Chapter 111

They spent a few more days in the cabin, getting aquatinted with one another's bodies. Learning what the other liked.

His little mate was certainly a bold thing. She learned very quickly and seemed to enjoy it very much. And him, how could he not. He had marked his mate. His wolf had been calm during those days which meant that he was able to pleasure his mate freely, without worry for her.

The third day he'd asked if she wanted to go on a honeymoon or just stay at the cabin. She'd replied that she just wanted to stay.

They planned to stay till the twenty-sixth, his birthday. A little long for a honeymoon but they weren't going away and they enjoyed their time together. Besides Thresh hadn't contacted them about any issues so he could only assume all was well.

They'd spend their afternoons cuddling on the bed opening presents and reading cards and congratulations messages. They'd finished the cake way too quickly to be healthy. The evenings they'd spend curled up next to the fire, cradling each other. And almost every night they'd spend making love to one another.

The morning of his birthday he stirred and found that her warm, now familiar, body wasn't next to him. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and sat up on the bed.

The next moment Brooke came through the door with a tray and music playing, wearing the white shirt he'd worn to the wedding, her legs bare. He could smell the mouthwatering dish and began salivating at the thought of tasting it.

"Good morning, darling." She said as she placed the tray over his lap. He didn't know when the new names started, but they'd just appeared one day. He called her love, and she called him darling.

She leaned over and placed a kiss on his temple, "Happy birthday."

He looked down at the plate on the tray, "You didn't have to do this." He scratched his head. This woman was just too wonderful. He rarely celebrated his birthday as there was no one to celebrate it with. He would occasionally receive a gift from Charm and Thomas might take him out for a beer or two but that was it.

Brooke gave him a look, "Yes. Yes I did." She pecked his cheek, "Now eat."

He picked up the knife and fork and dove in. The meal was simple, crispy bacon and fried eggs, with a small biscuit that had been buttered and a glass of apple juice.

He cut open the runny yolk of the egg and dipped his biscuit in it then took a bite.

He looked up at his wife who was scrunching her nose in distaste.

He held out his yolk drenched biscuit to her, and spoke with a full mouth, "You sure you don't want some?" Knowing full well that she didn't.

She narrowed her eyes at him and looked away from the biscuit as though she would be sick, she raised her hands in defeat, "I don't know how you can stomach that, so I'm just not gonna ask." She said as she sat on the edge of the bed.

She reached and took a bite of the other biscuit half that was free of the delicious buttery yolk. Then she took a sip of his apple juice.

"I suppose that you made this for yourself too." He said grinning as he folded the egg and stuffed it in his mouth.

"I'm hungry. And there's plenty here for the both of us." She gestured to the tray.

He just chuckled and rolled his eyes.

Once the meal was done Brooke brought the tray down but left the music playing. He picked up her phone to see that she was listening to Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody.

She came back up and then crawled onto the bed so that she was straddling him, her knees braced at his waist. He smiled and laid back.

She smiled back and kissed him, their tongues intertwining and their lips moving in rhythm. They both moaned as they savoured the kiss.

"Happy birthday." She spoke against his lips with a smile. Her hair formed a canopy over their faces.

She moved and began to kiss and suck at his neck and collarbone, he groaned and held her waist as she continued to tease him with her small tongue along his shoulders.

She smiled and raised her head so that her hair was pooling on his chest.

She leaned forward and their lips met again. They sat up as her legs wrapped around his waist and her arms grabbed his hair to pull him down. He held her as their mouths met in a wild dance.

~Ring~

He lunged for the nightstand, effectively breaking the kiss, he recognized that ringtone.

"Raph." She whined.

He picked up the phone, lying on his stomach.

"Hello." He said.

"We need you there's an emergency." The Alpha's voice came through sounding urgent.

"What kind of emergency? We're coming back tomorrow." He was having a hard time keeping his voice even, as Brooke was trailing hot kisses along his back.

"The Haven has been attacked."

Raph stilled.

"We'll be there as soon as possible, Alpha." He hung up and got out of the bed.

"Raph. What's wrong?" She asked.

He was pacing and running his hands through his hair. 'The Haven's been attacked? How? The magic's too strong for anyone to even attempt attacking.'

"Raph!" She yelled.

He glanced up to see her standing with her arms crossed against her chest, her eyes staring at him worried but annoyed.

"What is happening?"

He opened his mouth to explain but then looked out the window, "I can't explain it here."

"Why not?" Her eyes were searching the ground for answers.

"Someone could hear it." He said as he whirled toward the windows.

"Elves." She whispered looking at the carpeted floor.

"Yeah, Elves, Pixies, Shapeshifters, anyone. We need to go." He grabbed his suitcase and began shoving his clothes in.

Brooke came to stand next to him and began folding all of the clothes that he was mindlessly shoving into the suitcase.

"Why don't you go clean up downstairs while I pack up here." She said not taking her eyes off the clothes as her hands moved methodically.

He gave her a kiss on the temple, "You're too good for me." He said as he sprinted for the stairs.

"You know it!" She called after him with a giggle.
