Cath

My body froze up as the elevator doors opened. All of our co-workers with their bags are waiting outside the elevator and my best friend was one of them. All of them seemingly are unaware of what just happened inside the elevator. Gavin got his composure back and finally got off the elevator, with the crowd of people parting to let him through. I followed him immediately and got back to my desk.

"What took you so long?" Andrea asked as I quickly packed up my things.

"Here." I barely croaked out handing her the paper bag.

"Why is your face so red? Are you okay?" She continue to ask and I just nodded and took my bag before dragging her back to the elevator. When we got back, there were no more people waiting in the elevator. Andrea kept on pestering me about what happened but I kept shushing her.

"Good afternoon Sir." She greeted the newcomer and just with that remark, I knew who she was talking too.

"Good afternoon ladies." And the deep voice that greeted back just confirmed what I already knew. Gavin was standing right behind us.

"Just tell me why your face is turning so red?!" she impatiently wailed as she turn her attention back on me.

I felt my face heat up even more and I knew I had no choice. I pinched her side, getting her attention and leaned closer to her.

"I'll tell you later, okay?" I whispered to her and she just smiled at me.

"Kay!" she cheerfully said as the elevator opened.

"What!" Both Zab and Andrea exclaimed after I finished telling them what exactly happened in the elevator.

I buried my face into my pillow to hide my already beet red face from the two people who I know will make a big deal out of what just happened. Oh my gosh! Who am I kidding? Making out with my boss inside an elevator is a big deal! I haven't had any serious relationship. I can't even remember when the last time I kissed someone and now, I made out with one of the most sought after bachelors.

"How about Matt? Are you not gonna meet up with him since you have Gavin?" Andrea suddenly asked.

"Of course I would still want to meet Matt." I said slurring my words through the pillow.

"So you're going to meet Matt while you're dating Gavin?" Zab asked making me pop my head out of being buried.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, and they both just shot me glances that made me a bit uncomfortable.

"Look, guys. I seriously don't know what to tell you. To be honest, I don't think Gavin likes me like that. What happened inside that elevator was an accident and besides, he has a wonderful girlfriend. I doubt that he would give up Gabriela for me." I continued.

"Have you look at yourself lately? The campus beauty from high school is definitely making a comeback." Andrea said. Just hearing her call me by that title out loud send shivers down my spine, and not the good kind.

"Have you seen Gabriela? Please, I'm a spec of dust compared to her, and don't even bother convincing me otherwise 'cause it won't work." I said to her cutting her off before she spits our non-sense again.

"So, you're just going to pretend that the kiss didn't happen?" Zab asked, making me confused on what I really want to happen.

"I think so. I don't want things to be weird between me and Gavin. Especially that I work under him. And also, Gabriela seems like a nice girl, I don't want to come between them just because of an honest mistake by me and Gavin." I replied, earning a sigh from the two of them.

"Okay, so when do you want to meet up with Matt?" Andrea asked, and as if he knew that we were talking about him, my phone started pinging.

{Still awake?}

The message said and it immediately put a smile on my face.

{Yep. What you up to?}

I immediately replied.

{Had a crazy week. You? We hadn't talked much through the week? Looks like someone is keeping you busy Zoe.}

I can't help but feel guilty. I have this inkling that I somehow neglected him.

{Sorry. I've been busy the whole week. A lot of up coming projects.}

"We lost her Zab! Let's just leave your sister in her date and sleep." I heard Andrea say and the two of them left my room.

{Its fine. Just messing with you. Don't take things to seriously Zoe, I might think that you did something scandalous today.}

And that just shocked me to my core. There is no way the he knows what happened to me today, but even with that knowledge, I can't help but be worried of what he thinks about me.

{You're not cheating on me, are you? I know we're not official and we still haven't met in person, but I like to think that we're a bit exclusive, right?}

He said before I can even reply to his previous message.

{Of course not. Let's just say, I've been distracted lately.}

I replied, wishing that he would just drop the topic.

{Should I be jealous of this distraction?}

{Jealous? What are you talking about?}

{Am I losing me girl to this distraction?}

He asked again, and I honestly don't know if his joking or not.

{When did I became your girl?}

I asked trying to divert his attention to us instead of the distraction he is talking about.

{Fine. Fine. I'll stop prying. By the way, have you thought about when we could meet?}

{I'll see if I can fit you in my schedule. Haha. Kidding aside, I'll let you know. Maybe after we release the second volume of the new comic I'm working on.}

{Okay, its a promise. We better get some sleep. Good night Zoe. I'll see you soon.}

{Just don't get your expectations high, okay? Good night Matt.}

And with that, I set my alarm then went to sleep.

"They got here together, and since going in the two haven't left." I heard Belle say to a group of people crowding around her cubicle.

Its still early in the morning and they're already gossiping like no tomorrow. I don't know who they're talking about and I'm not even interested in whatever it is they have to say, so I just went straight to my desk and sort out what I needed to finish for the day.

Don't know how, but time seems to move so fast today. The next thing I knew, it was almost lunch time already and I'm almost half way done with all the work that I have to finish by the end of the day.

"Hi Cath. Do you want to have lunch together?" I flinched at the voice that came from behind me, I turned around and found myself face to face with none other than Gabriela.

I don't exactly know what happened after that. All I know is fifteen minutes after Miss Gabriela popped out behind me, we were already getting out of her car at a fine dining restaurant to get lunch.

As soon as she started dragging me away from the office, I texted Andrea telling her about what's happening but Gabriela pulled me out from the office so fast that she didn't have enough time to bail me out.

I sat down across from Gabriela and I don't know how I should act around her. Yes, she's been really nice to me from all our encounters, but I still don't know her. I don't know if it was all just an act and somehow, I felt guilty around her and yes, that guilt has something to do with the kiss that happened yesterday.

I didn't know what to say to her so I just waited. She smiled at me then started going through the menu that the waitress gave us. I tried to do the same, but obviously by mind couldn't focus on anything else but the fact that I'm here, right now, having lunch with the girlfriend of the man that I kissed yesterday.

"One meatball spaghetti with home brewed iced tea and a blueberry cheesecake for desert. How about you Cath?" Gabriela said, smiling widely at me as both she and the waitress waited for my response.

"I'll have the same. Thank you." I answered closing the menu in my hands and giving it back to the waitress.

"So that is, two meatball spaghetti with home brewed iced tea and two blueberry cheesecakes for desert." The waitress said confirming our order, we both nodded at him and so she left, leaving me alone with Gabriela again.

"How are you Cath?" She asked as soon as the waitress was out of earshot.

"I-i-i'am fine. I think." I answered shyly making her giggle at me.

"By the way, thank you for having lunch with me." She said still smiling at me.

"Its no problem ma'am."

"Hey! Stop that. Just call me Gabby." She replied and then I felt a pang of guilt punching me in the chest. I couldn't bring myself to answer her so I just nodded.

"I'm not really someone who beats around the bush, so..." I think my heart stopped as soon as she started that sentence. Gosh! I'm in so much trouble. I tried to calm myself down and make myself believe that what she was about to say is not what I think it was.

"How was your kiss with Gavin?" and that question just drained all the color from my face.
