northern devils. They were right, it was my family who summoned the devils."

The civilians were even more riled up. "It was you damn royals!"

"Die you bastard King!"

"You left Princess Maurice and Prince Arthur on Mendovia, you coward!"

Vulhelm was almost close to erupt, but he held it in. "Yes! The devils were summoned, but the devils we summoned were supposed to appear on the 1st ring of Celpheus Forest."

The people were confused. They were staring at each other. "What do you mean?"

"What is he talking about?"

In the northern lands, there were true demons that everyone feared was found, though it was distant from Mendovia and Rezgareth Kingdom.

Those true demons caused thousands of deaths upon humanity.

King Vulhelm's father summoned the demons just so they could win the war several years ago. Or so they thought. But it turns out they were different demons since they were supposed to appear later in the 1st ring forest.

Even if that was the case, the summoning of the true demons that were a threat to humankind was blamed on the Vulhelm family and the Silians. That was how history was written by the Mendovian race.

King Vulhelm read all of it in the ancient texts to which his father has researched.

He then continued. "I have good news, the devils have been summoned but they are not the barbaric, grotesque, and ferocious demons you have in mind."

When King Vulhelm heard of Melvin's proposal during the Grand Meeting, he was convinced. He finally summoned the devils that were supposed to save the Silian race and humanity. In the ancient texts there were various types of devils, these types were called as one because their methods and knowledge have far surpassed that of an ordinary person.

Their power could even rival those of the true Demons in the far northern area.

"I will now descend to the throne and offer it to Lord Melvin Clyde! As the former King of Rezgareth Kingdom, I will allow him to rule this land and bring prosperity. In exchange Melvin, if you are listening, grant freedom to my people in the Mendovian continent. Save my children!" He then spoke aloud. "And everyone, follow him. All your frustrations will be gone once you do. I believe, he will be a great ruler!"

A spear flew from the crowd and struck Vulhelm's chest. He then gasped as blood came flowing down from his mouth.

Someone from the crowd wearing a hood on his head clicked his tongue. "Be quiet old fool, you speak too much."

Vulhelm fell from the roof. Everything went slow as he finally met his eternal slumber. He then smiled. "I have no regrets."

As Melvin and the others used a different route to infiltrate the church, he heard some of Vulhelm's words. Though he didn't get the gist of most of it.

He was given a key by the King that would allow him to access the ultimate truth. He just needed to go to the Lemorio castle and see it for himself.

Before they left Hervil's room last night, the King also wrote something. Melvin promised to read it once this was over.

They went on the backside of the church. Only a wall was found there, though the security was loose.

Two people from the Spear Fall Brigade joined them. They carried some crossbows and aimed at the church Agents. With a shot, they took them out.

They couldn't afford to use their guns since they are almost running out of bullets.

Sting was found on the roof constantly monitoring their surroundings. He was giving the signal to them.

When the coast was clear they decided to climb over the wall and then went inside the convent campus.

"That was easier than I expected," Melvin said.

"Yeah, but we just can't rest easy." Hervil mentioned.

They then sprinted towards the entrance of the bridge to the heavens and earth tower. It was a spiraling stairway that led to the top of the tower.

The northern walls were in chaos. Below, in the iron gates, it was being stabbed by goblins with their spears. They were trying to bring it down. Though it didn't have any effect.

The archers were surprised when several goblins were climbing the walls like they were lizards. Due to their panic, they fired even without being given orders.

The chain of command was in shambles.

General Chagrin unsheathed his blade. He intercepted the goblins who managed to reach the rampart. "What the hell is the church doing?!" He then hacked the goblins upcoming close.

"General, there is still no message from the church." Said one of his men.

"Tsk!" Chagrin then called out to his men. "Men! Into formation!" To his surprise, the men behind the walls were running. He got pissed. "Where are you going, you cowards?!"

When he looked behind him, he noticed a giant goblin head. It was now nearing him. Chagrin was frozen from shock. "Huh?"

The walls were then brought down as the giant goblin slammed upon it. Since it had a weak foundation with its dried brick wall, it easily crumbled.

The goblin foot soldiers, to riders, then poured inside. They cackled as they began to clash against the Vallion Knights.

