Building the Basics (Part 1)

Roran smiled at the five points that he gained from killing the monster, even though he didn't know what they signified. He asked the system, of course, "What are these points for and how can I gain them?"

[Points is currency that can be used for trading in the system shop]

[You can gain them by killing enemies. From Bronze rank, you get one point. Every extra rank you multiply the amount by 5]

"So show my the shop."

Roran saw all the previous items again, but with a point value after them. Then something caught his eye. It was "Complete statistics" for 5 point. Roran laughed, having gotten rid of the "Above Average" given by the system. He said, "Buy the Complete Statistics."

"Huh, I guess I can start building now."

[Would the Rifter like to modify a building into a Manor?]

"The one in the center."

Suddenly the tall building in the middle was renovated. The moss disappeared from the stone, and the stones, as if magically moving around, pieced themselves together into a brand new structure. Roran walked to take a look inside. The Manor had all of the necessary furniture and stuff. There was food in the cabinets, and a humongous bed in one of the bedrooms. The walls were all milky white, and everything was impeccably clean and tidy. Roran was satisfied.

[Would the Rifter like to modify a building into a civilian house?]

"Yes, leave it for the squire."

[Would the Rifter like to modify a building into a Monster Taming House?]

"Yes."

[Would the Rifter like to renovate all the buildings?]

"Yes."

Roran laughed seeing the age-old buildings transform into brand-new ones. He led the stunned squire to one of the homes, and commanded him to stay there. Then Roran tried to garner more supporters.

...

"There's ruins at this place?"

"Mount Scrycia has this?"

"What the Hell?"

Roran smiled as he saw his "visitors" swarm all over the place. After a few weeks of effort, he had gained maybe around 200 people living here. Of course, he had done many missions and many improvements. The Monster Taming House is now has 5 Mutated Sabertooth Spiked-Leopards, still juvenile but already bigger than an average human. Roran sometimes rode one to go on his hunting trips to procure more resources and also to find more monsters.

The inhabitants have a variety of skills. There are blacksmiths, apothecaries, cooks, and so on. This created a community that is able to sustain itself. The mountain also provided various benefits. Some of the miners have found a vein of Uridithnium, an important mineral that is used in the production of magical weapons, being a conductor of magical energy.

Roran has also already expanded his influence to a nearby city Urudoth. There is now an inflow of some tens of people every single day.

Someone laughed nearby, while the sweet scent of fresh cakes wafted from the small bakery on the main street.
