Thief

Troy fallowed behind Jane as they departed the plane. He looked at her rounded back side. A small he had perfected emerged at the corner of his lips. As a bit of tingling lingered in his stomach. He was definitely attracted to her shapely figure. Her hair draped down her back and glistened in the light. He saw how people would see her as high class in the right outfit. right how she was using a blanket as a shawl. He found it adorable.

Troy caught sight of her bracelet and he knew he had to walk away. Not for her sake but for his own. What would he do to save her? How far would he go? He just met her and a feeling of formality was already spreading through his being. This scared him immensely so. Never had he ever felt this was before. Never with a stranger he had met hours before. Help them yes but want to spread his arms around them and keep the cold away. Stand in front of to keep the looks from reaching her. Hold her hand to clam her as his own.

Troy was not a beginner in the dating world. He had girlfriends for as long as he could remember. He had a live in girlfriend for two years. He couldn't bring himself to ask her to be his. She was almost perfect. He loved her but couldn't cherish her. He wanted too. He tried too. She was supportive and he loved spending time with her. In the end she left him. He didn't blame her. she wanted a family Troy wasn't willing to give her. He could give her the moon and the stars but not a child. He never understood why. Troy meditated in this subject trying to figure out why. He wanted to be a father. Troy chopped it up in his mind that he wasn't ready. His career was still in the making.

Every year he got a post card of her family. She had beautiful family. She was married only months after they broke up. She was expecting immediately after. In less then a year she was a mother. Sometimes late at night he wondered if he was a chicken. Had he made the largest mistake of his life. He often rewound that conversation in his head. Him telling her he couldn't be the father of her children. The look of heartbreak on her face. That was his last relationship. He couldn't break another heart including his own.

Troy slowed his pace to put distance between them. Jane exited a set of doors. He caught a glimpse of a girl, whom he figured to be her sister since she was in bright orange. It was odd to him that they didn't look like sisters. Jane seamed to have a different body shape. She also seamed to be more reserved. He shrugged it off genetics was a fickle thing. Troy let off a slight smile. he said goodbye in his heart for the kindness she offered him. He was suffering and she brought him peace even if it was only for an hour. She didn't even know it but she was saving him from himself. Silently he wished her well and knew she would be a wonderful mother some day. He left her with a slight smile on his face.

Troy settled into his hotel room. He could go back home but his heart couldn't handle it. He opened his pack and placed his clothes in the drawers and hang up his suit. A sparkle of a tear reached the corner of his eye and his throat tightened. He remembered his training and quickly calmed himself. He wasn't dead yet. He had to be strong.

Troy took out his books and placed them on his desk. A small reading book dropped onto the floor. He reached down and realized he took her book on accident. He was a thief. It was a simple book. If you liked Greek mythology that is. He opened the book and found an inscription. It read

Out of all the goddesses and princesses all the queens gladiators and heroes. There is only one constellation that shines brighter then the rest. My little Jane the brave. Love dad.

Troy looked at the handwriting. Sometimes about it seamed familiar. Had he seen it before? if so where? Troy stopped and held the well read book. He looked at it and decided to place it on his night stand. Wasn't much he could do. Troy contemplated just throwing it out. A stern part of him told him to return it. How could he do that? He knew very little about her. There was always the chance he could be going home at the same time. That chance was slim since he didn't have a return ticket yet. He didn't know how long he was going to stay. One week was all he was given. Troy knew that was plenty of time. That thought squeezed his heart leaving him breathless. He throw the book on his bed and went to take a long shower to clear his thoughts.
