Chapter 106 - Daughters of Darkness

As Kayla opened her eyes, she heard Kalinda moving beside her. Their flight over Harbor City turned out to be a bust. Evidence of the Darkness was everywhere: dead trees, scorched earth, wilted flowers, but Clara was nowhere in sight.

Since they were safe with no clue where to go next, Damien took his leave, giving Hannah a tight squeeze and telling her to call him if she needed anything. As soon as he left, the others plopped down in the chairs around the table, blowing out a collective breath of exhaustion.

“I’m sorry about your mother,” Kalinda said, shaking her head.

“I’m not,” Hannah snapped. “She planned to kill us, would have, if this thing hadn’t turned on her. Sorry, not sorry. She got what she deserved.”
