Selina bit down on the rage that filled her. The Darkness was stronger this time. Something had changed, but what? She couldn’t let Stephen know she struggled to control whatever was inside of her. She didn’t need to hear an ‘I told you so’ from him tonight. No, not a smart idea. That would probably send her right over the edge. She needed to reach out to her mother, find out what had changed and why.


“You seem tense,” Stephen said, shifting a little beside her. “Do you want me to switch channels? I know gore isn’t really your style.”


Selina forced a smile. “No, no, really. This is fine. You were already watching this when I came home. It’s all right.” She snuggled closer to him, hoping his touch would settle the beast within her. “What is this movie about, anyway? I can’t figure out the plot.”
