"Mia it's board daylight outside why are the curtains still closed," Luna asked. "I just want to stay out of my uncle's way and so far I have been banned from going outside. I just thought that they would prefer the curtains closed since no one is supposed to know I am here," Mia siad.
"What Mia, you misunderstand. They only want what is best for you?" Luna said. "It sure does not look that way," Mia said. "Mike has been doing everything in his power to get you back to the clover base," Luna siad. "That's only because they want me under lock and key. I am a danger to everyone around me Luna why would he care about helping me?" Mia siad.
Mia started painting again and Luna noticed that Mia was painting a picture of her parents. "You must miss them a lot?" she asked. "Yes well they are all I had, dad would have known how to handle this situation," Mia replied.
The phone rang but Mia ignored it, "are you not going to get that?" Luna asked. "No it's the rangers and I am not allowed to join them. Mary - Anne doesn't want to lose me," Mia replied. "What do you mean Mia?" Luna asked. "I got the best score in ten whole years," Mia siad.
"Congratulations Mia," Luna said. "Nothing worth celebrating I had to tell them no because of my uncles," Mia replied. "What why Mia?" Sally asked. "It's too dangerous for me to be on my own, they siad," Mia replied.
Mia and Luna spoke too well into the night all the while Mia was painting the portrait of her parents but Mia's phone would not stop ringing and Mia placed the phone on mute. Luna went outside and phoned Mike to check if he could tell the rangers to leave Mia alone. "She already told them no but they would not stop phoning her, plus I think Mia misunderstood your words in a bad way. She keeps the cottage locked and the curtains were drawn, why can she not go to the river and paint there?" Luna asked.
"What do you mean she keeps the cottage locked?" Mike asked. "Apparently it's what you and Kevin wanted. She hasn't left the cottage in days cant we go to the river so that she could paint down there?" Luna asked.
"No, I will deal with Mia and Luna leave her alone," Mike siad. "You're not being fair sir, she lost her parents and you're making it worse by leaving her alone. She keeps the cottage locked and the curtains closed at all times," Luna siad.
"I siad leave her alone Luna, it's for her own good," Mike siad. Luna left the next morning but not before she ran into town to buy a few things for Mia at the art store. "I dont understand why they are being so hard on you," Luna siad as she hugged Mia and left.
Mia was already in bed one evening when there was a loud knock on the door. She got up and walked to the door only to see her uncle Kevin standing there. Mia let him it and asked, "Is something wrong?" she asked.
He at her and asked, "are you in bed already?" he asked. "Yes, I was painting most of the day so I am really exhausted," Mia said. She let her uncle in but he stopped when he saw the portrait Mia was painting of her parents. "You painted this?" he asked.
"Yes, I didn't know I wasn't allowed to paint them," Mia siad. "I just thought you would paint things that we can sell," Kevin asked. Mia looked at Kevin and asked, "if you and MIke care so much about money why dont you sell it then?" Mia asked.
"What do you mean?" Kevin asked. "It does not matter," Mia replied. She fetched a few paintings she had finished and siad, "these are done and ready to be sold," Mia siad as she placed them on the table. She had a total of twenty paintings that she placed in the living room. "If you sell them it will be a start for all the money I cost you and uncle Mike," Mia said.
"You have been busy mia?" he said surprised. "Well, what do you think I am not allowed to leave this cottage or look at the outside world. I have to keep busy somehow since I hate the tv. It's bad enough that the phone won't stop ringing," Mia replied.
"What do you mean the phone won't stop ringing?" Kevin asked. "I told Mary Anne I could not work for them as a ranger. The phone won't stop ringing. she said she wasn't going to give up on me," Mia siad.
Kevin looked at the phone and siad, "you know we didn't ban you from answering the phone," Kevin said. "I hate that thing what use is it when it hurts my ears," Mia said.
