Chapter 9 Ten Star Alignment Art
As I walked out to the family's carriage, my mother was already in the carriage fanning herself with a fan made from Ice Wind Swallow's feathers while waiting for me. When mother bought that fan from a store specialized in monster beast accessories, the store owner had briefly explained the fan's unique ability to my mother. "Although the fan looks beautiful, there's also a special ability engraved within the fan. Gently wave it in front of your face and you'll feel cool no matter how high the surrounding temperature is. That is the special ability of Ice Wind Swallows that lives in the Burning Desert." I was pretty stunned when I heard that Ice Wind Swallows actually originated from the Burning Desert and were not natives from Coldwood Forest. What a weird bunch of birds indeed.

"Hello, mother." I greeted my mom as I climbed into the carriage. "Hello Fennikin." A fiery yellow fox could be seen curled up in my mother's lap.

"Took you long enough." My mom gave me a curt nod. "I can't believe you took 5 hours to change, and you hadn't even put on any make up...He's just your little brother..." Speechless by my actions, her face fell into her hands.

Seeing mother's exasperated reaction, I was delighted. How can the matters of love be understood so easily? It was the same for my feelings for my dreamy little brother Starfall, mother wouldn't understand. Oh my, I was actually drooling at the mere thought of Starfall, this scene would have made my mother cough blood. ; )

Along the way, I vigorously cultivated my Ten Star Alignment Art because I wanted to show off my power to my little brother...and my other siblings. My Ten Star Alignment Art is a mid tier Immortal grade cultivation art that allows me to sense, gather and absorb the mysterious Star Power. Legend has it that Star Power is origin element of the Universe. Anybody who cultivates Star Power to the peak will have the ability to create and destroy Universes at will. Of course, not everybody can cultivate Star Power. To even sense Star Power you would need an immense amount of talent and luck, hard work itself isn't going to get you anywhere here.

I say luck would be more important than talent because me acquiring the Ten Star Alignment Art was also entirely due to luck. My papa found this book in a treasure chest during his adventuring days and had kept it with him ever since. He could tell it was special after reading the title of the art but when he opened it, it was all blank pages. No matter what he did, neither his Immortal Eye nor a putting the pages over a fire could he uncover the words. At long last, when he returned home, he put it away for safekeeping.

20 years later, he got married to Mother and I was born. At age 5, I found the blank book in my parent's room and asked my papa whether I could have it. I wanted the book since the title of the book itself felt powerful. In my opinion, he probably felt like it was useless to him already so he didn't think too much when I said I wanted it. When papa gave me the green light, I excitedly ran to my room and flipped it open. Laying my back on my bed, I flipped through the contents of the book gloomily. Besides the the cover and the introductory page, everything else was blank.

Calming down, I sat up and read the first page aloud, "Introductory: Hello young one, congratulations. You've cleared the first condition to cultivate the Ten Star Alignment Art. The fact that you can read this right now indicates that you have an affinity or have a great destiny with Star Power. Since you have have acquired this book and cleared the first condition, you will have gain the right to participate in my, Heavenly Star Emperor's Inheritance Race."...'I have gained the right to participate in an Inheritance war?' I was indeed tempted but I felt like it was not worth it. "Continuing on, you may not have heard of me nor read anything about me but do not fret, for I'll be frank...I was once an Almighty in the Heavenly Star Universe who could create and destroy planets with a flick of my hand. Furthermore, countless wars between worlds have occurred just to acquire the right to participate in this Inheritance Race."

After I finished reading the first page and closed the book to digest the page's content, the book suddenly flipped open by itself and emitted brilliant light on the next 3 pages. When I squinted my eyes to take a better look, I was shocked to find out that there were words suddenly appearing from the top left corner of page 2 to the bottom right corner of page 4. "Nothing is nowhere?"

Just like that, an insane amount of Qi converge towards me as the center and I immediately felt bloated. My tummy was still flat and m body was still fairly thin, but it still felt like my body had reached maximum capacity and I was about to burst. Since standing hurt, I decided to sit down cross legged and meditate to try and absorb the excess amount of Qi in my body. It took me a full 5 days to absorb most of the qi in my body since I was only a child whose meridians have yet to fully open up. As I slowly got up from meditating, I felt my body becoming lighter and more nimble than ever. With just first line of the 2nd page, I had already broken all records as I became the youngest person to have reached Body Tempering realm in my entire family. After that, I was hailed as a genius and was trained and nurtured by the family. At age 10, I had already reached Spirit Refinement realm and acquired the privilege to become the direct disciple of Elder Yin of Snow Wind Valley, another 1st class force that specializes in ice elemental mastery.
