Angela felt her baby move inside her. Reacting to the warm water the child wiggled. She softly rubbed her belly as the water rained down soon her. She closed her eyes and felt the pure joy. She knew she would never completely lose all of Reese. They chose to have this baby together. He or she was going to be the best of both of them. It pained her to know he would never hold his legacy. All the while she would cherish the creation that was part of both of them.
They where rushed for time and knew it was a possibility for time to run out. The last wish Reese could give Angela was still growing inside her. Reese would never be able to kiss the small face or hold the little hands. Play piggies with the small adorable toes. It was okay she would do it for the two of them. She would put her whole heart into this beautiful child. She would tell their baby all his stories, even though that wouldn't be enough that would be all she had left to give of him. That would be all he would leave behind.
Oddly she felt peaceful inside knowing that the nurse was there. Angela had this feeling that she was talking to a dear friend, when she asked her to hold his hand. She didn't know if they knew each other. Maybe she lost someone and could tell without knowing. Chances where she would have left by the time she got back. Angela knew that they couldn't be friends that she was just doing her job. There was something about the way she talked almost like a mother and a friend at the same time. She let the thoughts go.
Her Reese looked inside Angela and helped her find her best self. He talked to her and made her strong. To let the imagination of things be. He taught her that inside ourselves are two different people the one that is controlled by fear. The fear of what others think. The the other says, this is who I am and I make no excuses. He held her with those big arms lending her his strength. Teaching her to stand tall to talk with the truth and believe in yourself. They had only been married less then a couple of years. That was enough to last a lifetime, and yet at the same moment a hundred years wouldn't be enough. He was her missing piece.
She dressed in a outfit that had been thrown into a bag. She pulled her hair back looking in the mirror. Angela could see how thin she looked. She grabbed a protein bar from her bag and forced herself to eat it. She needed carbs too, eating had become such a pain. Trying to gain weight, all while trying to tend a broken heart, sucked. She decided a pasta salad was a possible item she could choke down. Angela took one last look in the mirror and debated on makeup. She felt sad and decided to skip it today. Reese probably wouldn't wake up again. That thought make her eyes start to glisten. Makeup was definitely a no.
Down in the cafeteria she held containers of prepackaged food. They all looked terrible but her baby needed to eat. So in return she was going to have to eat something. Quickly she settled on one and decided to head back to the room.
Her mother in law should be finished and be back in the room ready to try and cheer her up. It was good for Reese as well. She knew he could hear her and she had to be strong for him. He had taught her how to be brave. Strength come later, strength is what happens after you worked out, after you have cried but still kept on going. The run after the long jog. She wasn't strong yet but she knew that together they would get there. Even if all that is left of him, is their child.
Outside the room Angela froze in fear. She saw her mother in law talking to a doctor. The room had three more doctors inside. What where they doing! What was going on? anger spread across her face. He needed to rest not be Poked at. Couldn't they let a man die in peace. Then fear hit her again had he?.:: no, no, he had a few days at least. He had slipped in and out of his deep sleep the day before. She had to see for herself.
Then confusion hit her where was Troy. Why wasn't he standing guard. It was soon replaced with fury. He was his greatest protector and ally. She called him just three days earlier and he was finally here. So where was he?…: was he the cause of all this commotion? If so she was got to kick his shins.
She slowly pushed herself deeper into the room holding the tray of pasta salad. The nurse was arguing with the doctor. They where speaking above her understanding. They kept using words that she didn't understand, but the tone was clear. The other two doctors looked over the paperwork. They looked confused and in a large amount of disbelief. Angela stood there frustrated still holding her tray of food. Reese's leg twitched the nurse then pointed and with extreme frustration shouted "see i told you i wasn't making it up". All the doctors looked at each other and started to escort Angela out of the room. She stood there staring. When it happens again she dropped her salad shooting spiral noodles and cream sauce across the floor.
How could this be? Four years she knew him not once did his leg move an inch, on its own. The next moment Reese's toe twitched and he let out a small grown.
The doctors started to try and clear the room. One grabbed Angela and tried to escort her out of the room. Over their dead bodies was she going to leave him. She grabbed ahold of the bed and held tight. With momma bear strength that is where she stayed.
