Dark Elf - Chapter 15 - Cozy Meeting

We travelled to Ergis, and in a week we arrived there.We were there two days before the official meeting.So the king decided to let us visit the city,something I couldn't do the last time I went to Ergis.I knew where the meeting would take place so I tried to find a spot near to go to if I ever wanted to take a leave during the meeting.

I was wandering around the Senate when I found a way to go to the roof of the building next to the Senate.

I climbed over the wall and landed on the ground on the other side of the wall.I then looked around and saw something incredible.From this place you could see all the port,the ocean and even the sun when he was falling.And at night you could see all the stars without any problem.

The day of the meeting came two days later and the mayor of the city led us to the Senate,first the normal elves then the light elves and eventually us.

All the light elves were wearing a black outfit and all the dark elves were wearing a white outfit. Although my mask was still black.The fact that both our races had made the effort of wearing those outfits showed our will to bring peace after the dozens of years of conflict.

The normal elves were wearing a black top with a white bottom since they always were a neutral party.

We all entered the Senate and sat around a big table.The first hour,they talked about trivial things,not saying anything special about any important matter.

For the two following hours,they started talking about important things like border management or about potential alliances between our races.

After that,they took a pause and we were allowed a three hours break to eat and do what we wished for.

All of them went together to eat while I left the opposite way,quitting the Senate from where I had entered.I went to a bread shop and asked for two pieces of bread.I then made my way to the spot I had discovered earlier.I climbed the wall,landed on the ground and sat down a few meters away from the wall.

I ate my two pieces of bread and I was on my last bite when I heard some noise coming from my left.I looked at my left and saw a door that I hadn't see before.Someone just opened the door,and a split second after that,a girl,a light elf passed through the door.She saw me and sat the opposite direction of me.She must also wanted to be alone in a quiet place.

And for almost ten minutes we just sat there,looking at the panorama.Just after that I fell asleep against a wall for a few minutes and when I woke up,I had a blanket on me and the girl was gone…

I then went back into the senate and the adults continued talking about alliances and possible marriages and one of the light elf suggested that I should marry the eldest daughter of the light king.

At first I didn't really care but I then realized that they were talking about me.And as soon as I realized,I raised my head,looked at the light king and said out loud:

-Excuse me but in what right are you discussing my future without asking me?

The assembly was quite shocked and people started murmuring all over the room.The dark king then said:

-Excuse his behavior,he arrived at the castle only a few months earlier.

-Don't worry,we prefer that he speaks honestly.Said the king of the normal elves.

-That's right,but to answer your question young man,as royalty you have the obligation to follow some rules.Said the light king.

And just like that the conversation passed on another topic.

For almost ten days we went to the senate,hearing the kings debating on the same topic over and over.In the end,except the creation of a road between the three kingdoms,nothing was really decided.

We went back to the Dark Forest just after the end of the meeting.
