Chapter 26: Result of the War Council

'He's not going to last for long!'[-]

'Don't stop even for a moment. I need to see it for myself.'[Calli]

I opened my eyes and saw Calli holding someone in the neck while looking into my lifeless eyes. I feel heat flowing out of my body and I almost got myself choked by the pool of blood in my mouth.

*Cough Cough*

"I...I'm sorry Calli..." [Edge]

Calli clenched her teeth and angrily retorted in rage

"YOU SHOULD BE TELLING ME THAT YOURSELF, NOW CLENCH YOUR FUCKING TEETH!!" [Calli]

She threw a punch at me and then I blacked out. I woke up the next morning finding only myself in the room we rented there was only a note that was left behind By Calli

{I'm going ahead to find a route into the elven kingdom, you should go back to the base with the old man and I will come back to regroup with you once I find the way in.

Upon reading it my memories were jump started and I remembered the conversation we had yesterday. I jumped into the bed and flailed around my limbs to express my shame. What if she takes it the wrong way, I thought. I cringed so hard I hit the floor and started rolling around the floor until the feeling finally faded away. I went and washed myself up to calm myself and set off back to the military base using the badge we're given. I arrived at the base safe and sound but there was only one problem.

"Sir she's been holed up in the tent since the war council ended yesterday, please help us get her out." [Soldiers]

"I'll see what I can do about her" [Edge]

I entered her tent and the tent was pitch black. There is a desk in the tent and a bed at the side of the tent. I heard a sobbing voice in the darkness.

"Mikochi? Can I come in" [Edge]

"It's okay you can come in" [Miko]

I looked around the room but I couldn't find Miko anywhere until I tried to look under the desk.

"I thought you went into the forest with Calli. Why are you still here?" [Miko]

She's curled up under the desk and presumably crying just recently from seeing the redness in her eyes.

"There were some complications..., we were stuck in the Candy Kingdom but Calli went ahead and scout the forest earlier this morning. She might return anytime soon." [Edge]

"Really! That means we could save flare before the war begins !" [Miko]

"What happened Miko?" [Edge]

My heart tightened from hearing the saying to save her before the war

"We failed to stop the war,,," [Miko]

"How? You were so sure that you could stop it, you came up with a sure fire plan, how could it fall through? " [Edge]

I suddenly had a thought.

"DID KANATA BETRAYED US?" [Edge]

"NO! She only did the right thing" [MIko]

Miko started regurgitating what happened during the first war council and then what happened yesterday.

"Now we will discuss the main reason for this war to be necessary."[A-chan]

"Allow me."[King Pufflegum]

A-chan nodded her head meaning to let him do the talking.

"Unbeknownst to others, there's a huge threat that is currently affecting the continent as we speak"[King Pufflegum]

"And that is?" [Miko]

Miko wearing a pair of pink glasses and resting her head on her crossed hands asked him the question.

"As we all know, the elven territory exists an underground spring that is connected to Candy kingdom."[King Pufflegum]

"But from the records, we have gathered for more than eons ago there was a great plague all over the continent and it happened at the same time after the King of the elves settled down upon this forest."[King Pufflegum]

"I don't quite get it, what's the connection here." [Kanata]

"Do you know why the forest was called the Forest of The Dead?" [King Pufflegum]

"A slaughter happened in the forest and mounds of the dead body were collected and buried there"[-]

The representative of pekoland suddenly spoke for the first time ever since she entered the conference.

"Exactly Miss Moona, it would seem that you're quite knowledgeable" [King Pufflegum]

Moona did not reply but only looked at him with calm eyes urging him to continue.

"Ahem, anyways the underground water spreads more further than we expected and it's at the scale of the entire continent!" [King Pufflegum]

"The continent is at stake! We just had our waters tested 2 weeks since the kidnapping and it has already been polluted. The Elves had started this war against the entire continent!" [King Pufflegum]

Miko made a tense face knowing how bad the current situation it has become for Flare. She starts to doubt her ability to set things right.

"If we do not act, we would be weakened left and right unable to defend ourselves from their assault after they had done hiding." [King Pufflegum]

"Pekoland, Holy state of god, Sike mura and my Candy Kingdom wouldn't last if we don't work together to remove this common enemy of ours !" [King Pufflegum]

"But the war would take at least years and meanwhile we would be dying from the plague during the campaign."[Kanata]

Shion made a loud kusogaki laugh and proceeded to say her piece.

"HAHAHAHA, well that's where I come in."[Shion]

Shion Pulled out a potion from her dimensional pocket and played around with it in her hands.

"With this potion the Demon Academy will provide, it can cleanse the water supply of our armies and cities during the war. So there's nothing to worry about and we can proceed to destroy them. "[Shion]

Miko stayed silent during the entire conversation because she knows that it's game over for them at this point.

"Now lets us proceed with the vote. Raise your hand to vote yes for the war." [A-chan]

On that day, apparently everyone raised their hands including Miko.

"Then it has been settled, war shall commence in 3 months. If there's still no response from the Elves' representative within the time period, the war will proceed without fail." [A-chan]

I can't help but think everything went too smoothly so I thought I need to take immediate action to bait out the mastermind behind lacing mana in the consumables in the city and probably here as well. I warned Miko about the food and asked her a request that shocked her.

"I wish to enter the forest as a scout." [Edge]

"Without Calli around you'll just get killed" [Miko]

"No, I have the Mark remember? Calli can find me using it. Don't worry I'll be fine."[Edge]

"Then I'll announce the information regarding the food and drinks to King Pufflegum along with your request to be sent as a scout." [Miko]

"Thanks Mikochi I will try to rescue Flare out of the forest as soon as possible. Can I get a picture of how she looks?"

My request was received and processed for a week before I was allowed to enter the forest. During that time, I was stuck with a musclehead onee-san. It's been a week and Calli hasn't come back, I started to get worried about her needlessly.
