Chapter 75

Morning soon came and Thresh was still barely conscious. His shirt was soaked in drying blood, that couldn't be good in this cold room.

I had decided that I would pee in my shoe. The metal floor would not contain my urine and it would probably spread. So since I didn't want that to happen I decided I was going to urinate in my shoe.

'Oh, this was humiliating!' I sat down my face beet red most likely, I could feel it burning.

I stood ready, I felt like crying, I couldn't believe I was doing this. I liked my shoes.

I took a deep, shrill breath and unbuttoned my pants and slid them down a little ways along with my underwear. I desperately hoped Thresh didn't wake up in the next few seconds.

But no such luck. I frantically pulled my pants up and buttoned them.

I heard him smack his lips and then stop suddenly, "What are you doing?"

"Nothing." I said my face was definitely bright red.

He narrowed his eyes at me.

I really needed to go.

"Fine!" I burst out, and swallowed, which was getting harder to do, I was so dehydrated, "I need to go to the bathroom." I muttered.

I was smiling uncomfortably, I always did when I was really nervous or embarrassed.

I saw as Thresh tried to hide a smile, I picked up my shoe and hit him, "Stop it, don't laugh at me!"

He then did. It was a loud, deep below, I never thought I would hear this man laugh. It caused a little breath of a laugh to exit my mouth.

He winced and grabbed his side, 'Broken ribs.' I deduced.

"So you were going to go in your shoe?" He said, a smile still on his lips.

I glared at him, but it was hard to do because I was still smiling nervously.

"Do you have a better idea?" I said spreading my arms indicating the space we were in.

He laughed a little more then cleared his throat, then took his shoe off and handed it to me.

"Here you can use mine." I could still see a smile playing on his lips, he was not trying very hard to hide it.

I stared at the shiny Oxford shoe in my hand and bit my lip, trying to contain a laugh.

This was such a strenuous situation and I think I was losing it.

Thresh had turned around and wasn't facing my direction so I slid my pants down again and finally emptied my bladder.

I was still embarrassed because of the sound, and I knew Thresh could clearly hear it, but I tried to ignore that fact.

When I was done I had nothing to wipe myself with so I used my sock, and did not put it back on.

I zipped my pants up and went and sat down, finally relieved.

Then Thresh said that he might as well "relieve himself" as well. I turned and faced the opposite wall and plugged my ears, feeling extremely mortified that this was actually happening right now.

Once it was done, he was missing a shoe and I was missing a sock.

We sat in the corner, farthest from the shoe, next to each other as it was still freezing in the cell.

After I'd burned off most of my embarrassment I brought up a subject that had been eating at me.

"How'd did you get so hurt? And how could they hurt you?"

He stared at the far wall, -They have gone rogue. I took down three but then they set off that strange distortion and I was at a disadvantage. I killed four or five more before they increased the power on that spell and then they ripped me to shreds.-

Something about his words was surprising. I was surprised that he would reveal that he had been weak, and especially to reveal it to me.

-But isn't there something built into them where they can't disobey you?- I'd seen it in Raph a few times. I didn't like it, but I could see that the Lycans couldn't help it.

-When a Lycan or a Pack chooses to become rogue they severe that connection to their Alpha, or any Alpha at that. It is very painful and takes time…- He slowed, I could see he was thinking.

-So, that means that they had been planning this for a while?- I asked, putting the pieces together.

He nodded his head. We sat next to each other for the remainder of the day, sharing body heat, it was so cold and I was getting lightheaded from lack of food, water or my head wound. Probably all three.

I continued to nod off on Thresh's shoulder and he would wake me.

By the time morning came again I was able to see my breath. My teeth were chattering and I was shivering nonstop, my ears and nose were frigid and my lips were so chap they were beginning to crack.

My stomach felt hollow and had stopped growling yesterday. My throat was so dry I could no longer utter a single word.

I had my arms tucked into my shirt by now and Thresh had given me his jacket, the blood was dry by now.

It was getting so hard to keep my eyes open, my body was slowing down and going numb.

Thresh seemed perfectly fine and was giving off plenty of warmth.

-Why aren't you cold?- I asked. I had long since given up on using my mouth except for breathing as my nose was stuffy, and I could barely get a word out edgewise.

-It's part of my ability, I can create energy for myself.- He explained and began rubbing my back. It didn't feel the same as when Raph did it, a warm comforting embrace, but it was helping to keep me a little warmer.

-Whoopee.- I said sarcastically. But my shivering was getting so bad it felt like my bones were rattling.

-One second.- Thresh said then lifted me off of him. I immediately felt the difference. It felt like the heat was being siphoned from my body, I closed my eyes and moved my uncooperative numb arms to try and rub some warmth into my body.

I soon felt a cold, wet nose nudge my face, like a dog's. I opened my eyes slowly and saw a humongous Black wolf, that nearly filled the cell, looking at me with grey eyes.

I gasped at him but soon shut my mouth because of the cold air that entered into my lungs.

He laid down and I crawled towards him on my numb limbs.

I nuzzled into his warm, soft, black fur and smiled at the small comfort. It was nice, and I felt more at rest than I had in a while.

The hours passed with me just trying to keep warm. Thresh had fallen asleep and I was slowly following him to that peaceful escape.

I was jolted awake by the sound of the door opening and voices.
