Chao Duyi and Hei Bao continued to converse in the dimensional gap for a long time.
They both felt inexplicably close to one another, and had very similar views(like those pertaining to the redundant names of the systems, etc.).
As time went on, Duyi began to notice some changes in his body.
He had began to solidify in the dimensional gap a bit, and the poison became centralized to his hands and feet, creating weird designs up his arms and legs.
They were no longer under the skin and had surfaced like ink.
He no longer 'passed through himself' either.
"Xiao Hei, what is happening to the poison?"
The black ball flew around Duyi in a circle, seemingly to do a once over of his physical condition.
-Host, currently, your attributes are adapting to your spectral form.
-Your spectral form will help you adapt in the next world. So the stronger your spectral form, the less likely you are to be rejected by a world.
"Can you help me see myself?"
Instead of answering, a projection immediately showed up in front of Duyi, mirroring him.
Never mind that he was stark naked!
The purple veins had shockingly turned into purple coloring on his hands, and weird designs formed up his arms and legs. They were checkered like snake scales.
Looking over his shoulder, he could see them coming up his spine as well.
He could now see that some changes had occurred in his appearance itself as well.
His eyes now lifted at the end like a peach blossom, and his eyebrows had turned into a sword shape.
His hair had grown to his shoulders.
He looked like a poisonous, evil fairy.
... And he was absolutely stunning.
The charm points weren't for nothing then!
"Xiao Hei, was I always so handsome?"
Duyi crossed his arm over his chest and leaned into his cheek with his palm.
-Host actually was always very handsome, but, due to research, had severe myopia and never got to show it off because of thick glasses.
-/(╯︵╰)\
-No one was allowed to be more handsome than the male lead in your world. There were actually a lot of cases of severe myopia because of this fact.
"Huh. That's actually pretty funny."
-No host. There were massive losses of beauty because the way the author imagined the male lead was as their average-looking high school crush.
"Pffft!!"
-Host, please!
The two continued to talk in the dimensional gap until he had completely solidified.
"Hey Xiao Hei, can I have some clothes?"
-Let me see what I have on hand...
Ding!
-Sorry I used the wrong function for a second.
-... All I have is a pair of silk pajama pants...
"...That's fine."
-Later, when we go into the next world, I can store an outfit or two for the dimensional gap. I was just unprepared.
-QAQ
"It's okay Xiao Hei."
Duyi reached out and brought the little black ball into his arms.
"What world are we going into first?"
-Host can pick anything you desire! There are so many worlds in the microcosmic web! Think of anything and we can go!
"... Can I go to a world and use one of my degrees?"
-... Host can, but he may have to go to school to receive qualifications in that place.
"Obviously."
-Then I think I have a world in mind for us!
"I was wondering... am I still alive?"
-In a way, yes.
"Do I have to travel forever in different worlds?"
-Not exactly, but I can't tell you that specificity yet...
"I understand. It's okay Xiao Hei."
-I wish I could tell.
-(。•́︿•̀。)
"Do you know what happened to my family?"
-Your life insurance payed well, they held a small memorial, and they got on with their lives.
"What about my computer history?"
-... Your sister set your house on fire.
"That's good..."
After a few moments of silence, Hei Bao realized he had nothing else to talk about.
Who knows how long they'd talked to run out of subjects!
But he also noticed the twinge of sadness hanging over Duyi. He figured with time, Duyi would feel better, but your own death wasn't something easy to come to terms with.
He figured that Duyi needed a distraction.
-... Would host like to go to the first world now?
"... Yes."
-I'll begin a minute countdown then host.
[00:59]
-Using dimensional energy, I will shift your specter into an identity in the first world.
-When we reach our destination, there will be a quick plot briefing and a memory transfer.
-While the system is strong, it is not omnipotent. The world I chose is an easier plot for the host and will be more of an introduction into achieving objectives.
-The most important thing, however, is for the host to get strong and be happy! Please do not stress over the objectives because the system is reliant on the host as much as the host is on the system!
[10,09,08...]
-Good luck, Host!
"... I thought I didn't need luck?"
