Just like before they parted their ways. Since it was just the daybreak the war had not resumed meaning all of the beast men were in their respective camp. It was riskier than last time but they had no choice except sneaking in the camp.
Ray, the wolf tribe leader was in the morning meeting with his generals and troop leaders. He was massaging his temple with each incoming complaint from them.
"Chief, there is not enough weapons for our fighters. If this continues we will surely lose this battle against those puny foxes." The commander was the first one to come forward with his complaints. Following his suite the other beast men also poured out their dissatisfaction.
"Forget about the weapon, those foxes are way too cunning and have laid traps everywhere. We need someone who can identify them." The next beast man said with a heavy heart.
"Chief, even the medicines supply is running out. We don't have enough doctors." Another one brought a sad news. After everyone had expressed their problems they calmed down and looked at their chief waiting for his statement and decision.
"Want to give up on this war?" He looked at each of them with his golden eyes.
"Chief, that's against our pride. How can you even suggest such a thing?" One of the leader blurted out .
"So what do you want me to do?" He threw the reports on the bench and waited for their response. He really meant what he said. He had no idea how to solve these problem when the bloody war was going on.
Looking at his domineering aura and murderous glare no one dared to speak a word. They couldn't go against him even if they wanted to. Their silence spoke everything.
"All the problems you mentioned, even those fox are facing it. It was going to be war of sheer will power and I had already warned all of you when this war started." Ray calmly explained while noticing each of their expression.
Anger, helplessness, guilt, hatred. He noted them down in his mind. Even with all these problems they still hadn't lost their hope and will and that was all that mattered. "Today, I will be joining you as well. We can't let this war rage on anymore." Ray concluded this meeting with the final decision.
Naturally, chief and tribe leader were not involved in war until the situation was dire. They understood the war was going to end now that the chief was going to the battlefield. All of the soldiers got renewed strength knowing they would be fighting side by side with their powerful chief.
Ray who was about to head the inventory to check out his weapons caught the sniff of the familiar enticing smell. "That stupid woman is back here again." Ray smirked. Honestly he was a little happy knowing that female had come back for him.
His helper who was about to help him change his armor turned around only to find the empty space.
"Fuzzy, you sure it's a safe distance to eavesdrop on them?" Mina was struggling to keep her cool as she hid in a thick bush. She looked at her feet where some weird bugs were walking and crawling on. She only heard the last statement saying the wolf man who was head over heels for her was joining the war followed by some cheers and claps.
"Fuzzy, can't we change the location." Mina was sweating buckets when another bug that looked like centipede started to move towards her.
"Fuzzy, I can't anymore." Mina hated bugs and especially the crawling ones at that. Throw her in a tiger cage, she will not be frightened but bugs were totally different story.
[Host quiet. Are you trying to get us caught?] The system was irritated with the constant wailing of the Host. After some calculations and approximation it had decided that place to be perfect for Eavesdropping on them but its host couldn't handle the bugs well.
[Host, wait for 5 seconds ok?] the system tried to buy time to gain as much information as possible.
Mina looked at the centipede and counted in her hearts. Each second felt like an eternity to her. It could have been her illusion but she felt the centipede was moving towards her even faster. Before the five second was up Mina swiftly stood up from her hiding place only to lose her balance by tripping on her own feet.
[Host, maintain balance.] The system immediately sensed the danger and even gave out the solution but Mina was frozen as she proceeded to fall towards the ground.
"Got you." A strong arm caught her by her waist as she was lifted from the ground into a princess carry.
"Big wolf??" Mina looked at the handsome face of the man before her who had...wait he had doggy ears coming out of his head that were flinching now and then.
Mina suddenly blushed not at the man but at his ears which looked too cute and too good to be true.
'Too cute..I might die.' Mina thought in her head. The system who heard its host saying someone else was cute, "...…."
[Cheater.]
