The Colour Of Caramel

I pulled off the scarf and jacket I was wearing as I made my way to the administration office.

There is so much going on right now that I'm not sure what to unpack and I need to tell someone or I might lose it. I pulled out my phone and went straight for the only contact on my phone I could talk to.

'We need to talk.' Within seconds I got a reply from Rodney.

'What's wrong? Everything okay?'

I chewed on my bottom lip, wondering if it was worth telling him what happened today. We planned to unpack what had happened this morning when my shift finishes but now I'm not so sure if I want to talk about it.

'Yeah, just wanted to see if I can't change your mind about staying in the apartment,' I lied and guilt settled in.

'Ann, we've been through this, you're staying on campus and that's final. I'm even taking Trixie into my care so you'll get to see her whenever you come by.'

'Now get your butt into a dorm and send me their banking details.'

I frowned and typed back 'Are you allowed to be using the restaurant's money?'

'Ann, let me worry about money. You should focus on getting those forms.'

I sighed and texted back before putting my phone into my pocket. I traced my fingers across the spot on my forehead, remembering the vision. I was so in my own head I wasn't paying attention and bumped into something hard then heard the sound of a box falling and the contents spilling out onto the floor.

Oh, crap!

I immediately dropped down and started picking up the CD's that had sprayed all across the floor and just placed them back into the box while apologizing.

"It's okay, it's my fault for thinking I could make one trip," he joked. His voice was deep but sweet and the words rolled off his tongue so gracefully, I didn't even know it was possible.

"I should be the one apologizing for not looking where I was..." I eventually looked up and my breath caught in my throat ",going."

The man standing above me was picture perfect, a paragon of what a male model looked like, a strong jaw line and a straight nose. He had obsidian eyes and they seemed to pull me in, completely captivating me. His jet black hair effortlessly fell around his face and I'm pretty sure it barely touches his long lashes. His skin was the colour of caramel and a part of me wanted to take a bite to see if he tasted like one.

God, he was gorgeous. He just screamed Vampire.

"Uhm, do you mind?"

"Hmm?"

He nodded his head down to the box filled with CD's and my head snapped back to what I was doing in the first place, my cheeks heated up from embarrassment. He definitely knows I was gwaking at him.

"Oh right, yeah sure. Sorry...again" I nervously chuckled and quickly got up with the box and placed it back onto the other box and than stepped aside. He gave me a charming side grin and my heart nearly jumped out my chest. I think I'm going to pass out if I don't remind myself to breathe.

"It was nice meeting you," he said and continued walking in the direction of the dorms. As he walked pass a small breeze picked up and with it carried the spicy cinnamon scent. I stood there, watching him until he disappeared, I shook the idea out of my head, there are many guys who wear spicy cinnamon cologne, doesn't make them the same person in my vision.

And just like that I pushed out any thoughts about the visions, and carried on with my day which wasn't as exciting as you'd think it will be since I go to an all Supernatural college, mind you there are a couple of humans that attend here but they don't know that this is a Supernatural school since during the day, we take more traditional college courses and at night spend time working on the Supernatural courses, it's also why most Supernaturals have opted to moving onto campus and you must be thinking; aren't there any humans also staying on campus?

No, the humans that attend here are part-time so you rarely get to see them, only during night time. On some occasions there won't even be any humans on campus and our night time courses intergrate to our day time which I honestly prefer cause I get to have the rest of the night off from school work and get to do more night time shifts at the restaurant.

And today there weren't any humans so that means I get to practice some magic. In case you needed a reminder, I'm half Fae and half Elemental. And since I'm a hybrid, I get to do two courses; Elemental, working on my control over earth and Fae, working on Illusions and Glamour. Being a hybrid isn't as bad as you'd think, it's pretty awesome actually but obviously doesn't get a lot of good reception.

The Mythical's are pretty chilled, not much bothers them but there is a small handful who will bunch up their noses at the sight of me or any other hybrid around and the most they'll do is ignore you. On the other hand, the Cursed aren't afraid to remind you of what you are, you highly find that they will mix outside their own species. Dating? Yes, but anything beyond that is a hard pass.

Most of the bullying comes from Shifters cause they are asswads and half of their population are filled with brawn and no brains, half of them. I've come across some stereotypical Shifters who've picked on the Mythical's more times than I can count just to prove that they are a stronger species and I've taken down some of them, I mentioned before that being a hybrid isn't bad cause not only do I have defence, I got offence and strength on my side as well.

Fae's aren't typically strong especially against the Cursed so they rely on defence like Glamour; it's basically altering the world around you. Illusions; are a bit tricky since you are altering the world around the victim instead of yourself, offence. That's where my Elemental half comes in, it pretty much makes up for the strength my Fae lacks, not only can I bend plants or any earthly matter to my will I can use it to protect myself and capture my victims.

