Chapter 38

Early the next morning Mia was busy getting ready for the day. Bella was sleeping on the bed and Mia found she could not take her eyes off the snow-white dog. Her life seems to have changed overnight. With Red, Amber and Luna as her friends, she was happy to know that she wasn't alone anymore.

Mia was busy making a cup of coffee when there was a knock on her apartment door. She opened the door and found Red ready for an early run with the dogs. "Your up I see?" he said as he entered the apartment. "Coffee before we go on a run?" Mia asked. "Yes that would be nice, we are early and it looks like Amber and Luna still needs to get here," Red said.

Mia made the coffee and gave Red a mug filled with coffee. He noticed Bella was still sleeping, "how was Bella last night?" he asked. "She slept on the bed the whole night. Red I need to thank you because for the first time since my parent's kidnapping I can tell you that I feel safe," Mia said.

Red looked at Mia and said, "no problem Mia just don't train on your own anymore," Red said. "No, I won't I think I will try to train closer to the base. I suspect Clara and her organization might try to kidnap me soon. I am not planning on letting them have their way through," Mia said.

Bella finally woke up and greeted Red with her tail wagging. Mia got out Bella's harness and leash and Bella got supper excited the moment she realised she was going for a walk. Mia laughed as she got a backpack ready with water for her and Bella as well as a few dog treats as well.

Amber and Luna finally arrived and together the group left the base to go on an early run. Mia was busy running through the forest when she suddenly stops and Bella growls. "What's wrong?" Red said as he stopped to look around. "Clara she is still watching the base," Mia whispered.

Red looked around and looked at a now shocked Luna and Amber. "Let's go back to the base and try one of the other trials," Red said. It was about an hour after the sun had raised that Mia was busy giving Bella some water just outside the base. Many of the dog handlers were busy tending to their animals. When Kevin came to Mia, "morning Mia, I see you up to training early this morning?" he asked.

"Yes, we went for a run together as a group uncle. We have just returned but Clara is watching the base, so we had to take a different route. Bella was a really good dog, she warned me the moment she felt danger in the area," Mia said.

Kevin looked at the forest that surrounded the base and said, "thank you for telling me Mia and thank you for going as a group as well," Kevin said and returned to the base. Mia gave Bella some water to drink and was busy drinking water when she felt a cold wind blowing from the forest. She stopped and looked in the direction of the wind.

"That wind was really cold," Amber complained. "Yea are you telling me winter is coming early?" Luna asked. "No that was an elemental user, that created a cold wind," Mia said. "Wait what, are you sure?" Amber asked. "Yes it's easy to create all you need is ice and a strong wind," Mia said.

"That's so not fair, I thought the winter was coming?" Luna said but Mia wasn't listening. "What's wrong Mia?" Red asked. "Another storm user is in the area, Red and I think this person is very strong," Mia said. "What do you mean Mia?" Red asked. "It's hard to explain but what I can tell you is that creating a wind that feels either cold or warm is not easy. I don't think I have ever done a wind like this," Mia said.

Red looks at the base and said, "you should take Bella and go into the base. Go tell Kevin and Mike there is a strong storm user in the area. The sooner we tell the authorities the better. Storm users can do a lot of damage to any area," Red said.

Mia took Bella's stuff and went looking for her uncles in the base. She found them having an important meeting with several of the base captains. Mia knew immediately she shouldn't have interrupted the meeting but it could not wait. "Uncle's I think theres' another storm user in the area. He just created a wind that felt very cold," Mia said. Kevin and Mike looked at one another and Mike asked, "where are you going now?"

"Back to my apartment, Bella needs to be fed her breakfast and I could use some food as well," Mia said. "Be careful Mia and we will look into it," Mike said but as soon as Mia entered her apartment she screamed. Her whole room was covered in ice. Several base members that were staying close to Mia's apartment came running to her aid but stopped when they saw the ice covering the apartment.

Mike came down the hallway and yelled, "what are you screaming about?" but he stopped in his tracks when he saw Mia's apartment. "I think we have a problem?" Mia said.

It was first thought that it was a local ice user that was pranking the base. Mia was stuck melting the ice in her apartment using her fire element. The protocol she followed in drying her apartment. Was not easy for her to do. First, she would melt the ice on one wall then she would use her water element to gather all the water and let it flow down the drain. Then she used her wind to gather any remaining water she might not have seen.

This was an exhausting job so when she went to get dinner and came back to an iced covered apartment you could understand Mia's anger. "What the hell, I do not think this is funny?" Mia yelled.

Kevin came to see why Mia was yelling and from looking at her reaction she could understand why Mia was so angry. "Didn't it take you all day to get rid of all this ice?" he asked. "Yes, and I am exhausted. I don't want to spend all night long drying my apartment," Mia said.

Kevin didn't say anything as he watched Mia starting to get to work again. She was so focused on getting all the ice out of her apartment she didn't notice Clara was standing outside Mia's apartment. "Tell me is she still busy getting rid of all the ice?" Clara asked the man next to her. "Yes but why are we asking her to do this over and over again?" the man asked.

"Because she needs to be kept busy, if she is too lazy we will be hit with another storm and I don't want to be blamed for not keeping her in control?" Clara said. "Don't you think Kevin and Mike will help her stay in control?" the man asked.

"Those idiots will not help Mia the right way so I have to do it," Clara said. Mia spend hours cleaning up her apartment but she was barely finished when the apartment was covered in even more ice than before.

"This can not be happening again," Mia said.

The next morning Red found Mia fast assleep on a couch in the coffee break room he went to check on her apartment and found it was covered in ice once again. He checked back in on Mia and discovered Bella was awake and she came to him. He took her and made sure she was fed and had water to drink. He was busy taking Bella back to Mia when he ran into Kevin.

"Why is Bella with you?" he asked. "Mia slept in the breakroom on the couch. Bella saw me and asked to be let out. I fed her and made sure she had water to drink I am taking Bella back to Mia now but I suspect Mia is exhausted from trying to get rid of the ice. Her whole apartment is covered in ice and this heat Kevin I think Mia is being targeted," Red said.

"Any suggestion Red?" Kevin asked. "We could try setting up a camera outside the base maybe outside Mia's apartment," Red suggested. Kevin looked at Red and said, "okay let's do it and see if we can figure out who is responsible for this ice in Mia's apartment.

It was during breakfast when Mike had complained about the ice in Mia's apartment. Mike looked at Kevin and said, "didn't she clean up the ice yesterday?" Kevin looked around and said, "Yes but it's covered in ice again we will be placing a camera to see if we can spot the culprit," Kevin said.

Mia woke up very late that next morning. A few members of the clover base yelled at her for not cleaning up the ice. "You are the laziest person I know off. How dare you wait for us to clean up the ice. There is no such thing as a maid on this base, go clean up that ice right now?" an older member of clover yelled at Mia.
