Chapter 55

Blonde hair and blue eyes. There was only one Elf with features like that, and if it was who Raphael was thinking of, then they were in trouble.

He hurriedly walked down the stairs and into his room. He shut and locked the door then rushed to get his backup phone, as he had destroyed his other one last night. He dialled the Alpha's number and waited.

It clicked, "Hello." He sighed.

"Alpha, the Elf that attacked Brooke last night was, it was him."

Silence.

More silence.

He heard glass shatter on the other end, then the Alpha hung up.

Raph sat there with his phone, tempted to throw it again, but he didn't have any other ones.

He was about to put it on the dresser when it began ringing, he immediately answered, "Yes."

"Come back tomorrow." Then he hung up again.

Raph put his phone down and walked upstairs, "Uh, honey?" He said when he reached the living room. No one else was present, 'Her parents must be in their room.'

She looked up at him, her eyebrows raised in expectation.

"Now he wants us to leave tomorrow."

Her mouth went wide in all sorts of emotions, anger, shock, confusion.

"Tomorrow? Tomorrow?!" She stood up and put her hands on her hips, which made her slim waist stand out. "Well, it's a good thing I haven't told them yet or you'd sound crazy!"

"Why?" He had to ask.

"Because you keep changing the date! You're the one that seems like you're trying to run away with their daughter! And if you keep changing the day we leave, and moving it closer, well." She crossed her arms over her chest and started tapping her fingers, her face rigid in frustration.

"Okay, honey," He walked up and put his hands on her arms, "I think, that you should go tell them now, then you can start packing, and they can start arranging the party, okay." He held up her small, pointed chin so she would have to look at him. "Okay."

He could see her bite the inside of her lip, she exhaled very forcefully, "Fine."

She acted very… … … immature at times, but he still loved her.

The party went off without a hitch and they were now on their way back to Prince George.

Brooke seemed happy and Raphael knew that he was happy.

Brooke hadn't stopped talking all the way from the airport, she had been a little nervous on the plane but not nearly as much as she had been the first time. He didn't mind her nonstop voice, it was soothing.

Her new clothes were in the back of his car and the rest of her stuff would be coming in a truck, driven by Bradley, in a few days. As he had to drive all the way from the ferry terminal on the mainland to Prince George.

Eventually Brooke quieted and reached his hand and linked it with hers. They drove the rest of the way in a comfortable silence.

I was now folding my clothes and putting them away in the closet, Raph had gone to discuss the "Elf thing"with Thresh.

I felt kind left out, I mean after all, it was me who had been visited by those 'kind' creatures, although strangely enough neither of them had come last night, which was a relief. Raph slept with me the whole night, that was most likely why they hadn't come.

I mind linked Raph, -Where's you're laundry room?-

-In the basement.- He replied quickly. -But once you're done with that come over to the Alpha's house.-

I twisted my lips in thought. "Hmm." I hummed as I gathered mine, and Raph's, dirty clothes.

I walked to the basement entrance by the kitchen, I'd never been down there before, well Raph was the one who told me where the laundry room was, so here goes.

I opened the door and began to descend the stairs.

I sensed Duma coming closer then heard his voice, "Ooh, can I come with? I haven't been down there yet."

"Neither have I." I said, "Yeah, come on down." He followed after me and we descended the stairs together, me carrying the laundry basket.

I reached the bottom and found the light switch. I flicked it on a saw laminated wood floors with white walls, in front of me was the laundry room, to the right of me was a linens closet and further on there were more rooms. The hallway to the left had a long hallway with an opaque door, I put the load of laundry in and went to check out what was behind the door.

Duma had been silently observing my actions, "How was it while we were gone?" I asked. I had already asked Mark and Nathan, who were at their home now, how things went, they said that it had gone smoothly, but I wanted to ask Duma.

I looked at him as I reached for the mysterious door's handle. He had his hands in his pockets, his shoulders hunched forward suggesting vulnerability. His yellow blond hair stood out in little wisps atop his freckled face. His yellow cheetah eyes looked at the floor dolefully.

"It was good, yeah, we played video games and watched TV, it was good." He said, his eyes still to the floor.

I pressed my lips together in disbelief, but I didn't press. I opened the door and was shocked by what was on the other side.
