Chapter 87

The oozing Shadow had meant something, something important. Neivayka was almost afraid to dare to believe that she was finally ridding herself of it. But even the blob of Shadow seemed to be shrinking as it sat next to her.

The only response from the creature was a hiss before it disappeared back to the depths once more. A pleased smile crossed Neivayka's face before she allowed herself to drift awake again. With newfound hope, she hurried through her morning ritual of cleaning up herself and the cave before finishing up the last of dinner from the night before. She hopped down from the entrance and practically skipped to the middle of the jungle to begin her training.

Neivayka felt empowered, stronger, hopeful.
