Discombobulated

Troy saw Reese's leg twitch. He looked at the nurse with disbelief. Where they both seeing something, there must be an simple explanation. One of them must have bumped the bed. The second time was clear it was moving on its own. They stared age each other. This wasn't possible he was a paraplegic.

He hadn't moved his legs since he was thirteen. Not because he didn't try all the will power on earth couldn't change his situation. The fall was so traumatic he broke four of his disks in his lower back, both legs, pelvis, one arm and hit his head. Reese spent three months in the hospital. All while Troy spent one week this was the moment he decided he would become a doctor. Even when he wasn't a patient he was by his brothers side.

It was a miracle they survived. They where the only two at the creek. It was by fait alone that a hiker went down to the creek that day. They where even more lucky that the person was a military doctor. If it wasn't for him they both would have died at the very least Reese would have been a quadriplegic.

Troy and the nurse both rushed out of his room to retrieve a doctor. Leaving a gasping mother in the room. This was impossible even in a seizure his legs shouldn't move. Right now it was wiggling as the musicals flexed. They both needed answers and they where both dumbfounded. Reese suffered both a brain and spinal cord injury. This was impossible. It seamed like none of the pain meds where even working. He should be laying like slug slowly withering away.

Troy found himself in a doctor office researching all or any possibilities. Talking with specialists that where stumped just as much as he was. Not only was his body moving but his cell counts started to stabilize. They needed more test to answer more questions. It seamed like all the tests that they had received where only creating more questions. This is when the stories started to creep into the room. They had two myths to go on and both where seen but more of ghosts stories. The contacts from other hospitals all confirmed this wasn't possible. Some simple pushed it off as a joke played on each other as professionals.

One myth and the strongest standing one was that his body was giving way and he would die the next day. Some professionals call it the final goodbye. People who would in all other ways be dead seam to come back for one day. They eat normal, they talk clear, they are as they where before. This is when families are called immediately to say goodbye. Most family members look for hope in this shining last moment. Troy shook his head. He knew this was coming yet some part of him wished for a miracle. He had seen this once before. A lung cancer patient had all tubes removed and walked and talked for one last day. It was as soon as he went to sleep his heart just stopped beating.

The other myth was more of a ghosts story. Often professional would tease each other or even complement an impossible task. It was that of ghost story told among all interns. The story of the blue angel. This was a myth of unexplained recoveries that had happened a to people. their cells just start to regenerate bringing a person back to life. Some say a pasture comes in and blesses them and god wills them back to their glory. Others say the government is experimenting on people in secret. Some say the walls are haunted and the blue angle comes out to heal the chosen. Troy shook his head all gibberish. He was a man of facts. This was just a waist of his time.

Troy made his way back to his brothers room. Whatever was going on, he had no more answers then anyone else. Troy had come to a conclusion Reese's body had healed and with time maybe Reese would have been able to move those muscles. That the loss of muscle mass and not knowing he could move them was the result. It was probably do to the deterioration of the muscles and the extreme seizure that moved his body. His sister in law would be there soon he needed to be there for her.

What Troy found, when he walked into the room, was even more disturbing then what he left. His sister in law was clinging to the side of Reese bed. A doctor with a scowl on his face was nursing his shoes with a paper towel. Complaining about how expensive they where. The second doctor was ordering a staff members around. Nurses zoomed in and out of the room. While the third doctor tried to remove the pregnant lady that had welded herself to the bed. All his pleas fell on deaf ears. Reese wiggled from side to side groaning in his deep voice. His face was still locked in his sleep and sweat was starting to pile up upon his brow.

Troy was not the most qualified in the room. He was out of his jurisdiction. He had the least amount of experience. none of it mattered this was his family, and if you can't protect family, then you should just give up and go back to bed. Or at least that was Troys opinion at that moment. Troy's voice bombed and his authority shook the room. Soon order was restored. The god in Troy showed through an peace was restored.

Troy looked at Angela and with a voice, that could make honey taste sour in comparison, he simply talked to her. He explained what and why they where going to take him. The room had completed its transformation. Angela arms removed their clasp and Reese was zoomed away to the in a blink of an eye.

Troy made eye contact with his mother and she quickly left the room. There was no need for words they understand each other with a simple face expression. Troy kneeled down making eye contact. Her eyes where filled with tears. At that moment he saw throw Reese's eyes. He knew what made Reese claim her for his own. Do you trust me it was a simple question. It held more power then a bolt of lightning. Her eyes dried and her breathing steadily. I got this he confessed as he held both hands of her tiny hands. Angela looked at him and saw the sores of all the admonition Reese had for his older brother. Let me take care of him please Troy begged. Reese put all his trust in you, to care for your child. You called me and i am here now. Angela knew he was right. She knew that no mater the outcome, Reese would trade his life, for this life growing with in her. So she simply nodded and her eyes exploded. For the first time since they met Troy pulled her into a hug. He wrapped his hands through her hair as he shoved her head into his shoulder. She sobbed all the pain she had hidden inside he huge heart. Troy bore all the pain she carried on his shirt until her body calmed.

Troy's mother walked in with a new tray of food. She waltzed around getting everything situated. Right now they both knew who the real patient was and a simple mothering was the best form of medicine. In no time at all Angela was eating. Their mother had started talking and the color returned to her face.

Troy looked at his mother a woman who had a name but needed none for she mothered all that where in her reach. Her friends called her Ann but all who loved her called her mom. She was friends to the younger generation and she wouldn't have it any other way. There eyes locked in place for just a split second. Some would argue that they had the ability to read each other thought. It was more simple then that. They trusted each other and shared a similar thought pattern. Troy vanished from the room with no explanation needed. He was going to find answers.
