The woman smiled, and they were surprised by it, wasn't she gonna be rude to them? After the smile had vanished from her face, she said to them,
"I wouldn't be able to employ you guys in this restaurant for more than one reason. First of all, you guys are too young for the job, that's my employment standard. I don't employ teens, I employ adults. Secondly, as of now, I want no male workers in my restaurant, and you guys are males. So I'm sorry, you guys aren't gonna get the job you are requesting for".
With a pleading facial expression, Simon uttered, "Please, we really need this job".
The woman's face became a bit serious, she has no plans of employing them in her restaurant...at all,
"No, I wouldn't employ you guys, that's final, there's nothing that can be done about it. But why are you guys together searching for a job? Don't you have parents? Why aren't you guys in school?".
James scratched his head and retorted, "It's a long story, a really long one".
"Isn't it possible to cut the long story short?". She inquired.
"No, it's impossible, it's a really long one that it can't be cut short".
"Hmm, OK then, but am ain't giving you guys the job. That's final".
"Please, we really need the..."
She cut James' pleading with a stern look, James had to stop pleading the moment she glared at him that way. She forwarded her hands towards the door and stated, "You guys can leave now".
Simon and James began sauntering out of her office, there's nothing that can be done about it. She doesn't want to employ them, and that was her final decision. At least, she wasn't extremely rude to them, they were expecting her to be extremely rude. They got out of her office strolling out of the restaurant. They saw that waiter standing at the same spot she was standing on when they left her.
Getting closer to her, she gave them that mocking look and uttered in a low tone of voice,
"I told you". But it was loud enough for them to hear it.
They didn't even bother to glance at her when she made that statement as they kept on strolling out of the restaurant. Getting out of the restaurant, Simon said to James,
"She wasn't even bothered about the fact that we told her we really needed the job. All she could do was ask us silly questions about our parents and all that".
"Yeah, that's life, lots of people lack empathy". James uttered.
"So, what are we gonna do now?".
"We won't stop, we'll just have to keep searching. But it seems like finding an edifice with the job vacancy sign would be really hard. So at this moment, we don't care if the edifice has a job vacancy sign or not, we'll just stroll into it and ask if they need workers hoping that they do pay daily salary. We won't ask anyone for help anymore, we'll do the searching ourselves,
Men, a lot would really happen if we don't find a daily paying job today...I can feel the slight rumbling of my stomach already". James explained.
"That's bad, we've got not even a single penny on us. A person would feel relaxed when he feels his stomach rumbling knowing that he has money on him. But a person would feel severe anxiety when he feels his stomach rumbling knowing that he has not even a single penny on him. Well, as for me, am ain't feeling hungry yet 'cause of the food I ate at the building we were taken to. But I know that before today ends, I'll definitely feel hungry". Simon expressed.
James tapped Simon on the shoulder and said, "Let's try out those restaurants we saw along this street, let's ask if they need workers though there are no job vacancy signs on them".
After making that statement, he walked past Simon as Simon followed him from behind. They strolled until they arrived at one of the restaurants and stepped into it. They didn't want to waste time, so they strolled over to one of the male waiters in the restaurant. This restaurant wasn't like the first one that's got no male workers in it. There were about three male waiters and two female waiters in the restaurant, so the males even took the higher count.
The guy was holding an empty trail pan when James and Simon stood at his front. He was pretty young, he'll be nothing less than 20 to 22 years old. The moment they stood at his front, he immediately asked a similar question,
"You guys are here to eat, right?".
And Simon answered him the same way he answered that lady at the first restaurant they stepped into.
"Umm..no".
"Then, why are you guys here?".
"We are in search of a job, we need one badly. So we just decided to check out this restaurant to see if workers are needed here".
A type of irritated expression appeared on the guy's face, they thought he was calm and gentle...but seems like he wasn't. He questioned them,
"Did you guys see any job vacancy sign plastered outside the wall of this restaurant?".
James answered his question this time, "No, we didn't. That's why he said that we are just walking into restaurants like this and asking if they need workers".
"Just so you guys know, what you both are doing is very foolish. Like, you can't just be walking into restaurants and asking if they need workers".
Now, this guy was damn rude, they weren't expecting him to be this rude, no, they weren't expecting him to be rude at all. He was just a worker in this restaurant, and he was speaking like this? What if he was the son of the restaurateur? He'll be worst than this.
"Can we meet with the owner of this restaurant?". James inquired of him.
"No, he isn't around".
He? So the owner of the restaurant was a man? Not bad.
"Are you sure he isn't around? or you just don't want us to speak with him".
"What the f**k, I said he isn't around, and I don't have to explain anything to you guys, in fact, we're done with this conversation. Seems like you guys wanna continue blabbing, so am gonna call one of my co-workers to continue speaking with you guys".
And so the guy did, he beckoned on one of the female waiters to come over, and so she did. Reaching the spot where the three of them were standing, the guy said to her, "These guys over here have some things they wanna discuss with you, they might also ask questions. Good luck". With that, the guy walked away.
The lady glanced at the both of them and asked, "So, what is it that you guys wanna discuss with me?".
"Can we meet with the restaurateur?". James inquired using a question to answer a question.
"Why?".
"We wanna discuss with him about getting a job in this restaurant, we really need it".
"First of all, you guys wouldn't be able to discuss with him 'cause he isn't around right now. Secondly, even if he's around and you guys get to speak with him, he wouldn't offer you guys the job 'cause this restaurant has the right amount of workers it needs. And you guys are too young for the job, but that wouldn't be a problem for him though if he really needs workers in this restaurant".
"So we should go?". Simon inquired, a bit of a stupid question.
"Yeah, you guys would have to go, no job vacancy". The lady retorted with a type of facial expression that was saying the opposite of what she just said. Her facial expression screams, 'No, stay'.
The both of them shook their heads in disappointment and began strolling out of the restaurant. Finding a job today would be really hard, seems like all workers of a restaurant are always rude. They continued walking after getting out of the restaurant, while sauntering, they discussed.
"This is gonna be hard. We aren't even getting good reception from the workers not to talk of getting the job itself, a daily paying one at that. Everyone is just being rude to us". Simon said to James.
"Yeah, people really do lack empathy, they aren't even considering the fact that we might need help seriously. Two young boys carrying backpacks walking about in search of a job, can't they discern that we need help? Even if it's just securing us a job though they don't need workers. And that guy we spoke to at the restaurant, I really felt like smacking his head, he's so rude, he speaks like a fool". James expressed.
Simon just had to nod his head to James' statement, he also felt like smacking the boy's head.
