Chapter 57

“Hell, no!” shouted Theo as soon as the last word was out of Neivayka’s mouth.

“What?!” Neivayka shouted back. “How can you say that? Theo, this is my MOTHER we’re talking about here. My birth mother. But it isn’t! This is Iola! The true Queen. Your true Queen! How can you let her be tortured, killed, or worse, become a Shadow?”

“Iola knew this was a risk when she started all of this. She knew that there was a possibility that Lorimer would use her against you, against us all. That’s why she didn’t want to tell you who she was. But you cannot give in. You can’t let him win,” Steval explained.

“I am not letting that piece of crap win, Elder,” Neivayka insisted. “I am asking for your help in rescuing my mother and bringing her back to a place of security so that no one else can use her against me again. Please, I just found her don’t make me lose her again.”
