Chapter 58

His words hit her hard, and she felt some of her anger melt away. She reached up and cupped his cheek, enjoying the warmth of his skin against hers. She rose on her tippy toes and pressed a soft kiss to his lips, telling him without words how she felt. She knew if the words were used now, that she would never be able to leave.

“I know,” was all she said before pushing him back out the door and closing it on him.

She couldn’t see his beautiful violet eyes burning into hers and walk away from him, betray him the way she was going to. She only hoped he would understand.

As soon as Neivayka heard Theo’s footstep head back down the hall, she began packing a bag hurriedly, needing to be far away before any of them caught on.

“What are ye doin’?” squeaked a voice from the bed.

With a muffled scream, she jumped and confronted a tiny creature looking at her suspiciously.

“Nothing,” she answered immediately.

How could she have forgotten he was there? She growled at herself silently.
