chapter 9

As we arrived at the top of the stairs Katrina suddenly pulled away from me. I looked down at her in confusion.

[Did I do something wrong]

"sorry I'm just not used to this yet and I don't want anyone to notice." Katrina responded in a panicky tone.

[I guess she thought I was angry]

[I'm not angry but I'm fairly certain there are rumors about us already, but I won't say that]

"mmh, ok I understand" I told her"

"thank you for understanding"

We came out of the dungeon and it closed behind us and disappeared as if it was never there. We were both surprised when we saw that there was almost no one in the lobby. We looked around and saw a few receptionist running around with panicked looks on their faces.

"Captain Katrina thank God your back" A panicked receptionist ran up to us.

"Calm down and explain what's going on." Katrina said in a calm and authoritative tone.

"Ah, yes, have you seen the new system message."

"Yes, Why"

"Well it seem that everyone's level has gone back to level 1, although everyone's stats are higher then when we first became level 1 hunters, everyone is much weaker than we used to be."

"That much I understand my system was reset to, but that doesn't seem to be enough reason for all the panic."

"Um well its not but the worst part is..."

"It seem dungeons started popping up all over the world and each one has the name of a God on it, between that, everyone losing all their stats, and the message saying dungeon breaks can now occur. It's natural for everyone to be panicking." I cut off the receptionist mid sentence.

The receptionist and Katrina both stared at me in shock.

"H-how did you know?" the receptionist asked while stuttering

I ignored her and looked at Katrina and said.

"For now lets go talk and I'll explain everything to you then we can focus on leveling you up."

Before Katrina could say anything I grabbed her by the hand and walked to the elevator that would lead to her private office.

We arrived in my private office and we sat down across from each other looking straight in each others eyes.

[oh my god this is so awkward I had a million questions but I don't know how to get them out]

"uh-um-uh"

My mouth opened and closed without any words coming out. I knew I looked like a fool but I just didn't know what to ask.

"Which part are you most curious about first" Shay's voice suddenly brought me back to my senses.

"I'm not sure I'm curious about all of it."

"hmm, makes sense than lets start with what the immortals really are. How does that sound"

I just nod my head in response.

"Well I had my suspicions about it but what happened with Michael just proves it. Originally it was thought to be a coincidence or that maybe the Gods had something to do with the immortals however none of that could be proven since not even the immortals know. You do know this much correct."

Shay looked at me with a straight face full of seriousness.

All I could do was gulp and nod my head wondering where this was going.

"Good well do you remember how Michael said that, that body was his host"

A memory flashed through my head as I recalled what happened.

I nodded my head once more.

"Well it seems that when the Gods disappeared they didn't actually disappear they went into the body of a human and have been hibernating inside the so called host and have finally reappeared."

[I'm sure the shock on my face is quite evident]
