Goddess Hekate

"Miya! What are you doing? Run!" Adonis screamed his lungs out…

But Miya didn't reply. Had Adonis's voice become too weak to reach her? Or was she under some spell? Adonis had no idea.

Adonis pulled himself apart from Miya as he believed that Miya was unable to move for some reason. It was his responsibility to pull her away instead. There was nothing good that he could think of that would come out in all of this.

"Adonis, I don't think 'it' means to harm us. I can feel it," she whispered.

Adonis raised his brows.

'Why am I not feeling anything at all?'. Adonis thought.

All Adonis's eyes could see was a black mesh that seemed like a monstrosity. By no means it looked like a passive creature.

'Don't judge a book by its cover.' That's what they say. But they forget the reason why humans even make such judgments! In the survival world, one needs to gauge dangers just by looking at the threat. Therefore one can only rely on appearances to save their ass. Only death awaited for the loose minds. Quick judgments were the key to survival.

"I don't think this is a good idea, Miya," Adonis said again.

No matter how many times he glanced in that direction, all he felt were creepy. And why would he not? Creepy bodies were moving around.

Miya bit her lips. A hunch. That was all she had but it was a strong one. She wanted to prove to Adonis that it wasn't a threat but there was nothing that she could do to prove it.

"Okay, let's leave then," Miya continued, "Though I still think we should have waited a little bit longer… till the creature takes its form maybe?"

'So that it can come to kill us? No way,' Adonis thought as he shook his head.

He pulled Miya along with him as they started walking away.

It was then…

"I have gone through so much trouble to approach you, to help you from the Gods. Won't you even listen to what I have to say? Don't be naive for what you think is a threat is a blessing in disguise."

Adonis's ears twitched but that wasn't enough to change his mind. It appeared like it was some kind of illusion sucking Miya inside. Adonis couldn't afford to put Miya in danger.

But Adonis did turn around to check how much time they had to escape before the transformation was completed. His legs had never stopped moving.

Adonis would have run away if he could. But alas, his legs were giving out. He could only pull himself away with everything he had got.

That was when his jaws fell slack. In front of them stood a woman… No... Calling her a woman would be wrong since her lower body had yet to be formed but her face was very distinguishable making her a fine beauty. But there was a gloomy atmosphere around her that spoke of death.

Her clothing wasn't much discernible but she had a witch's hat on her head.

But the most important thing of all was that as soon as Adonis's eyes met her, he lost all the strength in his legs. The Primordial Blood Concentration inside his body began to boil as if to notify that her presence was not so simple.

"Must be a Goddess…" Adonis whispered.

He didn't know the identity of most of the Olympian Gods. He only knew a few of them. And this woman too was someone he had never seen before. Had she come to kill him? It didn't seem so. She had no killing intent in her eyes. But then again, God can be pretty deceptive.

The question was that was she an ally or an enemy? Adonis's guess was she was an enemy. He had zero trust in any God.

"Who are you? What do you want?" Adonis screamed as he tried to get back on his feet. He was exhausted before. But now? It felt all wobbly and out of control.

"Did I not tell you that I want to help?" she replied.

"Help, what kind of help? Why would you help me?"

Gods like Athena did help heroes sometimes. Since it falls under her jurisdiction. They help to guide the heroes on the path of glory. But Adonis was no hero, he was at most an insect to the gods that needed to be crushed.

To escape the fate of being crushed like an insect. Adonis had taken 'her' help. But 'she' was more likely to guide a villain rather than a hero.

Every God has its own 'jurisdiction'. They are roles that God must play otherwise it causes their Primordial Bloodline to go into jeopardy causing immense backlash.

For example, Zeus rules over thunderstorms. If he doesn't manage his role and control thunder in an adequate amount to create balance in nature. He too would suffer from a backlash. No God was exempted from this rule.

"Naive. Do you not know who I am? I am Hekate, the Goddess of the Witches and also of the stranded. You are but under my jurisdiction and should pray for my grace. How do you dare to run away?"

Adonis's pupils shook.

"Hekate…" he whispered as he took a look at the earth below. He didn't want to give away his shock.

He had indeed heard of the name. She is the Goddess that guides the abandoned. Wasn't that what Adonis and Miya were? They were abandoned by the whole world.
