Jane started her morning in a mist of daja-vu. She made her bed ate breakfast with her family arguing over semantics. Then found herself in Lue's car. It was odd the feeling she was experiencing. She felt like something was going to happen yet everything stayed placid and calm. Almost a day repeated with no knowledge of the next upcoming event. Jane simply rubbed it off as nerves. She hated going to the eighth floor. A since of doom seamed to accompany the reaper on his rounds.

Jane quickly made conversation with Lue. She found herself laughing and remembered exactly why Lue was her friend. In no time at all laughter filled the car. It didn't mater the stage of life they where in it only made for great conversation. Lue and Jane where true first best friends. A conversation as simple flowed in ruthenium. Something as simple as the lunch they ate or the complexity of the universe. It really didn't matter they where happy to listen and share. Jane and Lue where in perfect unison.

Jane only had less then a year before she would graduate. She had a since of home in her heart. Jane started to realize people you love seam to create a peace. Home is where you are remembered and loved. She was starting to understand why so many people always come back to their roots. Her mind started to wonder and seamed to fill the empty space outside of her main thoughts. what roots had been growing without her knowing it. A simple smile stayed on her lips. Today the gloom wouldn't reach her. She was going to be the glowing light of hope for all and any who would accept it.

Jane reached the 9th floor dressed for the day with a pleasant smile. She started to assist people with televisions and gaming controls. She helped by bring blankets and art supplies. Anything to bring a smile or even a blank look and a head knob. Meal orders and thieved snacks from the nurses station. She had lost herself in the work. It was a great feeling to do a small amount of good.

As Jane was Finishing her day she took off her gloves and rubbed her hands. Four hours had expired quickly. She had a lunch date with her mother to keep. As she was walking to the elevator a sweet voice called to her. In some way it was like a calling song from the stories in her book. A since of guidance directed her with calmness and poise. A young lady about ready to be a mother begged for her assistance. Jane had thrown her gloves away and was looking for a new pair. This room seamed to be out. When she started her pleas Jane couldn't resist.

"Would you please hold my husband hand. I know it is a dumb request." She held her head down and talked softly. Her face showed a slight embarrassment. She looked like she could use a shower and a meal. The pore woman looked heartbroken. In return Jane's heart started to ache. In the moment this family should be rejoicing that where heavy hearted. Jane was sure there was a doctor watching her closely. At that moment whatever small thing Jane could do didn't seam helpful enough. Darn eight floor Jane quickly pushed the slowly rising though away.

Jane looked the woman in the eyes and replied with a simple heartfelt apology. "It isn't dumb i am sure."

"I really need to use the bathroom and my mother in law went to the cafeteria with his brother. Referring to the man in the bed clinging to the small amount of life he had. There seamed to be a whole lot of will produced by him.

"I just want him to know someone will always be with him. He will never be forgiven."

Her eyes started to glisten. If Jane's wasn't feeling her heart stings start to sing, they where now. In somehow in someway she wished within her heart to change the fate of this man. If she could save one person on this floor it would be him. She didn't have any power to change his but that didn't stop her from sending out all her prayers in her heart.

Jane looked her into her sole and simple reply.

Go to the bathroom take a shower and get something to eat i will hold his hand for you. If anything happens i will page you.

Jane took off her pager and handed it to her. It was odd that they still carried them but it came in handy to notify a large group of people in an instant. Even more so in a volunteer position. Since she was technically off the clock she figured it wouldn't hurt. She was best friends with the coordinator.

The lady said thank you and walked down the hall to the bathrooms. She was a beautiful woman. It was beyond sad to see her in such a hard situation.

Jane reached over and lifted the sleeping mans hand. Jane caught one more glimpse of the lady as she looked over her shoulder. She looked thankful at her a small amount of peace was shared between the two of them. Jane redirected her attention to the man next to her, he looked familiar somehow. She had that same feeling earlier on the plane. Today here sixth since was going crazy. She decided to talk to him. He wasn't going to tell anyone. She had been holding in the feeling since yesterday.

Your wife is really cute. Your a lucky man.

She is going to have her baby soon. I bet you would love a son to throw ball with. Or if you have a daughter tea parties are the way to go. I remember playing tea parties with my dad.

I bet you are excited. Have you got the room painted yet. I bet you do, you look like a pro.

I myself am still single. I have never found someone i could see myself with. I don't know why but romance just seams silly. I did meet someone yesterday on the plane. He was so handsome a little rude but there was definitely something. it was too quick and i will probably never see him again. But… it i do i won't complain. I bet you where a ladies man. You probably wouldn't understand my romantic problems. I am sure your a romancer stake dinners and everything. Never hesitate to make your move.

Jane was in the middle of talking when she got shocked by something. She stepped back in confusion and looked around As a nurse walked into the room.

The nurse smiled and came over to check his IV bags. She grabbed his hands and told Jane she could go. He must have understood the situation and wasn't about ready to argue with a superior. Jane looked at him one last time and walked away never to see him again. With a prayer in her heart she made herself to the doorway. This is why she hated this floor she felt powerless. It didn't seem right that people have to go through so much pain in the world.

Jane reached the cafeteria and found her mother. She reached her mom with the sadness she felt. Mothers have the ability to read the emotions. Her mother reached out and rubbed her shoulders. "One of those days i see, someone needs cake." I am fine Jane replied. "Who said the cake was for you" her mother asked in a challenging voice. It was all Jane needed at that moment. Her mother had done it again. Taken her sadness and swept it away. She was truly the greatest mother a person could wish for.

Jane sat at the table eating her dish. It seamed the further she got to the end of her food the more tired she became. Soon she put her fork down with a plate or partial eaten food. She closed her eyes just for a second. It was odd she couldn't ever remember being this tired before.

Mom just seamed to pick up on it. She brought her to the car and the two of them headed for home. With the world in a blur she fell fast asleep.
