Chapter 72

I woke to my head pounding, it sounded like someone was trying to hammer out of it. I looked up and in the dim light of where I was I could see a figure slamming against the door.

"Thresh." I said, but my throat was so dry, he didn't catch it.

I sat up, which sent my head spinning and more throbbing. I clutched at it and held it till the pain subsided.

"Thresh!" I said firmly.

He didn't respond. I rolled my eyes and decided to stand. After more throbbing and almost throwing up, I was standing propped against the wall.

I looked around the very small room we were caged in. It was roughly two and a half metres by four metres. And the walls and floor were made of metal, like someone had nailed metal sheets to them. The door looked like it was solid steel, with no handle on it or window, or even a slot to slide food into.

I tried not to panic and tried to think. I looked up and saw a thin four inch window along the top of our cell, that's where the light was coming from.

All throughout my observing Thresh was still trying to kick or shove the door down.

"Thresh! Stop it!" I told him, "We need to think of a way out of here, not just try and break the door down."

He stopped, I sighed in relief, but then he raised his arms and sparks sprung from his fingertips.

My hair stood on end.

"Th-Thresh?" I asked. I could smell burning ozone, "Thresh! Stop it!"

Somehow he was summoning lightning, and if he did, the floor and walls were conductive metal. He would kill me.

"Thresh! Stop it! Can't you see, the floor is metal, if you do this I'll be fried alive! Stop it!" I was probably gonna regret my next words, "I don't think Charm would be very proud of you if you did that."

He stopped and glared at me, his storm grey eyes flickering with sparks. He moved too fast for me to think, and the next thing I knew, my throat was pinned to the cold metal wall.

'Yep, shouldn't have mentioned his mate.' I thought a little too late.

"And what do you know about my mate?" He asked, he didn't sound like himself, he sounded animalistic. His voice had a growl in it and his face looked more deadly than usual.

I tried to inhale so I could speak, but just decided to mind link him, -Thresh, I would never hurt Charm, you know that. I would never hurt her. I know you just want to get back to her, but I want to get back to my mate too. And to do that, I can't be dead.-

His grip tightened, 'Oh, shit.' I thought, then I fell to the ground with a slam. I was gasping for air and I rubbed my tailbone, "Ow."

"Then what do you propose we do?" He asked staring at the door.

"I don't know."

He turned and glared at me.

I sighed frustrated with how short his patience was, "Do you know who were being held by?" I asked.

He cocked his head at me, which made me want to hide, "Lycans." He hissed.

"Really? I can't sense anything." I walked around the cell, my head still throbbing, and tried to see if that fact changed, but I still couldn't sense anyone other than Thresh.

"How do you know?" I asked.

"That's why Slate brought us out here. To lure me away from the Pack, away from my mate. They need to use her, and I will not let them." His voice started to change into a different accent, Greek maybe, but I couldn't say, I was a terrible judge on accents.

"But that weird fuzzy thing, that wasn't Lycans, they can't do that. Right?"

"No, that was a Pixie." His voice was still affected.

What felt like hours passed, with no change in our predicament.

I sat down on the cold floor and closed my eyes, my head was only throbbing a little now.

"What are you doing?" I asked when Thresh suddenly grabbed my head and held it with both hands.

"You're bleeding." He stated. I hissed when I felt his fingers probing my wound.

"Ow." I said, "Well there ain't much we can do about it."

"Hmm." Thresh hummed, I turned to look at him, I could see his grey eyes thinking.

"Right?" I asked.

"There's actually a few things we can do."

I looked at him, wary of what he was going to do.

He moved his hand to do something, "Hey! Hey, before you do anything, tell me what the options are." I told him.

He dropped his hand, "I could wrap a bandage around it, lick it clean," I scrunched my nose in distaste at that, "Or cauterize it."

My eyes widened and my body tensed.

"C-cauterize it? As in burn it? No, nuh-uh, that's not happening."

"Fine." Thresh said, then I heard a tearing sound, a shirt or something and felt a lapping at my wound.

"Ew! Gah!" I exclaimed, "Are you licking me?!"

-Yes, it needs to be cleaned.-

I was about to ask, 'And saliva helps?' When I remembered that it does indeed help. I swallowed and suffered through.

Once Thresh had securely wrapped the piece of fabric around my head he moved and sat a few feet from me.

"If I fall asleep, wake me. People with head injuries can die if they fall asleep." I said to him, because I could feel my body getting drowsy.

I couldn't tell how long we'd been there but the light in the small window was fading, which meant that night was approaching.

Thresh nodded.

I tried to keep my eyes open but it was getting harder. I decided to talk, Thresh probably wouldn't like it, but if I didn't, I would fall asleep.

"What were you doing?" I asked.

He looked up at me, his eyebrows raised as though asking, 'Doing what?'

"With the lightning and sparks?" I finished.

He stared at me a long time, unwavering. My eyes flickered to his ears.

-It's my gift.- He said.

-Your gift? Like mine?- I asked curiously. I remembered Raph saying that Thresh was different.

At the thought of Raph my heart pained. He was probably worried sick. Was he okay, or had he been kidnapped too?

-Yes, similar to yours.- Thresh said,

-Me and my siblings all have unique gifts. We are children of Artemis's wolves after all.-
