Awoken

Troy stood still as a whirlwind of memories flooded his thought. He remembered the day they carved their name into the tree. He ran his fingers along the tree scar. Tracking out the names one by one. The three of them all together. They packed that the three of them, would always be together. He couldn't help but allow the corners of his mouth to lift. All three of them spit on their hands and sealed it with their DNA. They named the fort Teleplos. They named it after a Greek harbor. It was the safe hold also called mighty gates. This was a place they could all sail too and be welcomed.

The fort was dirty and was a far cry from its previous glory. Troy remembered building this fort. A flashback hit him, he was holding nails and a flashlight. It was only for a split second. This was the first memory he had of his father. One that was solid and wasn't from his pictures he grew up looking at. Troy contemplated if this place brought his memories to life.

Troy walked along the paths as little flashes tickled at his thoughts. He remembered laughing and feeling free. He could remember the long Summer nights that they had snuck out of the house to watch the stars. He remembered talking about the stories told by the sky. He remembered sleeping peacefully next to her side. He reminded climbing this large tree with his brother. Adventures now turned into memories. Memories that seemed to be held in by the mighty gates of greek mythology.

He remembered everything except for her. Only a outlined figure remained in his mind. She seamed to hide in the shadows of his mind. He knew nothing about her except for her name and a few things he picked up from those short few hour, or what he was told. It wasn't till now that he believed that she truly ever existed in his life before now. That she truly ever meant anything to him. She was just another face in the crowd. Troy sat on the edge of the cliff thinking to himself, until the sun was high in the sky.

Her face was still blurry and he couldn't remember anything about her. He didn't know what she was like. Her favorite color or food. No mater how much he tried to remember, she was a mystery to him. Troy was troubled he had this great desire to be by her side. Like magnets pulled towards each other. He wanted to find her and keep her close to him.

Clearly she wasn't that little girl anymore. Time had definitely done it's magic transforming her into the glorious figure he had witnessed. Nor was Troy that young boy full of dreams and imagination so why couldn't he just let her go. Why did he keep searching for her in the corners of his mind.

Troy wanted nothing more then his life to rewind eight months. To have his brother call him and give him the double big news. He was secluded for a transplant and he was going to be a father. He wished right now he was congratulating his brother as he held his new born child. He wished he was an uncle that his family got larger and happiness grew with it.

Troy was confused yesterday he wished her away. He cursed at knowing his father was alive. Today he wanted to hold her close and never let her go again. Now he strained his mind to remember both of them. Today he missed a people he didn't even know. So how was she stuck in his mind. Why was he remembering his father after all these years. Why did she haunt his dreams. Most importantly what was he going to do now.

Troy returned home with more questions then answers. What was meant to be a run that cleared his mind, suddenly took a new path. It lead him further down the road of confusion Troy returned home lonely and in grief. Worst of all the one person he wanted to talk to was gone. He was moving on without him. Reese was going to forget Troy and that was the part that was killing him most. Not only was Reese alive he was gone. All the memories they created where going to be lost. He had died and was going to be reborn a new man.

Troy looked miserable when he walked through the door. Ann couldn't help but notice. This wasn't normal for Troy, exactly after a run. This was his time to shine, he had just physically released his stress. Normally it took a long while for it to build up again. This was a trait he got from her. Ann knew she needed to talk with him. She knew he needed to be reminded that she was still his confidant. That above all else she was still his mother.

Ann finished the tidings up. presentation is everything, when you never know who to expect, it was key. Ann made her through the empty house and went to his room. She found Troy pouring through pictures from when he was young. She smiled when she saw the one he was looking at. It was a picture taken by his father, when they where on vacation. It was right before he left, it was after that vacation that he was confronted by abnormalities of the vaccine.

Ann knew better then to interrupt him. This he got from his father. Their minds where brilliant, but like a flame you just let it be, till a gust of wind or fuel runs out to extinguish it. She found a seat and waited for him to share. This was his experience, only he could invite her into it. She didn't mind waiting, time had slipped away from her. Time raised her baby boy into a man, it seamed to have happened over night. Where he got his chiseled look was from the TRN cells. He got them from Jane but Ann liked to think it was from her despite her knowledge otherwise. He was surely a handsome man and Ann took pride in him.

Troy looked and locked eyes with his mother. He shared his simple and heart crunching statement. I remember him, how could i forget. I wanted to see him but not one of these pictures are of him. I was so angry he left i didn't even think of why i forgot everything about him. I didn't even realize there are no pictures of him anymore. I was sure there where some.

Troy was confused his memories where playing tricks on him. There was a man in these pictures he thought was his father. So who was he. More and more questions started to build within him. His anger started to bubble up as he flipped the pages. Lies lies and more lies at every page. He closed the book and walked to the windows. He crossed his arms applying pressure to his chest. Feeling out of control he controlled the one thing he could at a moment like this. He forced the air slowly out of his lunges and filled them way past the half way mark.