The Vallion Knights could fight against the goblin foot soldiers but seeing the three giant goblins spanning a few meters in height, they could do nothing but run. Their formation easily fell and thus they got hunted by the goblin horde.

The giant goblin began stomping and kicking upon the soldiers like they were dolls. They began flying and slammed upon impact to the ground.

The goblins were stabbing their bodies until their spears could penetrate their armor.

Some Knights fought valiantly. They managed to slay some goblins, but they were overpowered by their numbers.

It was only a matter of time before the city was overrun by these creatures.

Chagrin was found lying on the ground being buried by bricks. Only his face was exposed. He fell after the wall crumbled and it piled upon him.

He pulled himself up but noticed his legs and back were broken. He couldn't help but yell in pain.

Just when he thought the church was their final hope, everything backfired. He couldn't believe even the church abandoned them.

To his surprise, from the sky, a giant vulture being ridden by a goblin dove to him. It passed by and decapitated him. His lifeless torso fell and blood trickled down.

Sting was observing on his scope. He could see that the northern walls were brought down. There were also giant goblin heads sticking out from the background.

"So these are the goblins, huh?"

Teisha gasped. "Lord Sting, what should we do?"

"We wait here for now."

Minnie was more worried. "Lord Reaper if nothing is done, the goblins will slay the citizens."

"It will be even more difficult if we leave our post. Besides, what can you do against those hordes."

Minnie closed her fist. She then gritted her teeth. "Lord Reaper, I need to go for now. I will call the adventurers guild to help us protect the city."

Minnie was already expecting Sting would deny her. To her amusement, Sting gave a nod.

Minnie was glad. "Thank you." She then went away.

Teisha beside him was silent. She couldn't bring herself to talk, but it was obvious what her intentions were.

Sting sighed seeing her. "Go if you want to."

Teisha leaped and then hugged her. "Thank you, Lord Sting!" She then followed Minnie.

As for Sting, he couldn't afford to leave his post but while in here, there was something he could do. He aimed his scope on the flying giant vultures. Unlike dragons they didn't have much scale protection so they were relatively easier targets.

Bang!

A giant vulture a hundred meters away was knocked out from the sky.

On the top of the tower, the Pope along with the rest of the bishops were operating the Controllion machine. There were others as well like the Reveallion, Shellion, and Controllion.

Each machine was identical. Their shape looked like a giant piano. There were buttons on its face, in which they could tap. It looked like a steampunk machine with its large pipes and bloated sides.

They have been configuring the Controllion for a while now. Only a little more and they were almost finished.

To their surprise, a wooden spear got flung out and struck one bishop operating the machine. Blood came out from his body, he then fell on the floor.

A man with a hood was being accompanied by several goblins. What was odd about this goblin was that their eyes were glowing in green.

"Dertuk, what's the meaning of this?" Said the pope.

Dertuk lowered his hood and revealed his face. He was not human. He had a grey skin, horns on his forehead and tusks from his mouth. "Forgive me, but I have no intentions of letting you use the Controllion."

"Don't tell me it was the Trimperial who gave you those orders."

Dertuk laughed. "Who else? Do you really think the Trimperial will just sit around while you're planning something in Celpheus? Haha, you're naive, no wonder the church lost against the unified magic council."

"You and the Trimperial will pay for this!" The pope spat.

Dertuk then raised his arm. "Alright boys, get them."

The goblins shrieked, they held unto their spears and then used them to massacre the bishops in front of him.

Melvin and the others arrived at the top of the tower. However, when they came, they stumbled upon the corpse of the church officials. Though the pope was nowhere to be found. "What a mess."

Hervil pointed at the machine. "Luckily, we can still use the Reveallion."

Hervil took a luminescent stone from the Controllion and transferred it to the Reveallion. He was then configuring it.

Melvin was amused. "You know your stuff, huh?"

"King Vulhelm gave me instructions on how to use it."

At that moment, the machine glowed brightly. It sent out a flash to the heavens, and it was seen by millions of people and even beyond the continent.

In the Fort Wind air force base found in Vesna, they managed to see a beam of light piercing the sky.

Lieutenant Mars smiled seeing the light. "Alright, men! Prepare the choppers. We got our signal."
