Chapter 34

Mia opened the door and found a woman standing there with a tray of food. "Where were you today?" she asked. "Training?" Mia said. "You trained all day long?" she asked. "Yes well, it's what I have been doing for the past two years. I should know in the next week where I start my first job. Since thanks to my uncles, I am considered a treat to public places," Mia said.

"I thought they released you saying your not a threat anymore?" the woman asked. "It's true I am not a treat anymore but I am banned from public spaces. I have rules to follow now and not following them is going to land me back inside again. So I will be obeying them," Mia said.

"We are not going to send you back Mia?" the woman said. "You are not the one who will be watching me," Mia said. "What do you mean?" the woman asked. "This bracelet will tell doctors when I am a treat and they will come to drug me again," Mai said. "What no your uncle said this would stop when you left?" the woman said.

"No it does not stop, they lied to you?" Mia said and slammed the door in the woman's face. Mia didn't take to the food she didn't care about eating. There was a second knock on the door. Mia answer the door and looked at an angry Mike. "I will not let you talk to my wife that way you hear me," he shouted.

Mia took a step back as her eyes widened in shock. Her uncle left her standing there with food on a tray that he handed to her but her anger got the better of her once again. Mia went for another very long run. She got back her legs were barely able to carry her. She laid down on the bed and fell assleep without eating anything. She woke up a few hours later and took a shower again.

She warmed up the food and started to eat it. It was the best macaroni and cheese she has had in years. She cleaned her plates and went back to bed. A phone call the next morning woke her up just before dawn. She answered the phone and a lady told her that she would get an inspection that day.

Mia got dressed and cleaned the whole apartment. She went outside and waited in the driveway for her inspector. An old lady called Madam came to inspect her room. I noticed you beat your running record. That's good, now try and beat your record before I come for another inspection," Madam said.

The woman looked around her small apartment and said, "this is a beautiful apartment so don't mess it up." Mia lowered her head and knew what was coming next.

Madam looked at Mia and kept talking, "now my dear remember you don't deserve any of these beautiful things. Remember your power killed people and you are still serving your punishment."

Madam did what she needed to do and soon left the base. "Now remember Mia, I don't want to see that you were lazy, you will train every day," Madam said.

Mia trained the rest of the day and when she got back she found her uncle Mike standing at the entrance of the base. "How did your inspection go?" he asked. "Madam said I needed to work harder. I am not working hard enough," Mia said.

"But you were training all day yesterday?" the woman said. "It's not good enough they want me to beat my own record," Mia said and went to her apartment. This routine went on for the rest of the week until Mike cornered Madam one evening after she came to check on Mia once again. "Just how long is she going to train like this?" he asked.

"This is my last visit the next lady will help and train her for the job she starts tomorrow," Madam said and left.

The next morning Mia got up and ready for the day's training when she got a phone call. She went to meet the new lady who was surprised to see Mia in her grey training gear. "Mia why are you dressed in that clothes?" the lady asked.

"I was going for a run this morning?" Mia said. "You're still training?" she asked. "Yes Madam told me I needed to train harder," Mia replied. "Tell me you haven't trained this week?" the lady asked.

"I have done training every single day since I was released," Mia replied. The woman was shocked and took Mia's training bracelet. She looked at the data on her computer and had a worried expression on her face. She opened her phone and dialled a number. A male voice on the other side answered, "Clara what's wrong?" the man asked.

"Madam did it again? Mia has not had a day where she isn't training since she was released and she is still taking her medication and she will be starting her new job today," Clara said.

The man got quiet before asking, "how much has she exercised?" What Clara told the man on the other side of the phone even shocked Mike. "From morning to evening sometimes threw the night. She isn't eating enough and is overtraining. There is another problem, she seems to be very angry and the medication is not helping her anymore. We need to put her on something even stronger," the woman said.

"This has never happened before, find out why she is so angry. I'll find someone else for today's job. You will have to find a way to help her, but for now, take her back so that they can give her something stronger," the man said.

"Why does she need medication?" Mike asked. "It's to help her stay in control, the medication is supposed to suppress her powers," Clara said. "So she is losing control again?" Mike asked. "No I wouldn't say that but something is wrong. She's one that has always been angry but her anger is worse now. We need to determine if that's the medications side effects since the medicine is experimental," Clara said.

"You put her on experimental medication?" Mike asked. "Yes, your brother Zack signed off on the medication. He thought it would be better, he also insisted she needed to be kept in isolation," Clara replied.

"Why did you ask him and not me? I wanted her to learn how to use her power the right way. Not threw the use of medication," Mike said. "I understand but taking her off is not an option right now," Clara said and left with Mia behind her.

Mia was at the doctor's the whole week. They did all kinds of tests and determined that Mia's anger is something that has happened to her.

She will need to work through it herself. Clara looked at Mia's file and quickly learned what the problem is. Mia's anger is towards her uncle who didn't believe that she didn't create the storm. Even when she was proven innocent MIke didn't come to get her but left her there anyway.

That night back at the Clover base, Clara told Mike what she has discovered. "Mia's anger isn't from using the medication but her anger seems to be towards you," Clara said. "What do you mean?" Mike asked. "Tell me why didn't come and get Mia when the government proved she isn't responsible for the creation of the storm?" Clara said.

"I didn't have the time to help Mia. I mean I got married and my wife had a baby on the way. We thought it was best to have her stay there," Mike said. "So for your own happiness, you took two years of her life. Your brother placed her on medication and kept her in isolation. And now you want her to be happy?" Clara asked.

"What can we do to help her?" Mike's wife asked. "I don't know, from experience I would say the task ahead of you is not an easy one. Talking might not work," Clara said. Mia was in her apartment when she heard two people fighting. She closed her eyes and figured out they were fighting about her.

Mia was sitting on the bed the next day when there was a knock on the door. Mia opened the door to find Luna standing there, "can I come in?" she asked. Mia let her in and she looked uncomfortably around. "Why don't you open the curtains?" she asked. "I am used to the dark?" Mia said. "I want to talk to you but can you open the curtain first please?" Luna asked.

Mia opened the curtain and Luna sat down at the table and asked. "I hear you angry at Mike for sending you away?" Luna asked. "Who told you?" Mia asked. "I overheard Clara telling Mike," Luna said.

"I know how it sounds Luna but I can not help but be angry. I didn't create that storm and they punished me for it," Mia said. "Kevin didn't have anything to do with sending you away. Red tells me he was against it, to begin with," Luna said.

"So why didn't he come and get me then?" Mia asked. "His base was sent away to another district. They are doing really well, but Red wouldn't stop calling me to ask if you were okay," Luna asked.

"You, Amber and Red were my only friends but Mike took even that away from me," Mia said. "Don't say that Mia, its true he took those away but your back now?" Luna said.

"Yes, and what am I suppose to do now?" Mia asked.