Mina was surprised to hear the sulking sound inside her head. Mina was filled with amusement as she wondered if her system was jealous because she praised someone else for being cute. "Ohh, I can smell something burning." Mina teased the system in side her head.
[Host is a bully, A big one.] The system was filled with remorse for sending that cheater message to her. Both of them were in their own world.
'Yo, what are you doing here?" the domineering sound reached her ear waking her up from her thoughts. Mina looked at the zoomed in face of Ray who was staring at her. 'Too close.'
"Did you miss me that bad?" He grinned at her showing a smirk at the end.
"I am here to talk with you." Mina struggled to come down from the stubborn and strong arm which didn't let her go. Ray felt an electric surge throughout his body and immediately loosed his grip. Taking this chance Mina finally escaped free.
Feeling the empty arm he finally released it was the females' doing.
[Use of lightning attribute has been detected. Mana has decreased.]
[ Mana level: 50]
'Stupid wolf, made me use my Mana.' Mina looked at the notification and then glared at the almost electrocuted by her Beast man.
"Let's go somewhere else to talk." Within a few seconds they arrived on a totally different place. "It is my personal space." Ray looked at Mina who was observing the place. It was beautiful.
Looking at the female in front of him, Ray felt his possessiveness about to arise. "I don't have much time, tell me what you want to say."
"This war.." Mina looked at Ray before she continued. "This war is much more than it looks on the surface." Mina wanted to see his reactions but he was listening to her like a stone statue. "I have my reasoning and doubts about this but I think the one behind this is not the fox clan but the Lord of the Beast man species." Mina concluded her hypothesis in one breathe making sure she spoke out only the necessary and important information.
There were still no reactions from him.
"Are you even listening to me?" she looked at the mighty wolf leader. 'he probably doesn't believe me.' Mina felt a little sad.
"Give me one reason why I should believe your nonsense." Ray was glaring at her but in fact he was actually shaken by this possibility.
"I have my reasons that I can't tell you but you have to understand this. You people broke the natural law then think who would be the angriest one?" To further convince him she looked at him and said, "The only one powerful enough to mess with two big tribes at the same time is none other than…" Before she completed her sentence she was interrupted by Ray who added, " The Beast King, Lord Kennedy."
"If what you are saying is the truth then this kingdom is going to have a blood bath it had never seen before." His eyes were blood red.
Before Mina could breathe a sigh of relief he added. "But if your assumption is wrong and it only further escalated the war, are you willing to take responsibility?"
That was a hard choice to make but she decided to gamble on this one. "I will. I don't know what waits if I fail but I will take responsibility."
Looking at the determined gaze of Mina he felt proud inside. That was a female he had liked and she was not disappointing. "Are you going to talk with the Fox clan leader?" Ray asked Mina who was waiting for further questions from him.
"My partner has taken up that job and trust me he will succeed in convincing her." Mina replied confidently. Max was a lot stronger than her. "A partner??" Ray looked at her with his wide eyes. "You already have a partner?"
"No, we are just buddies working together in a mission." Mina hurriedly explained worried he might misunderstand the term partner. "Okay, if you say so." Ray said that but he still looked at her suspiciously.
'Why was I worried about him misunderstanding my relation with Max?' Mina face palmed herself looking at her own actions. 'The main mission is going to make me crazy arghhh!' Mina felt helpless.
"It's time to head back." Ray caught her by the hand and within a few moment they arrived back at the bug swamp. He led her by the hand towards the camp.
"Why am I coming with you?" Mina asked him as she was dragged to the center of the camp. "Your work is not finished yet. You have other people to convince as well."
"Huh???" Mina looked at him confused silly.
Before Mina could react she was standing in front of a mass of beast man who had the same look of confusion as she did on their face.
"Huhhhhhh!!!!" Mina shouted in her head. She looked at Ray who gave her all the best sign as she gave a naughty grin. He was totally playing with her.
How did she suddenly got in this unfortunate mess of making some savage beast understand some human logic??