The phone rang again and Kevin answer the phone after placing it on speaker. "Mia it's so good to finally get ahold of you, its Zara I am phoning you from the police station. I am investigating your parent's kidnapping," Zara siad. "Yes, do you have any word on them?" Mia asked. "No sorry Mia but I do want to ask you, if your uncle Zack ever came for a visit," Zara asked.
"No my parents almost never had any visitors, why do you ask," Mai asked. "Are you sure because the evidence tells us he was there when your parents were taken? How did you know he was in on it," Zara asked. "I dont know, it's hard to explain, instinct i geuss," Mia siad.
"Okay thanks," Zara said and put the phone down. Mia looked at her uncle and asked, "can I go to bed now?" Mia asked. "It's not even nine o clock Mia. Most teenagers your age would be out having a massive party," Kevin said.
"Well i am not most teenageres," Mia siad. Kevin shook his head and got up to leave but not before he said, "you do know you can open the curtains and move around the cottage on the outside. We only meant you can't enter the forest," Kevin said and left.
Mia went to bed and early the next morning Mia tried her hand at painting in the backyard. She left her phone inside the cottage and was busy painting a tree when she heard a faint voice in the distance. At first, she couldn't make out what it was saying but the more she listened the more she thought this person was calling for help.
Mia went inside the house to get her phone. She kept listening and decided that it would be best if she phones her uncle Kevin. Mia phoned him and it didn't take long for him to answer. "Mia is there a problem?" he asked.
"You do know I have sensitive hearing right?" Mia asked. "Yes Mia you told me last night, what's wrong?" he asked. "I think someone needs help, I can hear them but it's really faint," Mia siad. Kevin was quiet for a moment and asked, "If you can hear them then we are looking in the wrong place," Kevin siad.
"Do you want me to go to the river to see if I can point you in the right direction?" Mia asked. "You can do that?" Kevin asked. "Yes, or did you forget who trained me, if I can get closer maybe it will help," Mia siad. "I do not like it when you go off on your own like this but this is an emergency, but be carefull," Kevin siad.
Mia closed her eyes and listened for the faint voice. She moved closer and closer to the voice. She crossed the shallow river and walked through the forest. When she heard the girl was close by she ran to see if she could help but stopped when she saw where the girl was. Traped on a ledge after the tree that she was trying to cross broke and fell.
"Help me please," the girl shouted. "Calm down, I will try and get you out of there," Mia shouted back. "Hurry up, I dont think this ledge is going to last much longer," the girl siad.
Mia looked around for a way to get the girl off that ledge. She af first didn't see anything that she could use to help the girl. But remembered she had the earth ability. Even if she can not pull the girl up, she might be able to keep her from falling until help arrives.
Mia phoned her uncle Kevin, "Hello Mia, you know you should stop," but Mia didn't let him finish. "I found her but she is stuck on a ledge and it's about to break. I think I can keep the ledge from falling but I dont have anything with me to pull her up. Uncle I a north-west from the cottage she tried to cross a small canyon to get to the other side and the tree she was using to cross broke," Mia replied.
"Is she injured in any way?" Kevin asked. "If she is I do not see anything mayor but there is another problem," Mia siad. "What Mia?" Kevin asked. "I dont think your truck is going to get her, you will have to come on foot. Where she is, is no roads and the trees are too close together," Mia siad.
"That would be the case right now, okay help is coming try and keep her from falling," Kevin said and ended the call. Mia closed her eyes and took a deep breath. What she was about to do is not something she has done on her own before. The girl does not look heavy so she wasn't really worried but she knew she needed to try.
Mia closed her eyes and touched the ground with both her hands. She closed her eyes and imagined the ground and rock moving. Using all her powers Mia strengthened the ledge as much as she could but soon realised the ledge itself was really heavy and hoped her uncle would get here as fast as he could.
She heard dogs barking and the girl asked in a shaky voice, "what is that?" Mia took a deep breath and said, "just keep calm, help will be here soon," Mia siad.
