Fawn waited outside the airport doors. Anticipation was eating her up inside. Her best friend was coming home. She wanted to tell Jane everything. She wanted to spill her secrets to her. Fawn had learned to keep a part of her out of her parents focus. She was a careful sole. She didn't care for scheduled life style. She did respect having rules and a routine. She just wanted more choices more excitement and all the love she could find.
Fawn had just got a new puppy. He was so cute and wouldn't leave her side. Fawn finally ventured out into the world and got her first apartment it overlooked a small park. It had a dog park a small walk away. Fawn's boyfriend had just asked her to marry him. She bubbled with excitement and hadn't told anyone yet. Her dad might just kill her before he gives her away.
Fawn wanted to tell Jane first. Jane was the keeper of her secrets. She gave the best advice and she seamed to always be on her side. Jane was the best friend. A true friend only a sister can be. Jane was always there for her. There was no way she could imagine her life without her. She loved her and was blissfully enjoying her surprises attack.
Fawn seamed to make connections with people easily. This was something Jane had always been envious of. Jane was more a cautious kind of person. She studied people and decided to let them into her world. She loved her sister but always seamed on the outskirts of her world. Jane always wondered how she loved people with such ease. Even more surprising they loved her back. The world always seamed to be kind to Fawn.
Jane exited the doors from the airport. She was expecting her mother. She always parked in the same place. Jane looked for her slivering hair. To her surprise she found her sister. She stood out in her bright orange coat sucking on a blow pop. A smile suddenly popped onto her face. Her body relaxed and she suddenly found herself five years younger.
"Where is mom" Jane asked Fawn as she smothered her in a hug.
"I convinced her to let me break you out of jail". She replied with a smug look on her face.
"What? That doesn't sound like mom" Jane was a little confused.
A large smile spread across Fawn's face. " that is because i took the car and text her on my way". She stood proud in her gloating.
Jane loved that her sister came. This was totally a Fawn move. She loved her alone time with Fawn. She seamed to show her the joy of being carefree. If Jane had done such a thing she would never hear the end of it. They spent years talking as children. when they where "sleeping" they shared their dreams to one another. They vowed to help each other find their special place in the big world. They promised they would always be there for one another. Those late nights just seamed to weld there hearts together. They created a bond stronger then titanium.
"Did you bring me my coat. I am freezing". Jane asked. Using her blanket to shield her from the terrible cold. The cold had invaded her body. A hint of worry was in her voice. She had stole the car and didn't bring the person she had asked.
"Ya, I got you covered" Lacey throw a bright orange coat as Jane. There wasn't much of a choice other then to put it on. Jane looked at Lacey with distaste. She knew her sister well and her father taught her to keep a spare set of clothes with her always. Oddly this was one thing that came to be more useful then she ever expected.
Lacey wasn't unaware of Jane's distaste for orange. She just simply smiled and finished her candy. This is one of Fawns reasons for loving orange so much. She yearned to be different and spread her own wings. Fawn wanted to dare to stand out and do great in the world. She wanted to spread joy and happiness. Which she did everywhere she went. If i don't get shot by a hunter. Well that my friend was a bonus. "You try being a baby dear" was always her response. Not much you could use as a comeback. People always simply accepted her with one simple fraise.
Jane sat in the passenger seat and sat back for the hour drive. She loved the formula sights and smells. As she passed local hang out points, memories flooded back to her. They seamed to be as fresh as ever and she loved them. There is something about home.
She thought back to only four short years ago to her friends. She was definitely going to have to see if any of them was in town.
Fawn broke the silence. It was typical she was naturally loud. A large gum pop exploded and was quickly reclaimed by her mouth. Jane just looked at her sister driving with pure glee. How had it been almost four years. She reminded driving to school with her. She remembered all her crazy sister's ideas. In someway she almost wished she could freeze time.
Fawn spoke as she did her face softened. "Jane i want you to meet someone". He is everything to me and i am going to marry him. I haven't told dad yet or mom. And i got a puppy." All her excitement had just exploded.
Jane was shocked and held in her sudden burst of emotions. She was surprised and happy and a little angry. Jane thought about how she should respond. She wanted to hit her and hug her and scream all at the exact same second. Jane looked at her sister and in the end all she really could do is be happy for her.
A small part of her wished her sister wouldn't be the first one to marry. She was the older sister after all. Then again even Jane knew she was a hopeless romantic. In her heart she knew Fawn would find her special someone first.
"That is so awesome congratulations sis. I definitely want to meet him. If he treats you with love and respect i am happy to have a new brother". Now if he doesn't he will have me to answer too." They will never find the body.
Jane through that last part in. They both had always looked out for each other and was thrilled in the end for Fawn.
"You got a puppy. Oh my gosh i am an aunt. What's his or her name. How old is he or she. How is mom handling that one."
Her mom always said that she had kids to make a mess she didn't need animals to attend too.
Fawn broke the last bit of news. She had been holding onto.
"Well, I moved out of the house. I got a job as an animal control officer. A job opening came available and i applied. I was so surprised when they called me in for an interview. It was formality at that point.
Jane was over the moon happy for fawn. Her world seemed to be clicking into place. Jane was so excited for her. Jane had a lingering feeling her world was about to change. That his might be her last year. Her last year for more then just school. Her world was going to shift and if she wasn't ready it might catch her in its avalanche.