But that can be rendered mute if I'm up against a Vampire. Vampires are snobbish and think Shifters and Mythical's are beneath them. Elitist assholes. They won't even glance in your direction and in my opinion that's a good thing. Unlike Shifters, Vampires are pretty smart and can outsmart you in a fight.

Vampires scare the living hell out of me. They won the gold in the genetics pool, they have the strength of a Shifter, if not more, and they have a bit of Mythical magic. So yeah, I do my best to stay as far away as I possibly can.

"I'd like everyone to open their Mystic books to page fifty, today we'll be discussing Fae seers." Oh, fuck.

What a coincidence that out of all the topics to be discussed today, that this was going to be one. We've never gone indepth about the other side of the many abilities Fae possess especially Fae Seers.

I shifted in my seat as butterflies erupted in my stomach. Just when I thought I had completely forgotten about my visions today, Mr. Maverick had to start the lesson about the one thing I'm nervous about. Luckily, no one noticed the look of dread on my face as half the class who were Fae seemed very interested in this topic and made their excitement known.

"What's so special about Fae seers anyway they just the same as a normal Fae" One of the all-brawn-and-no-brain Shifters said with an arrogant smile "What's so special about them is they have the ability to see into the future, but no seer needs to look into your future to know you'll never get laid." The class broke into supressed snickers, even a few Vampires cracked a smile.

I turned to see who made the comment, and low and behold Mr. Vampire hottie himself. Sitting low in his seat in that sort of way a guy who knew how irresistible he was. I'm surprised he defended the Fae's, I guess not all Vampires are snobbish.

This was my first time I took his whole perfectly lean frame body in, and if I'm being honest Rodney couldn't come close, he had the bad boy image on lockdown. He was wearing a tight gray jean, a black dress shirt, with a couple of buttons undone at the top. You could see a thin golden chain peeking out from under the shirt, and had his sleeves rolled up. He wore more golden bracelets than I've seen on anyone, two of them were a bit bigger than the rest and were on each wrist, they had sapphire stones embedded in them.

I knew I was staring for too long when his obsidian eyes met my hazel brown eyes, he gave me that heart stopping smile of his and a small wave. Embarrassed, I returned the wave and faced forward, cursing myself for getting caught and grateful that my light brown skin hide my blush, I pushed my attention back to the lesson.

"Settle down, but yes, Fae seers are gifted in premonitions and are regarded as God-like." Mr. Maverick turned and started writing down notes on the blackboard "You already know that once you hit a certain age your powers begin to manifest, same as Fae Seers," he spoke than turned to face the class.

"With Seers, it's a bit more different. Their powers don't just show up, there are symptoms that reveal themselves such as-" he picked up the book and began reading "-constant chills, feeling hot and cold, in some cases headaches and completely white eyes. During a vision, a Seer's senses are no longer aware of their current surroundings and are focused on the vision. It is also said that what they felt, smelled, tasted or heard linger long after the vision has passed."

I traced my fingers over my forehead, the sensation was still there, even this morning it felt like I had been impaled even when I was fine. At this point, there was no denying it, even if I wanted to. I took a deep breath to calm my racing heart, so as to not raise suspicion. I need to focus and find out more.

"If Seers are as special as you say they are than why aren't they here?" One of the Shifters asked "And can they control their visions?"

Mr. Maverick leaned against his desk "All good questions, and reason for that is they have a different training then any other Supernaturals and are kept hidden for their protection, and when it comes to control it's a 50/50. Seers are very accurate in their visions and having one pretty much puts you as untouchable."

Everyone was impressed by this, meanwhile I had a thousand questions racing in my mind and thinking how dangerous my life would be if people knew what I may or may not be. My hand shot up, I needed some answers and I guess the place I can find them is right here in this classroom.

"Yes, Miss Denver?"

"Could it be possible for a Seers powers to be dorment?" I asked calmly while I was freaking out on the inside and hoped to God no one picked up on my nervousness. Maybe I should Glamour my emotions.

"There is a very rare case for a Seers visions to be dorment and only manifest later on in life but unfortunetly that has never been reported to happen for thousands of years." Well I'm going to be the first in history. I know I should be over the moon that I'm able to see in the future, I know a lot of people; including Fae, who'd do anything to be a Fae Seer and I'll happily give it up if I could.

Mr. Maverick continued the lesson but I wasn't paying attention anymore. I had a lot on my mind to be paying attention, if anyone knew or even guesses that I could look into the future they'll ship me off and probably put me in some giant room, like where they place Fates and they never get to go out, like ever.

Lessons came and went, half of them I was on autopilot. And, with each lesson I kept looking at the clock, have you notice how excruciating slow time goes when you want to leave, truly a worse form of torture.

By the end of the day I felt more exhausted then I've ever been. Who knew discovering something took so much energy.

"Hey Anita, we going out to grab a bite to eat. Why don't you join us?" One of my classmates; Jasmine, asked "I can't sorry, but thanks for the invite, rain check." I gave them an apologetic smile like every other time they've invited me.

I walked out of the school and took the first bus home to get ready for my shift.
