Chapter 33

"I take it you have a suggestion?" Kevin asked. "Yes, how about the apartment you used to live in. You don't use it anymore and if Mia lives there she won't be alone and we can help her. It's not like we have an emergency every day. I think Mia can learn to control her powers but we need to do it in steps and we need to figure out what it is in technologies that affect her," Amber said.

"If we figure out what affects her those investigating this storm will know what to look for," Red said. Kevin looked at Mai and said, "well the cottage is destroyed and I do not use that apartment anymore so I think it will be okay for you to use it at least until we have the cabin repaired. Mia's smile dropped the moment her uncle stated she would be going back to the cabin but she tried not to show it. All though it was visible to everyone around her.

Mia was released from the hospital that evening and found herself in an empty apartment. Apart from a table chairs and a bed. She sat on the bed and could not stop thinking about what her uncle had said. She had so many questions but no one seems to be able to help her.

The knock on the door brought Mia out of her thoughts and into reality. She opened the door and found Kevin standing there. She let him in all though, "I could not help but notice you don't want to go back to the cabin?" Kevin asked. "It's not that I don't want to go back, I know what I did was wrong but I still wish mom and dad were here. I am used to having one of them at home and I am just finding it hard to adapt without them that's all," Mia said.

"You think us leaving you at the cabin was a punishment?" Kevin asked. "Yes well, Red and Luna weren't allowed to visit and you wouldn't let me join the rangers. Sally is almost never there. I mean I am not even allowed to go on a morning run in the forest," Mia said.

"It's not that we are punishing you and I am sorry if it came across that way. Do we just worry about you? If you go somewhere alone it might attract the attention of the wrong kind," Kevin said. "I know dad warned me about the same thing, only mom disagreed whit both of you," Mia said.

"What do you mean she disagreed with both of us?" Kevin said. "She said that you should not be isolating me from the world this much. If I end up alone how will I know how to handle everything. You're not going to be alive forever you know?" Mia said.

Kevin laughed and asked, "did Zara really say all that?" Mia looked out of the window and said, "yea she knew something bad was going to happen to us. Dad should have prepared me for the world a lot better but it's too late now. I am already on my own and it's difficult."

Kevin stood up and went to the door. I will see what I can do to help you Mia but please understand we are not here to punish you," Kevin said. "Yes, I heard that already but you need to understand it's better to prevent a disaster than to try and stop a disaster from happening," Mia replied.

"Why do you sound like your mother just now?" Kevin asked. "She was my only friend, uncle can you blame me?" Mia asked. Kevin smiled and left the apartment. Mia was looking at the empty apartment. It was what they called a studio apartment. Apart from a small kitchen, the bed was in the living room and the bathroom only had a shower, toilet and basin.

Mia opened the curtains and windows to let some fresh air and sunlight into the apartment and discovered the balcony when she opened the sliding door. She stood staring at the view for what seems to be forever. She went inside and sat on the balcony looking at the endless view over the lake and at the distant forest. There was another knock on the door.

Mia opened the door and found her uncle Mike at the door. Mia remembered his warning about her causing another storm but waited for him to speak. "Is everyone okay?" Mia asked. "Did I not warn you about starting another storm?" he asked.

"It wasn't me, I was sick during the storm," Mia said. "Your mother should have taught you not to lie to me," Mike said. "But I am not lying to you," Mia said. "MIa your the only mega user that has a storm element you really expect me to believe your not the guilty ones," Mike yelled.

"But I am not lying to you?" Mia said. "THAT IS IT MIA, I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR LIES?" Mike yelled. That evening a truck stopped outside the apartment. Mia was shocked to see men in a strainge uniform. She looked at her uncle Mike for an explanation but she wished she didn't hear what he had to say next.

"I warned you this would happen, Mia, now you will take responsibility for your actions," Mike said. "Is she the one you spoke of Mike?" one asked. "Yes, she keeps losing control and this time people were killed it's better for her to be locked up from now on," Mike said.

Mia tried to run and she tried to call for help but the men gave her an injection and carried her to the truck. The last thing she remembers was her uncle's disappointing facial expression.

When she woke up she was in a dark grey room locked up. She was in a grey uniform and only had a small light that hangs above the room. She could not hear what was being said on the outside and soon realise she could not even see the sun.

That night she lay on her bed. She was finally out of tears and filled with anger. She was angry at her father for not preparing her for the world. She was angry at her mother for telling her to phone her uncle. She was angry at her uncles for not believing her and she was angry at herself for being the fool they made her become.

She vowed that if she would ever get released from the facility that she would never talk to them again. She would leave this part of the world behind and rebuild her life somewhere where people would not find her.

The door opened the next morning and she was taken to a room where they did many tests on her. They weigh her and tested her power asking her and pushing her to use her power. Mia did her best to do as they asked but soon she was taken back to her room.

Back at the base where Kevin now stood staring at Mike. "Why did you hand her over to them?" he asked. "You know why people died Kevin and I warned her not to create another storm?" Mike said.

"She didn't create this storm, it was someone else, Mike," Kevin said. "You are only covering for her and you shouldn't. She was wrong and needs to be punished," Mike said. He got into his truck and drove back to the clover base. The truth was he wish he didn't have to do it but in his heart, he knew it needed to be done. Kevin, on the other hand, felt that Mike's actions were wrong but without proof that Mia wasn't responsible, he could not help her.

Mia was stuck in an endless sickle of training and test. She was kept in isolation for two years, two years that she trained from morning to evening. Two years that she could not speak to anyone and the truth was. She learned that the only one she could count on was herself.

The day came that Mia was released finally, she had finally proved that she could control her power perfectly. Mia found herself walking through the long white and grey hallways to the big doors where her uncles were waiting for her. She saw Mike talking to her doctors and trainers. "Thank you for training her," she heard him say but Mia was angry. All thought she has learned not to show her emotions to anyone.

She smiled and greeted her uncle with respect. "You ready to go back now?" he asked. Mia only said what she needed to say and left the building determined to never return. She got into the car and her uncle drove her back to the base. All along the way, he said how happy and excited everyone is but she didn't believe him.

At the base, everyone was celebrating but Mia only acted happily. Mia found a well-decorated room and few gifts waiting for her but she was angry. Too angry to even care. She took the gifts and put them all in a closet without opening any one of the gifts.

The next morning Mia didn't open the curtains. She got dressed in her grey training gear and went for a long run. She trained from morning to evening alone in the field. That evening she got back to her room. She had just finished taking a shower and gotten dressed. When there was a knock on the door.
