An hour went by and the Cresomorphs seem to realise that something was wrong, the humans didn't seem as panicked as before and they didn't hear a much screams anymore. They still pushed their offensive thinking that it was a just a ploy.
Another 2 hours went by and something definitely didn't feel right, one of their flying scouts had noticed that the humans had managed to dodge their bombardment. It didn't matter though as there were many more options to choose from.
On the human side the 3 hours continuously fighting didn't seem to make them tire at all, they were secretly pleased that they had found a way to dodge incoming artillery. Although they still kept vigilance they couldn't help but lower their guard a little after the major threat had been neutralised.
What they didn't know was at the northeast where the large Rocky Mountain lay a large army comprising of aerial units was gathering and would soon attack.
The officer noticed the lowered vigilance of the soldiers and began yelling to increase their vigilance. She made sure that all the wall defences were operational and everyone kept watchful eye of their surroundings.
An hour later the flying Cresomorphs attacked, the humans were caught off guard and even the officer didn't expect them to attack from the East. She still yelled for aerial defences to attack and another battle broke out.
There were two types of flying Cresomorphs, one utilised swooping and grabbing attacks while the other stayed in the sky firing from short range.
Casualties began to appear on the human side 1000 deaths then 3000 deaths then 7000 deaths, afterwards it began to stabilise as the humans began to retaliate and gather their wits.
The total that had died from the aerial assault was 9000 soldiers. There were countless wounded and the medics had a difficult time taking care of all of them. Some of the braver refugees wished to help and assisted with transporting the wounded soldiers to the medical bay.
The first wave of flying attacks were over and the second one was incoming. This time the Cresomorphs brought bombers with them and targeted the various wall defences. The soldiers were prepared this time and the anti air guns where constantly firing.
The main wall defences were the 16 turrets mounted on reinforced towers, and the humans soon noticed the Cresomorphs targeting the turrets and tried to push them back but some of the towers were disabled.
Engineers were called in to quickly assess and repair these towers but it would take 2 days to fix them all not to mention that there would be more waves of flying units incoming.
Evening fell and many of the mounted turrets had either been disabled or thoroughly destroyed, it would take at least 4 days to get most of the disabled turrets operational again and a week to build new ones.
There were still 200,000 Cresomorphs against 30,000 humans and a scout had reported that more were on its way and would reach here by tonight.
By nightfall the humans could see a large amount of coloured lights begin to join the other group and in the distance a large bright dot was slowly making its way over.
On the wall the officer had noticed that the attacks had reduced by half and there were barely any deaths on the human side with only dozens getting wounded. When she looked at the large bright dot in the distance a sense of dread appeared in her mind and it made her gloomy.
Gareth was asked to go back and rest as the Cresomorphs had basically stopped using their artillery so the soldiers on the wall weren't at risk.
Gareth nodded and headed down to eat and rest. The refugees had calmed down a bit after a day of being stuck in the middle of a war zone, there were some who were still frightened but most were just worried and began discussing what was on their mind.
The most common topic was the large bright dot slowly coming from a distance, everyone believed it was some sort of Cesomorph but they couldn't recognise it in the dark. The aristocrats were in their own group discussing the human soldiers and anyone listening in would be poisoned by their discussions. They believed that the military were doing a half arsed job at defending and if they were in command they would have done better by so and so. As more refugees listened to the 'quiet' muttering more and more became poisoned and Gareth believed if this were to continue for a few more days then a rebellion might occur.
Gareth didn't want to continue listening to the various refugees and turned in for the night preparing for what the next day might bring.
It was morning of the third day and the daylight shone done piercing the darkness, every soldier was gripping their weapons tightly or concentrated on firing. An hour ago the scout had identified the bright dot as a Cresomorph singer.
This huge alien was 100m long had 6 sturdy legs and 30m diameter arms that was in the front of its body. The arms were 40m tall and had a huge shield 80m tall that protected the front of its body leaving a gap where it's head would poke through.
It had a square collar and head, and its' six legs were underneath the collar while it's 2 arms were connected to the front of the collar by 2 upper arms the size of humans that were 30m long.
On its back (collar) was its core that was protected by a hard outer shell, there were a dozen elite Cresomorphs and 5 Cresomorph slaughterers.
The Cresomorph Sieger had 2 shields one that protected the core and one that protected its body, it was capable of standing upright and was able to lift its huge arms but only for a short while. Lastly it had 2 melee tentacles that were mainly used to scoop up allied units or objects to throw from afar.
This huge alien was used to breach defences using its arms and was a huge nuisance to any base.
Currently with its wall turrets in operational the humans couldn't put up a decent defence against the sieger. The anti air cannons still were operational but were only useful for small flying units even medium fast projectiles could be taken care of.
Every time the sieger threw at the wall, the anti air took out the projectiles, the huge boulders were a bit more difficult as they would spilt into smaller pieces but they could be dealt with the soldiers.
It was estimated that the Cresomorph would be at the gate by midday 9 hours from now. The higher ups devided the army into 4, 2 groups were to focus weakening the sieger while one would take care of the ground and the other would take care of aerial attacks.
The good news was that the engineers had managed to make the radar station operational again and with the aliens new army comprising of artillery and siege units it was of great help.
Hours went by and the sieger had reached the tall gate, the 2 groups of soldiers had managed to disable the energy shield after 6 hours and using a combination of acid, explosives and cryogenics managed to remove half a meter layer of hard armour on its arm after concentrated fire within 2 hours.
The sieger had now come knocking.
