Redemption Part I

I searched for Selene in my mind so that we could go out and defend ourselves, but I was interrupted by Marduk's call.

“Wait, please!”

“What is it?” I asked, frowning when it paused and became somewhat skittish.

Then, as if he had finally psyched himself for something, he said, “When you get out of here, take what hangs from the master’s neck…It is yours anyway. Wear it; it will protect you.”

I frowned again but nodded, not knowing what he was talking about. Then I concentrated again, and I immediately felt Selene pulling on my conscience. It was a strange experience, to say the least, like being pulled through a straw.

When I came to my senses again, I looked up to find Shen Mu still in the same position I had left him, but there was no Yin to keep him in place. Instead, his body was sat by its own volition.

“You’re back!” I heard Odtsetseg, and a moment later, she popped her head out from the cabin. “Did the big baddie wake you?”
