Chapter 36

Mia stared at Clara in shock but Sam came to her rescue. "So you think threatening Mia is going to solve things?" he asked. "Sam, you heard her?" Mia asked. "Yes, Mia did you already forget about my powers?" Sam asked.

"Sorry, I did forget?" Mia admitted. "What did Clara threaten Mia now with?" Mike asked. Sam told him what Clara had told Mia. "How dare you threaten her?" Mike yelled. Clara laughed but Mike has had enough. He phoned Clara's boss and said, "I am sorry to tell you but we don't need your help with my niece anymore. We will help her ourselves and come and get Clara before I thought her out," Mike said.

No matter how hard the facility begged Mike he would not let them have Mia again. Back in her apartment Mia found herself unable to believe what Mike had done for her and tried to show him how grateful she was but sitting around in her apartment made her feel quite bored.

Mia went for a run through the forest to the secluded area she discovered where she could train. It wasn't anything amazing but she felt safe using her own powers in this area. She had taken her cellphone with her that now laid on the rock not far from her. She was busy training her water element. When the phone rang suddenly and Mia lost control over the water element suddenly. The water fell to the ground and splashed all over her. With her clothes all wet now Mia answered the phone.

"Hello, there?" Mai said. "Mia where are you?" Mike asked. "Training, but I am on my way back. It's hard to just sit still when you are used to training all day long?" Mia said. "I understand that Mia but at least take someone with you," Mike said. "It's better for me to train on my own, if I lose control ill be the only one affected," Mia said. "Yes, but we will not be able to help you if you do?" Mike said.

"Anyway, I am on my way back now," Mia said.

Mia was walking through the forest when she heard movement in the distance. She looked around and notice she was being watched by Clara and a few other men. "Didn't Mike tell them to leave?" Mia wondered out loud. She ran down the trail back toward the base. She didn't care about the fact that her clothes were wet what she cared about was that she didn't want to be alone with them watching her.

Mia rushed into the door of the base and forgetting how wet she was she slipped on the tile floor and landed on her bum. Hearing the commotion at the base entrance Sam came to investigate. He laughed when he saw Mia, "what on earth are you up to?" he asked.

Mia laughed as well and said, "I forgot I shouldn't be running on tiles?" Mia said. "But why did you run Mia?" Sam asked. "Clara and some of the men in black suits I noticed after Mike called that they were watching me. I ran back as fast as I could, Sam something about them is really off?" Mia said.

"Okay, but why are you wet Mia?" Sam asked. "I was training with water when Mike called. I wasn't and got distracted. So I lost control and got water all over me," Mia said. Sam laughed and said, "at least it's only water but why was Clara watching you? I thought Mike told them to leave you alone?" Sam said.

"Maybe uncle Zack hired them again?" Mia said. "I don't know but I will tell Mike, you should probably go and change before you catch a cold," Sam said. "O right but first I will have to dry this floor though," Mia said. She attempted to clean the floor but after several failed attempts she used her water element to gather all the water and place it in the bucket.

"There the floor is dry now," Mia said. She looked at herself and wondered if she could dry her clothes the same way. Mia focused and soon found herself looking at a bucket full of water and she was wearing dry clothes.

"Nice I didn't know I could do that?" Mia said. She went to change into clean clothes and arrived in the dining hall. She could hear her uncle shout at someone but for once she could not make out what they were saying. As soon as she entered the dining hall she wished she didn't walk into the dining hall.

"Mia my dear, you came just in time. Tell me why don't you like the facility?" Zack asked. Mia looked at Zack and said, "why I don't like it there has nothing to do with you? I am an adult now and I can do what I want. Besides, I think I understand why dad was so against mom asking you for help?" Mia said.

"Just what is that supposed to mean?" Zack asked. "Exactly what it means, you would rather lock me up and throw away the keys than help me. I was locked up and kept in isolation on top of that my powers were suppressed. How is that helping me?" Mia said.

"Don't you like living in isolation like that?" Zack asked. "I like being on my own but I want company, friends I want to work for my own money. I want to make my own decisions and I want to achieve things that would make my parents proud," Mia said.

"Well Mia, my company can do all that for you?" Zack said. "So what, I don't need your company and besides you took two whole years of my life and I still haven't started my own career," Mia said.

"But I can help you with that?" Zack said. "We don't need your help, Zack," Mike said. "You don't mean that John asked both of us to look out for her Mike and I only did what I thought was best," Zack said. "They were supposed to help her control her power, not keep her in isolation," Mike yelled. "He is right you know and if my brother did ask you I don't think he meant lock her up and throw away the key," came a voice from outside the room.

Mia looked at smiled when she saw it was Kevin, "Kevin you arrived?" Mike said. "Yes and we're back for now. Mia the guys need help unloading. Red is waiting for you he will show you what to do. This is a conversation you should not be hearing," Kevin said.

Mia ran outside and found Red and Amber waiting for her. "Kevin said you need help?" Mia said. "Yes, we need your help unloading the dogs," Red said. "But isn't that usually your job?" Mia said. "Yes but everyone is busy that's why we need help," Red said.

Mia helped Red unload all the dogs but stopped when she saw a snow-white dog. "This one is really beautiful," Mia said. "She is, isn't she and she is all yours," Red said. It took Mia a moment to process what Red had said, "what do you mean?" Mia asked.

"Her name is Bella and she was abandoned as a puppy. I found her in the pound and well she reminded me of you," Red said. "Wait what are you saying?" Mia asked. "Well I am saying that she is your dog now Mia," Red said.

"Wait what about what Kevin said?" Mia said. "Well it took some convincing and training on my part but she's your dog now Mia," Red said.

"Mia opened the cage and said, "Hello Bella, I am Mia your new friend," Mia said. Bella came to Mia and started wagging her tail and giving Mia kisses on her face. Mia started laughing and Bella got really playful. Kevin's base members stopped unloading their gear and smiled. "Is that really Bella, she is a completely different dog," one said.

Red laughed and said, "I hope it's okay but I promised Kevin I will teach you how to take care of her." Mia looked at Red and said, "yes it's okay, I need to ask you something though," Mia said. "What is it?" Red asked.

"Do you think the facility and Zack have my parents," Mia asked. "We have been suspecting the same thing. There is no news on your parents it's like they disappeared into thin air. But the worst of all is the fact that Zack only cares about your power," Red said.

Mia looked at Red and said, "even though Mike told the facility he does not need them anymore. I spotted them watching my training," Mia said. "What when did this happen?" Red asked. "Earlier today, Mike told me he does not want me to train so much but I was bored and went for a run. I saw them on my way back," Mia said.

"You should be careful training on your own," Red said. "Yes, something tells me I might be a target now as well," Mia said worriedly. "Don't say that Mia," Red said.

"I know but I don't like it, this feeling something bad is about to happen," Mia said. Red and Amber looked at one another and Red said, "then don't go out on your own again, well take the dogs out for a walk tomorrow in groups okay," Red said. Mia agreed but as she turned around she saw the men in black suits hiding in the forest.

"Red they are hiding in the forest, shouldn't we close the doors?" Mia said. Red looked at the forest and said, "yes I suspect it would be best," Red said. He looked across the room and shouted, "close the doors, I think everyone is in," Red said.
