Chapter 145: The Warrior's Blade

Rhychard squeezed Renny’s hand as they passed through the front door of the Murky Cauldron, Famallumi close behind them. A sign had been hung on the glass door, announcing that the Cauldron was closed as they celebrated the life of Rose Tillery, with a picture of the young witch beside it. Rhychard tried not to think about why Rose had died. He had been lectured enough that her death wasn’t his fault, though he was still unable to shake the blame. If he had been better at being a Warrior, he would not have needed to depend on others to help him fight the battles he wound up being stuck fighting. Kree, Famallumi, Tryna, and even Renny had told him that no one could fight alone and expect to win. He had needed help when he faced Vargas at Harvest Fellowship and, as it turned out, he needed an entire community to help him defeat Bertram Leary and his sister. People had died both times, people he was supposed to protect. Their deaths weighed heavily on his mind and heart.
