Chapter 88

After the adrenaline wore off in the dance, Neivayka thought she was truly going to die. The pain from her shoulder was so bad that tears pricked her eyes and her knees almost refused to move as she made her way back to the cat.

The cat’s eyes were cleared of the dark glaze that had been over them, and their crystal clear brilliant blue hue was staring at her earnestly. Its three tails still flicked back and forth, but this time they looked more energetic. The areas of the skin that was visible between the hairless patches were now flushed instead of sickly grey. The horns… were the biggest change. They were now as blue as the eyes of the creature. Though still chipped and cracked, they seemed to be healthier. If horns could look healthy… Neivayka wasn’t sure. All she knew was that this animal was now free.

Dropping down in front of it again, she checked the animal over once more before finally reassuring herself that it was as healthy as it could be.
