Preparing For Seed Sprouting

March 18th, 0001:

Yesterday afternoon went as expected with me being able to collect another 5 coconuts, 13 oranges, and 11 avocados after I decided to spend all my time collecting seeds. Once the day was coming to an end though, I came to the realization that I still had a way to get the seeds to sprout before planting them, I decided to leave it for today though.

So once morning arrived I was still stuck trying to find a solution to the problem. Although it was certainly possible to simply plant the seeds in the ground and succeed as they had to be grown that way naturally, the big problem related to the fact that doing so had a low success rate.

Which while something that wouldn't usually be a big problem, became rather troubling considering the quantity of the seeds around the area. As it was evident that the fewer seeds we had to waste the better. Which also made it all the worse when I found that about one-fifth of the seeds I got into a pile yesterday cracked after drying.

So after running out of ideas, I just gave up and decided to ask the system how to get the seeds to sprout. And while I was able to get the info quite easily, I still noticed that just like the last time I asked it a question it seemed to be really annoyed and stressed.

From the information I had received, apparently, I needed to get wood in order to carve wooden boxes, wooden trays, and wooden cups. The boxes were for the coconuts, despite what I thought had to be done in order to get all seeds to sprout it turned out that each had to be treated in a specific yet sometimes similar manner, and coconuts just so happened to have to be submerged underwater for three to four days before being able to start the sprouting process.

As for the other two, the cups were for the avocado seeds which had to be partially submerged in water in order to sprout and had to be watched carefully in case of algae started to grow on the submerged part. And finally, the trays were for the orange seeds that had to be surrounded by a light breakable material that was biodegradable and watered with the paper being one of the most commonly used, sadly though since I didn't have access to it I just had to put it in small pile dirt over a wooden surface and hope for the best.

So now knowing what I needed I decided to gather everyone up and get them to start collecting wood from trees across the river rather than next to the area that was already cleared out. This was because at first, thinking that I would need a lot less space, I believed that I could fit all of the trees into the area that had been cleared out recently, but now that I had actually checked the numbers it became clear that this was nowhere enough space to fit all of the trees needed.

On the bright side though, it was certainly enough to fit all of the Suri bug farms I would need in order to feed the population of the settlement for years to come, so the area would not have been cleared out for no reason.

Plus, in a way, this was a good thing since I could just start making the farms on the other side of the river, and no longer have to worry as much about how I was going to fit both homes and crop farmland into the same area. For right now though, I had to focus purely on clearing the land on the other side of the river.

As for what I was doing while everyone else was collecting wood and transporting across the river, I was simply making prototypes of the boxes, cups, and trays. Mainly so that I could use them as an example of what everyone else would be trying to create once I taught them how to make them.

I was thoroughly surprised though when I was done though, because by the time I had come back they had already collected 40 wooden logs, which was more than what I had anticipated. It was honestly terrifying how efficient we humans were at destroying everything around us. Regardless since we had what appeared to be way more wood than needed I just signaled everyone to stop and got them to come over to where I was.

And as I had beforehand I just used the same method to teach everyone what to do, thanks to their previous experiences though it wasn't as hard as when I tried to teach them other things. Once we were on track though we continued working without stopping until afternoon came around at which point we had already made 56 boxes, 29 cups, and 27 trays. (I divided everyone into separate groups).

After having lunch I decided to do my training for the day while everyone else got a break. Recently, although I had been getting slightly faster and stronger, the only real problem that I faced was that for some reason my stamina seemed to be decreasing rapidly.

At first, I had just assumed that the change had been mainly because I wasn't following a strict schedule and basically only did my workout every other day, but the change seemed way too drastic for that to be the reason, so just in case I pulled up my stats to see if anything was out of the ordinary, after all the system did say that it kept track of my physical health.
