A glance at the time had Jessie blowing out a breath. She hadn't accomplished as much as she'd planned, but now that the hour was winding down for the day, she decided to review more case files. Although these reviews didn't usually amount to much, her motto of leaving no stone unturned was in full effect. She was going to exhaust her resources until she found the pieces to the puzzle. At least then, she'd know she'd left nothing to chance.
Jessie entered Detective Walker's office for a few of Maureen's old case files and left a note that she'd taken them, then carried the pile to the coffee center for a cup she hoped would have enough caffeine to get rid of her afternoon slump. No stranger to the after four o'clock burnt coffee, she reluctantly filled her mug, grabbed a donut coated with sprinkles from the box and placed it on top of her mug, then headed for her office.
