Chapter Twenty-four: Judgment Day

Two more months had passed by when silver tongue decided to use a storm as a beckoning call. At the moment, we were driving in silence, Lugh's hand engulfing mine. "How much longer? I gotta fucking pee!!!" I'll tell you one thing, being pregnant, you'll always gotta go to the restroom, and most of the time, I never seem to make it. He looked over at me nervously before pulling over to the side of the road for me to do my business; at that moment, I was the happiest person in the world.

"After yer done, we's take a break." His voice held no room for discussion as we got out of the car. I walked off glaring over my shoulder to him, pulling the skirt of my dress up and sweating down.

my fucking back hurts... My fucking ass hurts from sitting down too long... My fucking leg---

"Ya know, yer were always unladylike. I think that's why I feel for Ya." He was leaning against the front hood of the car, smoking one of his rolled-up cigarettes, watching as I let the skirt of my dress drop to my feet. "Had no care in the world of others opinion." I rolled my eyes at the statement, noticing him put the cigarette out as I waddled over to him.

"Can we go now? I'm getting annoyed. I want to get this shit over with." I trudged around the car and back into the front passenger seat, groaning as I stretched, letting the seat back. "Don't clobber me; ya hit harder now. Don't know if that's because yer pregnant or if it's the hormones." He made his way back to the driver's side, the journey continuing again.

---

I hadn't even realized that I had fallen asleep, praying my eyes to open slowly.

"Lass..." Lugh had called out to me, grasping my thigh in his hand, giving it a tight squeeze which woke me up further. "I'm awake..." I winced, letting the seat back up, looking around bewildered and wondering if we were anywhere closer to our destination.

"We're here...." He glanced over in our direction, reaching over to rub my belly. His eyes which happened to be the darkest shade of green seemed to obscure any emotions shown within his gaze. I knew that he was apprehensive; anything could happen to my baby and me if I weren't careful.

Today was the day that I was going to pass my judgment. Whatever gods that we're left seemed to know that Silver-tongue would seat all of them to despair. The world of gods didn't necessarily matter to me, though I knew if the dickhead remained alive, my children would suffer; this entire world would suffer.

"Whatever happens after this..." I trailed off, staring down at my stomach, rubbing the bulge in soothing circles. "We'll make sure to return to you safely. Just be at my back when I need you." I grasped his hand firmly in mine, and our eyes clashed and held each other like it was the last thing we would ever do.

Once again, we were at the museum fill with the world's most bizarre items, making our way to where the carousel spun with a breeze.

"Oh, good to see that you two made it!" Nancy seemed to come from the shadows, holding his hat against his chest with a knowing smirk on his face. I couldn't help but smile at him as he came into view, standing comfortably at my side. " I see things are going well, Queen." His eyes flickered to my oversized belly, noting my progression through pregnancy.

I rolled my eyes, feeling Lugh's arms wrap around my waist pull g me impossibly close to his side. "Very well, and they're about to get even better," I smirked as I watched Silver tongue walz in with his egotistically confident facade, his one good eye landing on me in fearful distaste.

"What is it, cat got your tongue, asshole?" I snorted as we all neared the spinning ride. He seemed to smirk. "Regarding the appendage used for speech, I'd say I'm doing very well." He spoke, sticking his actual solve tongue at me. At the sight, I couldn't hold back the laugh that crawled up my throat and shook my form.

he actually had a silver tongue now.

I wrapped my arms around my belly, laughing to the point where I peed on myself.

"What in the fucking world. This bitch just----"

Nancy, for the first time, called me something derogatory, my fist connecting with his mouth, splitting his lip. He winced and stepped back, grasping his lip in pain, his wide eyes flickering up to me.

"Son of a bitch, you hit like a fuckin' lad!" He hollered, earning a smirk from me.

"Be glad I punched you for your disrespect instead of removing your tongue." He glared at me as I smirked, my hands resting on top of my belly, sighing. "Now I need to change. Lugh, can you..." Even though he was silent the entire time, he still had a shirt, and a leg-length skirt held out to me in his hands as he dragged me away.

When he found the restroom, he walked inside with me, watching the door as I stripped out of my soiled dress and throwing it into the trash can. "You're silent. Speak up." I said after a moment of silence, looking at him through my topless reflection in the mirror. I pulled the too on just as he turned his head to make eye contact with me, his eyes flickering down to my stomach. "I just want ya to be careful. Yer worryin' me, lassie." He walked over and wrapped his long muscular arms around my waist, leaning down to press his head against mine.

I sighed, reaching up to touch his cheek before pulling out of his arms. "Of all people, you're telling me that?" I tilted my head up at him before waddling around him and out the bathroom door just as everyone else was getting onto the carousel.

I shuffled and climbed on with ease, feeling Lugh climb on and sit on the very same saddle, his arms locking around my torso. " Hang on, Lass." He pressed his lips to my ear and whispered over the roaring of the air whipping past our ears, everything fading to black.

****

Just like the first time coming to this wizard but beautiful landscape, I had lost consciousness on the way in, feeling the rhythmic swaying as someone carried me with little effort. "Lugh..." I whispered, slowly opening my eyes to see him looking down at me in his Ethereal Aura, the same tribal blue war paint on his face, his hair blowing in the wind.

"Want me to put ya down?" He stopped for a moment, watching as I began to get my bearings and senses back. I gave a slight nod, feeling another pair of arms wrap around my midsection protectively. When I looked down, I noticed that I, too, was in my Ethereal Aura. The russet arms that protruded comfortably from my side seemed to curl protectively around the life inside my stomach; the hieroglyphics painted on the arms were glowing silver.

When I felt the ground rock beneath my feet, I walked on, grasping the same silver spear tightly in my hand, making it inside the war room with the fire pit in the middle.

The gods were gathered around, Anansi and Bilquis sitting comfortably side by side as they watched me enter with the Celtic God of Sun blazing behind me. "Na-Nun." My voice was spoken quietly amongst the others, my eyes trained on Silver tongue.

"Glad you could make it, my dear." Silver Tongue's voice erupted loudly and echoed around the cavern, his petty speech going on and on about how to handle the new gods threatening to overthrow them.

New gods...?

It seemed that I had much more to learn and that also meant more people to get on my nerves, and from the way he was describing them, they seemed just as wrong as Wednesday.

Always quick to talk about someone else... Fucking duck fucker!

I snarled in frustration, gripping my spear tightly before rating it up and slamming it down against the ground. The metallic ring cut off all conversation, everyone's head turning in my direction.

"I may be neutral, but it seems the new idiots have a valid reason for wanting to remove you from power. Too bad they won't get to you first." I stared at Wednesday, watching his entire form shift sitting up, feeling Lugh's intense aura fluctuate behind me.

"Oh? So you challenge me?" He stood slowly, gripping his own spear in irritation. I just smiled, slowly walking forward until I was standing next to the fire pit.

"Yep. Prepare to become a Christmas ornament." I cheesed.
