Chapter 29

Standing on the remarkably familiar beach, Neivayka groaned and flopped down on the warm, surprisingly soft, sand wondering if she was destined never to properly sleep again.

Iola slowly walked up to her coming out of the ocean like Venus again. Although, Neivayka was honestly too tired to enjoy such a beautiful moment. Iola had a grim look on her face as soon as she spotted her.

“Neivayka, you must be careful. You cannot face Lorimer before you’re ready.”

Well, that cemented the belief that Iola had been in the room when Lorimer attacked her, Neivayka thought.

“I wasn’t trying to face him,” Neivayka defended herself tiredly. “He showed up and demanded I go with him. I said no, the fight ensued.”

“You should have run,” Iola chided her.

“I couldn’t. Lorimer had some kind of spell on me,” Neivayka snapped at Iola.

Iola’s eyes grew wide with concern. “Are you alright?”
